True, but at least it's out in the open and we have something to work with to make AEPG/PCC work for it. The immediate concern would be k. The facility is demonstrably no longer fit for purpose and the site is not viable to be redeveloped for a new community facility; Peterborough Speedway will be left in perfect working order after the last meeting of the 2023 season, as it is every year before it's readied in 6 months or so for the following season, so if anything happens to make it unfit for purpose then that would require some serious questions, unless the yet to be seen planning application is favourable to us.
-
So given that sight of the AEPG planning application is imminent, if it's not already out there? Then you're not holding out much hope on PCC sticking by the EoES provisions within their own live local plan? LP30: Existing Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Community Facilities The loss, via redevelopment, of an existing culture, leisure, tourism or community facility will only be permitted if it is demonstrated that: k. The facility is demonstrably no longer fit for purpose and the site is not viable to be redeveloped for a new community facility; or l. The service provided by the facility is met by alternative provision that exists within reasonable proximity: what is deemed as reasonable proximity will depend on the nature of the facility and its associated catchment area; or m. The proposal includes the provision of a new facility of a similar nature and of a similar or greater size in a suitable on or off-site location. I would think that the work/costs is the responsibility of the developers, not new owners, and local councillors have said that the plans will not be approved without LP30 being adhered to. I wouldn't hang my hat on what councillors say but would ask on what basis LP30 has been ignored, if that's how it works out.

by guys you mean 2 or 3 on here? Hardly representative!

Thought that I'd covered all of that?

That's always been the way though through the internet era. They put in a lot of time and effort in both good and bad times, as well as money but then get slagged off continuously by some who think that their attendance gives them the right to say what they want. Well it does to a point, but without full facts then can it always be justified? As Bratters once said, it's not what you say it's the way that you say it. As someone has already said, they are only human and not prepared for the vitriol that often comes their way. Someone once told me that Frost/Mahoney were shocked and not prepared, so you can see how less skilled people might react. As for running the club into the ground, it's important that fans don't get dragged down with the regime of the current owner at this crucial time. There have been many many more good years (for club and city profile) than bad and those times have to be forefront in the club's effort to survive and hold AEPG/PCC to account.
-
I remember when forums where the Antichrist. Frost/Mahoney ditched Panthers forum to keep things controlled/professional and in-house with basic one way (out) communications. The management never got involved with supporters (well Julie did once or twice to a selective worthless bunch, but that was it). Always a mistake to rise to the bait. However, if you don't communicate effectively but still want to interact and play the social media game then those are the problems that you create for yourself. It's usually at desperate times and always ends in a slanging match.

It's not known for it's accuracy. It has Danny King down as track record holder and the disabled parking instruction points to the ill-fated 2020 instructions/diagram. Can't remember the last time that I saw the owner listed? Tomalin never has been on there but that club officials page has had an update or two in 2023, I know that.
-
That's not confirmation.
-
I'll check the prog if I've still got one, but he's not down here http://www.peterborough-speedway.com/clubofficials
-
Was it ever confirmed? We were just told that it was Tomalin's intention to join CJ and that that was subject to a successful future application. Did that ever go in? Was it accepted? Did something else crop up? Within a few days AEPG issued a statement re their future intentions and Worrall was signed basically knackering up what was seemingly the preferred 1-7. There's many a slip twixt cup and lip!

It's been the same for 20 years so nothing worth getting excited about. When they are backed into a corner with a constant stream of criticism coming their way then they hit out, it's human nature, we'd do the same. The responses I'm reading though are not their finest hour but that's where poor PR & lack of detail leads: Most disappointing bit for me is: "Everyone knows the situation at the Showground and we are not big enough to stop a £50 million development from going ahead, things are very sensitive with the Showground contract and who knows what happens after October this year." Anyone is big enough to make a noise and fuss but we don't appear to be doing either which is probably upsetting some fans? What's sensitive? The club has already said "We have a contract with the Showground until the end of October, and at this stage it is highly unlikely that this will be renewed" "If you're all so vocal why not get yourselves together and form a committee dedicated to saving Peterborough speedway rather than bashing it?" Isn't that the definition of a supporters club? A better suggestion would have been to join the supporters club who are working save the club and put your effort in that direction. Problem being that they seem to be as quiet as the management?

Don't recall that being mentioned at the time (perhaps it was but I wasn't paying much attention). Looked at Swindon Council website and can't see anything matching our plan with Policy LP30. Peterborough Speedway's position is pretty transparent and the responsibilities within the city's local plan are clear. Yes money talks and backroom deals allegedly seemingly decide most things these days, so yes any fight may be in vain if the will isn't there within PCC, but anyone fighting for the soul of the club has something to work with. Also, within the last 10 days a development has been turned down close to the EoES because, and I quote: "The plans had triggered protests from political leaders including North West Cambridgeshire MP Shailesh Vara. They claimed the project contravened the council’s Local Plan"

Well given that Chapman is the owner and would have been well aware of the team make up rumours circulating then why didn't he just come out and say that he's aware of what's being touted but Holder will not be riding in either of his teams, end of problem? Playing the assumptions and you should have known card on a sponsor with other priorities who hasn't lived on speedway social media for the last decade is a bit rich.
-
Posted this elsewhere in February: figured it out long ago. "If Tomalin is putting money in for not a lot whilst allowing Chapman & Co to serve up their usual dogs, accompanied by rubbish PR for their paying customers, then he's the usual good businessman in his field but out of his depth in the speedway environment of shark infested custard?"
-
Not the brightest suggestion at the moment with imminent sight of the AEPG plan submitted to council. We need some cool heads, club cohesion and targetted opposition, if need be, based on that submission and the local plan; not some here today, gone tomorrow stunt. Great idea to shout everybody out but who's waiting to come in to do what's necessary? Yes the club appears rudderless but I'm sure that others with more enthusiasm are paying close attention to our plight.
-
Why? I'm sure that when he stood on the centre green with the club facing a July 2023 deadline and no future season, I'd say that most supporters would have taken that scenario for the prize of a 2023 season? All he said was that it would give the club additional time to find a new home that would hopefully be the equal of the EoES. There was no mention (that I can remember) of any hope of an EoES extension even though the developers' plans had yet to be submitted or that the local plan was in place with its provision for existing facilities/users ie. Peterborough Speedway presumably? I'm in no way saying that's what happened or was negotiated but at the time I wouldn't call that mental.
-
Say that he did a deal with the landlords that got us a 2023 season with the proviso to go quietly when the season finished and not make a fuss in-between?
-
Don't buy that any more and it doesn't make sense.
-
At 79 and enjoying himself in the sport of kings and elsewhere no doubt, I very much doubt that he'd want to get involved unless Julie is a bit bored and wants a new hobby. We'll be doubly nice to them this time, not a worthless bunch in sight
-
Wasn't that fight tonight supposed to be witnessed at the new 20,000 all seater stadium the club were supposed to be in for the 2023 season (spot the similarities there). A team that underperformed all season is just doing what it should following managerial change. Panthers team could have all of the fight in the world but you can't polish the **** that was served up for starters.

That was my thinking. It seems to be a pretty low bar to become a member.

Ipswich v Peterborough KOC semi final Thursday 11th May
Crump99 replied to tocha's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lack of use and interest? Just the sort of thing AEPG need to bulldoze the speedway infrastructure and claim that there isn't the interest to save it or provide an alternative elsewhere: excellent negotiating policy and position! -

Who is they? I've no idea who is running the show. The only person with responsibility and authority appears to be happy just to go through the motions for another 14 weeks. -
Bit strong, but actions are not matching those intentions, let's put it like that! Hopefully their behind the scenes work to save the club has more substance to it than the rhetoric about saving the season, which is all but over before the middle of May.

Well a month sure is a long time in speedway - From our club statement a month ago: "we can only stress that the club needs you more than ever at this moment. We are not giving up, so please do not give up on us. As a management team, we feel it is best to be completely open and honest with everyone and explain the situation, however difficult things are, and we will continue to do this over the coming weeks. We remain committed to having the best season we can, and if it is to be our last season we want everyone to have fun, make memories and enjoy the racing at one of the best tracks and finest venues in the sport." Doesn't really agree with best efforts and keeping the supporters onboard? Given that we've already lost to Ippo at the EoES I'm not sure what killing the first leg due to lack of effort is going to help with the racing, fun and memories for semi-final 2?
