  1. He needs something because his eyes are not that good. He missed both of Jorgenson's blindingly obvious jump starts.
  2. Must be ok though as it wouldn't go ahead anyway? The original lighting was only upgraded 20 years ago when Sky started and it was darker then than it is now with a 3rd of the lights out. I take & agree the point though. Who was on the stand lights as well last night? Talk about trigger happy & inconsistent
  3. It's not new though as various lights have been out for ages. It's just that last night it seemed to be as bad as I'd seen it. It's a health and safety issue at the end of the day so cost doesn't usually come in to it and it's an on the day issue, irrespective of what happens next year. If there was a big crash on bend 4 & someone said that they didn't see a rider or bike for instance, imagine the problem that the 3 lights being out covering that area could cause? I guess everything is above board though as the ref is in charge, he says go and it's on his shoulders if it goes wrong.
  4. Like many of the track lights. Counted them last night: 4 poles of 6 lights with a 3rd of the lights either turned off or fused. None of the three bulbs lighting up (or not in this case) bend four were working.
  5. No it doesn't. It just needs common sense, effort and will to get the meeting on when possible without excuses that don't stack up. When you're not doing the organising and paying the bills though then logic and solutions usually come easy. I wish they'd called this off at 10am in the morning. I also gave £50 to the collection but I thought that it was collection to take the mic off the bloke making all of that noise pollution up to about 7.10, as well as locking the DJ in the bog for the evening!
  6. Track record? Can't recall too many apart from one that was justified, even if you didn't agree. I agree that it doesn't take much for riders to have a wobbly these days and a big heavy track is a concern (don't want to pay gate money to watch 20 people looking at the track whilst being thanked for my patience). It's not like there has been days of rain & this mornings wet stuff shouldn't have done much damage. If it wasn't called off at lunchtime latest then it wasn't going to be called off. Just gone a bit cold & dark so fingers crossed!
  7. Not for the Stars because that means that they go another season without a trophy.
  8. It's been death by a 1000 cuts since Andrew Mercer arrived as EoES CEO 20 years ago (most of the houses that you saw were nowhere to be seen at that time). It's just a piece of land being continually developed for houses as Peterborough expands. Those who use it are just in the way of that objective. AEPG have their vision & if speedway isn't part of it (which it isn't) then they are not going to change that situation now.
  9. According to the ET a few weeks ago, meetings regarding such decisions were due to take place around now although AEPG have already set their stall out and picked an arbitrary date (without project/development plans approved and/or in place) of Jul 1 2023 which works perfectly for them if they want to avoid dealing with LP30 regarding "existing culture, leisure, tourism or community facilities" when they submit their proposals for approval on that date. If the existing league structure remains in 2023 and they need Panthers to prop up the Prem (probably literally) then 50/50 at the EoES/NA could work in that respect but might be good or bad for AEPG? Firstly it will mean that they then potentially have to deal with losing an existing facility although they could then point to existing provision within reasonable proximity? I'd still put money on 4 meetings left and counting?
  10. Have you heard whether that will be relevant to us (ie Panthers) in 2023?
  11. Good point: 5 and counting! - if you need to save money there'll be plenty of opportunity after Sept 15 & beyond.
  12. Did they all have the same provision detailed in black and white in their respective council's plan? It's like saying that the dog track is no go due to noise & other issues? In the unlikely situation that a deal could be done with the owners, PCC could easily work around any environmental/local issues if they put their weight behind the project.
  13. Depends how much the club wants to fight for its future? If the draft Local Plan was accepted as final without change then the developers have to deal with: Existing Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Community Facilities The loss, via redevelopment, of an existing culture, leisure, tourism or community facility will only be permitted if it is demonstrated that: k. The facility is demonstrably no longer fit for purpose and the site is not viable to be - it's still fit for purpose - redeveloped for a new community facility; l. The service provided by the facility is met by alternative provision that exists within reasonable proximity: what is deemed as reasonable proximity will depend on the nature of the facility and its associated catchment area; - does Norfolk Arena/Mildenhall or Leicester fit that criteria for Peterborough? m. The proposal includes the provision of a new facility of a similar nature and of a similar or greater size in a suitable on or off-site location - there is no provision/proposal unless section l above covers that? So how can Asset Earnings Power Group (AEPG) put out such statement without greater detail? It's a complicated plan with loads of subsections so I guess PCC can make it mean whatever they or the developers wish?
  14. Well that got a mixed reaction. Only needed a Haha for a full house
  15. If you've been around long enough you'll know that they tend to know something that they've heard elsewhere that someone else heard from elsewhere etc etc. It's usually uninteresting and nothing that you couldn't have worked out or sourced yourself anyway, as well as missing the important detail. Even if they think they do know something unique then they're almost always wrong.
  16. Meeting was all but over after 5 races though when gating was premium and Panthers failings were all too obvious. Harris is just different class at the EoES and very fast but even he couldn't get round Morris in heat 4. He had build up speed before the cutback & inside pass going in to turn 3. Palm Toft is the only one of that team who's up to that standard on a good day. Panthers were 12 points down at heat 8 but then only lose by 10 points & that all gives some indication of where some of the problems are.
  17. I doubt very much that any money changes hands although if anyone organises a collection to get rid then I'll get my wallet out.
  18. That's what it says on here https://britishspeedway.co.uk/
  19. Not forgetting Pedersen who got paid 39 in 3 play-off fixtures riding at 6.
  20. It's like all of those sort of awards. They are usually well deserved and correct initially, and probably for a little while afterwards, but the longer it goes on the talent pool often diminishes somewhat and the bar is lowered. Ostrich is worthy of some sort of recognition but is he up there with our former club & world stars? Nowhere near. Probably it's the tag that's wrong and should be renamed around club service in some way?
  21. The one change that they couldn't afford was losing the ringer at reserve and that's what happened. Didn't the whole team end up down there at some point last season? That's some luxury. That tells you much about where most are now in their career whilst now also being a year older and having to improve their performance against better quality riders as you highlight. That improvement isn't going to happen to riders on the wrong side of the hill. Loyalty is admirable but it was fairly obvious that that would come at a cost in 2022.
  22. Just paying a rare visit so must have missed that last time if it was there? What's irrelevant? You're a bit of a clown and it's a funny suggestion that gets funnier each time that you say it. Thanks for relieving my boredom though
