  1. Thanks for those pictures Steve, sure brought back some memories. That wall in the pits, I sat on that before every meeting, kind of a superstition thing I suppose. The bottom picture of Steves, the one next to it of Grachans & the ones on the Speedway Plus sight are all taken from the same spot (I think, in the pits). I think I have a photo from the same spot, but with no dog track, will try & scan it to Grachen so he can put them all together Cheers Mark
  2. Thanks Grachan. How sad!! Just came across some pictures of when it was closed down as a dog track & thought that was bad enough http://www.speedwayplus.co.uk/ Noticed that they filled in the grandstand & those trees sure have grown in 20 years. You wouldn't think it is near the middle of a city, looks like it is out in the country somewhere.
  3. Hi Grachan, is there any chance of you or someone getting any pictures of how it is now. Would be great to see before it is completely gone. Cheers Mark
  4. Could be wrong but didn't Johnny Hooper run a driving school in Canterbury?? Cheers Mark
  5. I'm up for it, but every time I hop on my son's bike he starts laughing I think he is just trying to hide his jealusy!! One things for sure if Barney & me get the gate its going to be bl--dy hard for anyone to get past, even if we are going slow(wont be much room) Cheers Mark ;-)
  6. At least the fish was fresh
  7. Hi All Hey Steve, you mentioned about going across the road to Sainsburys to ring the track. I can remember the swimming pool, is that where Sainsburys is now?? At the time when I new Jonnie & being young I never really new much about him. But as I got older & read more about him you realise how lucky you were to know him. Even found an old photo of him & me at a presintation night, that I didn`t know I had. Cheers Mark
  8. Bringing back memories now. Played my 1st ever game of bat & trap at the Mill House. Use to board with the Goughs, about 300 yards behind the pub. Great Days C ya Mark
  9. Hi everyone, thought I better check out this new sight. Iwade sounds like it will be a great day. Ran into Darryl Simpson up at Mildura last week, just happened to bump into him up at the bar. which was the best place to be as it got up to 110 deg that day. Sam (son) raced in the juniors that afternoon & was stuffed after his 5 rides. Hey Shazz, could have done with that jacket of yours as it got down 90 at 3am. Days like that I wish I was back in Canterbury, in the Mill House Pub. Is that still there??? Cheers Mark
