  1. I haven't posted for a long time but still have look every now and then and it's very sad that the club and supporters are still in the same situation. Being honest I don't see me attending Stoke speedway again even with a change in promotion I no longer have any real interest, my speedway now is watching on Sky. I just hope that the supporters ex and current can one day have a team to be proud of, unfortunately I don't see that happing with the current promtion but hopefully things may change.
  2. Very good to see the recent "break in" and looming closure has now been averted
  3.  Only Tattum oh dear, more faces than the town hall clock but then again I have always thought of him as a comedian, I would contribute if it would make him disappear far far away.
  4. As a supporter who has followed Stoke from 1973 the first year at Loomer Road I feel I can comment on past promoters and teams that have represented Stoke. We have over the years had some good and some terrible promoters at Stoke with varying degrees of success. 0n the rider front we have had some of the best riders in the league and I can say it was a real pleasure to watch some of the best racing in the country bar none on a great track with great riders. Whilst the limited success on the track has never resulted in any meaningful team silverware the quality of the racing kept supporters by and large happy, the support was at most times reasonable though not always maintained the whole year for various reasons. As one year ended supporters were waiting for the next year and generally the fall away supporters returned again proving that if you still provide entertainment on a good track with decent riders supporters will follow the team even if success is not as we would want. In my opinion when this all changed and the decline started was with the arrival of the current promotion, initially it seemed D/T was a bit of a saviour for Stoke having stopped it closing but after the first year it soon became clear that poor teams apart from some fantasic individual riders was going to be the order of the day. To some extent the great riders we had helped cover the cracks of the rest of the team failings year in year out, (it must be remembered that all teams lose riders at all stages of the season it's how the promotion respond that determines the season.) It soon became clear from the promotion that any supporters who dared to be critical of anything concerning Stoke speedway were threatened either physically or verbally with the threat of legal actions, the ending of the supporters club was another nail in the coffin. It is quite easy for people to make comments on this or other forums that certain supporters have an axe to grind against the promotion and maybe to some extent this is true but you will find this is because of the treatment they have received from the promotion. I would put most but not all the blame for the failures at Stoke at the promotional door, the list of failings is endless but one of it's biggest mistakes is the alienation of so many supporters that is not acceptable under any circumstances. It's hard to see any future for Stoke speedway even if this promotion left, the loss of support will in my opinion be virtually impossible to recover though I'm sure some would return but that would only be for P/L racing, people move on like myself with not going I no longer miss it and will not return as is the case with all the people I used to go with With finances as they are and the decline of speedway in general in this country I personally can see no future at all for speedway in Stoke regardless of who is in charge. For the supporters who still go I wish you all the best for the future and hope that by some miracle or someone with money to spend speedway can survive at Stoke.
  5. Little interest I suspect but when there is no Stoke website and not even the "Urgent press release" posted on here anymore it does make you wonder where the club is going or not.
  6. Not only are there no official press releases but now not even an official website, not even the "urgent press release" anymore. For you supporters out there with a decent promotion who are actually interested in there supporters appreciate it because you would not like to be run by a shower like this lot.
  7. I see motormouth has to put his nose in again Lee.
  8. I think the weather might be the winner terrible forecast.
  9. It's a bit of a lost cause mate I'm afraid as you say anything other back slapping and you get threats of court action,I think if some people think that this forum is about moaning they have never been on a football forum. Anyone visiting the Stoke or Vale forums will know that supporters express there opinions however they see fit and if you don't like it tough and they never get threats from the promotion.
  10. Lee if you think that was bad you should have seen the removed posts.
  11. Going totally off subject did anyone watch the speedway on Sky tonight great comeback from the Lynn boys and not bad racing at all.
  12. I have been posting on the forum for years and I have never come across the type of abuse and threats of legal action by a supposed promoter to different forum members, in my opinion it sums up the type of abuse Stoke supporters have had to endure over the years. Some may also know that postings today have been removed that would have made some peoples hair curl. I am no angel but I can honestly say that I have always loved the banter on the forum but it seems that should you post anything negative about Stoke speedway you now have Proud Potter on your case within minutes. It would also seem to be the case that within minutes you are subject to accusations that you are bullying or making derogatory remarks about Stoke, then we we start on the dictionary words being fired at you as though you are some sort of lowlife. As I said I love the banter and people who know me will tell you I would rather have a drink and a laugh but it seems unless you are a Stoke groupie be very aware.
  13. That really does show what is wrong at Loomer Road you fit in the mould with the rest of the promotion, no more needs to be said.
  14. I suppose it's like most sports you find a level that suits you or you enjoy, having been to a few NL meetings I found myself thinking it's like watching junior racing, I know there are some very talented riders in the league but for me to many very poor riders. Like I said if it is what you enjoy then that's fine but I'm afraid it's not for me.
  15. I don't like the promotion or there attitude at Stoke and for me NL racing is of no interest at all so I won't support it, that is my opinion but I have to say that for the supporters who are following Stoke this year good luck with the team because it seems that you have a team with potential as the results at the moment have shown, I hope that you get some success for the trophy cabinet. My issues with the promotion and NL racing can't take away the fact that there are supporters who do enjoy the speedway at Stoke and for them I wish you the best.
  16. No problem there and I'm pleased it's a more pleasant welcome.
  17. I just knew that you would be lurking somewhere as I waited for your reply. boozer
  18. It's good to see your main worry is about what someone might have said to upset the fantastic promotion team at Stoke, never worry about the pathetic promotion of meetings oh that is if they actually go ahead or the ever welcoming team at the gate, no let's worry about what has upset the promotion ( I use that term very sparingly). My own opinion is that you and your co promoters couldn't promote a pram race, oh gosh I'm not leaving myself open to slander am I oh dear. If you need to consult solicitors let me know and I'll pass on my details. Pathetic.
  19. I could not have put it better myself great post.
  20. Good post Lee we can both remember when we had good times Stoke with great racing sadly those days are now gone and will never return, I saw Bill the other day Lee nothing changes
  21. What point is that supposed to be making ???? most people on forums have a nickname and that is what they post under to my friends that is what I am known by, are you trying say my opinion would be different if i posted my name. It may have something to do with the fact that I disagree with a lot of what you write and I am not someone who is taken in by the bull that you post about Stoke, it is also a fact that you have had very heated spats on this and other forums with anyone who doesn't suck up to you or your views. There are a lot of people on this forum and the Stoke forum who know me and the fact that I post under my nickname is because I choose to not because it suits you.
  22. That being down entirely to the crap that was served up, you can only provide failure for so long before fans desert and the trophy cabinet tells the story. Stoke are the worst team trophy wise that have ever ridden speedway, any team that provides the level of success achieved at Stoke deserves the level of support it gets. If you consider the teams provided the track condition the facilities provided and never forgetting the ever present promotional team who treats supporters as dirt on there shoes and yet you question the support. Maybe you should look a bit closer to home for the answers, I personally am not bothered about facilities or even the treatment served up from the promotion but I am very much bothered by the tripe that is served up and the well reported problems that appear on a regular basis. As someone who has been involved at Stoke for 5 minutes yet come on here blaming supporters or the lack of them for all the failings at Stoke maybe shows that you fit in very well to the Stoke promotional team.
