  1. Meeting finished at 9:45 pm, I was still having a drink at 8 am, will try & hang around a bit longer next time . Only did it because I had to mingle with crowd
  2. Ozy, should be at the Mildura round. MA is running a junior training school on the Sunday morning with Leigh Adams which should be good for the kids. Look forward to catching up with you. Mark.
  3. Nathen went over 2 years ago & was a mechanic for Jason Lions ?? & had a few 2nd half rides, but as you say he has no patriality. So now just to drop another name into the hat "Tom Hedley" The best 15 year old rider in Aust at the moment. Should have been an Aust U/16 champion but did not travell all the way to Perth last year, he then pulled out of the 125cc racing so that he could concentrate on his 500. With our stupid rules, when you are 15 you are only allowed to practice on a 500 & can't race. And as all of our competitive racing is only on 125's you never see his name mentioned. But with my skilled scouting ability he has got what it takes & flies around Mildura. Can't wait until he is 16 (Janurary I think) only problem is no patriality (??). As for our juniors I know of a couple of other riders that could be pulling out of the 125's when they turn 15 so they can concentrate on the 500's. Mark.
  4. Ashley has been riding well & still think that he could make a good 2nd string. I think that Mark has got a better long term future but as Ashley hasn't got patriality I can't see Mark having it. If he could come in on a 3 point average I am sure that he would have been in England last year. ( but could be wrong)
  5. Well I finally got home & slept for about a day. I've never done so much running about. Thanks for all of the kind words about the meeting & thanks to Bryn for doing a great job announcing & I still owe you that bottle of Bundy. Also thanks to Andy, the best Pit Gate operator I have ever seen. Next time have a look at the size of the gate before you volunteer , & next time can you jog a bit as you open & close it Was also great to meet Lunchy & to thank him on sponsoring a few races on behalf of the Forum. I'm getting that lotto ticket tomorrow as it was so close to being cancelled. If it was cancelled there would have been a big chance that I wouldn't have given it another go for a long time, if ever. Sat up with the car club president until the early hours of the morning having a couple of quiet drinks & just had to ask him a couple of times what his biggest car crowd had been in the last 15 years (the track only ever has cars racing), for some reason his jaw dropped every time I asked him . After a few more drinks I decided to tell him where he was going wrong with his car meetings as I was an experianced promotor of 1 meeting . He soon worked out that he needed more than 1 hand written poster up on the toilet wall of the local pub . As for doing it again next year, If I was asked yesterday I would have said no, but after a bit of time to relax, well maybe. I would have to talk to the riders as the surface of the track worried me. But after all the ground work that was done for this one I think we could have an even better crowd next year. Cheers Mark
  6. There is a meeting at Sidewinders this Sat but Sam will miss it as we will be down at Bordertown for the week-end getting the track ready for the following week (20th) & he will race at that meeting. This is a meeting that I am promoting, at a car track that hasn't had bikes for 20 years. Just quietly panicking Then I think there is a gap until Jan 17th for the Aust U/16 Title at Mildura. Mark
  7. My free press pass will be in the mail soon I assume Marty ? Your also a sponsor, you get 2
  8. Lunchy great report. Now you save those fingers for the Bordertown Meeting as you are the OFFICIAL REPORTER for this great event. Will try & chase up a cap with scoop written on it
  9. Hi M.L. Sam's main aim was to make the podium, so yes he was happy. Jason is last years Aust no. 2 & Ryan Sedgeman is exellent around his home track,so it was a good effort. Naturally he thought he had a chance of winning, but just to be pushing Jason & to give him the odd scare is good.
  10. Jason Norman from South Australia has pulled off the double, after winning the S.A. Title last week, he then followed it up with the Vic Title after winning on a count back with local gun Ryan Sedgeman both on 14 points. Sam Martin (S.A.) followed in 3rd with 13 points & Aaron Summers (S.A.) 4th with 11 points.
  11. Don't give them to him until after the meeting
  12. Are you flying to Adelaide Lunchy ??? Sams fine, was winded & had some sore ribs.
  13. Jason STORMIN Norman the hot favourite for this meeting & the upcoming Australian Championship in January put on a flawless display to take out the S.A. State Title. This was another great advertisement for junior speedway with all of the young riders putting on a great nights entertainment. To strengthen the field even more, 5 interstate riders made the long trip over to challenge for the Title. After all the riders had completed their 5 qualifying heats, the 4 rider final was left to Norman (gate 1), Aaron Summers (gate 2), Jonathon Hepburn (gate 3) & Sam Martin (gate 4). As the tapes went up it was Martin who got a great start from 4, with a slim 1/2 a wheel lead going into the 3rd bend. But with Norman on the inside he was able to capitalize as they both went side by side down the back straight followed closely by Hepburn & Summers. Norman then lead with Martin tucked in behind & Hepburn all over Martin followed by Summers. The battle between Martin & Hepburn continued for another 2 laps when on the last lap Hepburn dived under Martin. With Martin going down heavily into the fence the race was stopped. The race was then declared by the ref with Hepburn being excluded. This left Norman to be the deserved winner & to execute a number of reverse donuts on his parade lap, followed by Martin with a strong performance & Summers who was on the pace all night & then Hepburn.
  14. Magg, this is a good site for Aussie results http://www.speedwaysportz.com2.info/
  15. Am doing this off the top of my head so it could be wrong, but there was 3 groups 1st Internationals Adams, Sullivan, Parker ? Young Guns Doolan, Schlein, then Harrison ? Teen Rampage Mark Jones, Wethers, Sorry its a bit rough
  16. The field for the Bordertown Championship is beginning to take shape with some top names agreeing to ride. These include Shane Parker, Kevin Doolan, Rusty Harrison, Matthew Wethers plus a couple of other international riders who still might ride. Also a stack of local & interstate riders ready to take the battle up to them. This is turning out to be a great line up for a small country venue that hasn't seen the bikes for 20 years. All the action is on the 20th of December starting at 7pm Bordertown is situated on the main Adelaide to Melbourne Hwy (Dukes) & is about 10 km on the Adelaide side of the Border
  17. Lunchy I hope your not bad luck, if you see one cloud on your way to Bordertown please turn back . Weather at Wayville was very cold with a few sprinkles of rain. Crowd must have been only around the 3000 mark which is not good with the amount of advertising done. Adams was flying in the final & beat Sullivan by 100 meters. Good to catch up with Bryn, he loved the weather
  18. Looks like we will miss you at Adelaide on Dec 6. Even though the senior State Titles at Mildura has been changed to the 27th, the Vic Junior State Title is still being run on the 6th so we are going up there to help fill their program. Have herd that the Bordertown meeting is going to be HUGE Dam good promoter running the show too from what I have been told
  19. It will be good to catch up with Bryn at the big meeting in Adelaide this Sat night. But is anyone else going ???? Lunchy are you flying over ? Regards Mark
  20. SIDEWINDERS JUNIOR SPEEDWAY (Adelaide Aust) TROY WYTEN MEMORIAL The annual Troy Wyten memorial was held at the Sidewinder Junior Speedway on Sat 1st Nov. Held on a cold night with patchy showers the young riders put on their normal entertaining racing. One of the great races of the night was heat 7 with the battle between Jason Norman & Jonathon Hepburn. Hepburn chased Norman hard for 2 laps & then entering turn 1 on the 3rd lap made a big dive under Norman & made the pass only for Norman to come down. Norman quickly remounted to come in 2nd, after the race was finished the ref then excluded Hepburn for unfair riding. After the heats had finished the 4 riders to make the Final were top point scorer Jason Norman who chose gate 1 followed by Harley Liersch who had some great rides in the heats who took gate 2. Jonathon Hepburn then had gate 3 after having 3 wins & an exclusion and gate 4 was left to Sam Martin who just snuck into the final after breaking a throttle cable in his 1st ride. The final was defiantly the race of the night, as the tapes went up it was Norman from gate one & the surprise start of Martin from the (sometimes) difficult gate 4 on the tight 120 meter track. Going down the back straight it was Martin by half a wheel with Norman on the inside. For 2 laps the pair stayed side by side while Hepburn was right on their tail followed by Liersch. On the 3rd lap Martin was still on the outside of Norman but got taken slightly wide allowing Hepburn to duck into 2nd place. As they crossed the finish line it was a fine win to Norman closely followed by Hepburn, Martin & Liersch. In the B final it was a nice win to Robert Medson followed by Ashleigh Dennis & Mikael Brereton. In the sidecars the battle continued between the 2 Irwin brothers, Jesse & Dylan with both showing improvement with every ride. Next meeting for the Sidewinders is the State Title to be held on the 29th of Nov.
  21. I soon learnt to wash my hair with my eyes OPEN :?
  22. Great clip Grachan. All the best with the family Cheers Marty
  23. Good bloke, but not too sure about being a promotor :? Sidewinders is only 120 meters & is mainly used by 125's as that is our main class   in Aust until they are 16.
  24. Thats because I got a mate to take them I'm surprised I even got them on the site ;-)
  25. Just a few photos of the track set up at Gillman & also the Sidewinders Junior Track. http://community.webshots.com/user/martys119 Mark
