Just to add a bit of regulation to this, maybe the team should fall within a 42.50 limit (otherwise, you'll just get everyone's No.1...) and also not allowed to nominate a rider from the team you support...

Don't think so... Didn't think he was an asset of any club prior to 2012... From a team point of view, I can see the sense in keeping a stable team using our own assets and keeping costs to as minimum as possible... However, I also see the sense in freshening up the side, bringing a bit of eccentricity back to the side which if we go with the class of 2012, CC and JT apart, are stale at Armadale right now... I think probably, we may well see 4-5 of last years squad return... I'm hoping though for a signing that's going to make people say that "it's worth getting along to Armadale every Friday night to see this guy race..." Time will tell... For me, Jozsef was a must, as is Cookie. The rest can fall into place behind them...

Odds On North & South Pl 2013?

In one word... No no no no no no no no no no no no no no -
There'll be a meeting at Livingston FC on Monday 12th and it'll be announced probably between that and the AGM on whether Edinburgh intend to come to the tapes in 2013...

Congratulations to Scunthorpe on winning the Premier League. Everyone knew the rules as the lined up at the start of the season and everyone did what they could to get into the top 6... We did it at Edinburgh by bring Jozsef back and we made it into the top 6 to contest the play-offs... I honestly believe we could have gotten into the final if luck was on our side, but alas it wasn't to be... c'est la vie. I see where other posters are coming from - the Edin/Worky match not being ran would leave a bitter taste in Workington mouths as they had a chance to get to the final with a win at Armadale... However, realistically, it would never have happened... But still they should've had the chance. However, it's all swings and roundabouts as things happened in the Worky/Edin match at Derwent Park which would've meant it ws Edinburgh having the shot at the title... But hey-ho, it's the way it goes... Two things that have been mentioned on here I do firmly agree with instead of sniping and looking at ways forward... Firstly, 4TT qualifiers are an absolute must. Some hate them but most love them... They bring the crowds flooding in and is something different in a meaningful competition. It also brings some kind of respect back to the 4TT finals which were a highlight of a season in years gone by. Secondly, If Newcastle finish top of the league, then seed them through to the final. At least give them the chance in the 2-legged final to win what they did throughout a full league programme. Then 2nd and 3rd fight for the right to challenge them for the Premier League. That to me is fair, then if Scunthorpe were to have won the league, they'd have earned it by beating the team at the top.

We wouldn't be onto page 25 if the qualifying criteria for the GP was different... Firstly put the 9-15 riders from the GP into the GP challenge (this way you may not get qualifiers from the challenge who don't bring anything to the GP's - Ljung, Laguta etc...). Or at least split them into the two GP semi-finals.. And then...... Top 8 GP riders from previous year Top 5 from the GP Challenge World U21 Champion (If they have the setup team / finances to do the U21 rounds, they can do the SGP) 1 Wild card chosen by BSI/IMG (possibly to cover for instances like Hampel this year...) 1 Wild card per round picked by the holding club/nation Then in a couple of years time, everything will filter round to having the top 15 + 1 riders in the world on the world stage... You shouldn't get any picks based on Nationality or how well you've performed domestically... Earn your place amongst the SGP Elite and if certain riders don't make it then so be it...

Well indeed!

Think in fairness, I read it more as a wish than fact from the original poster... -
Edinburgh V Scunthorpe & Redcar - Friday, August 31st
Nutz replied to lucifer sam's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Have no idea about the Berwick meeting to be honest... It might be a case of wait and see who comes through tonight, unscathed... would maybe hope that it may be a quick return for Kevin Wölbert into Edinburgh colours on Saturday, as Kings Lynn don't have a meeting... Don't hold much hope though after Berwick's fine win at Sheffield last night!!!! The Scunthorpe match poses a huge threat and it really needs the reserves to outscore the Scorpions reserves (though Irving knows his way round Armadale, and Palm-Toft is having a good season) to give us a chance... The top 5 seem reasonably matched though Edinburgh have had a period of inactivity and the momentum we'd built up with points at Leicester, Somerset and Sheffield plus the thumpings of Newcastle and Somerset at Armadale has been lost... Could go either way... Dekker's right... Very few Monarchs post on here now, and to be honest, I don't post too often... Just to try and keep the "track records" thread up to date... -
Edinburgh V Scunthorpe & Redcar - Friday, August 31st
Nutz replied to lucifer sam's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Think you missed the bit about Redcar!!!!! As far as I believe for that one, Kevin Doolan is missing so it'll be R/R for him, and I think also Max Dilger is missing though not sure why... For Edinburgh, James Grieves and Filip Sitera are the two guests... Redcar although are the only team to take anything away from the Dale this year, don't really worry me tomorrow, but Scunthorpe certainly seem to have the firepower to take at least a point away from Armadale... -
Cheers, Ipswich now updated with Nic's TR..

Updated to include RooBoy's track record at Armadale on Friday night, shaving 0.2s off Fish's 2yr record...

+/- Merit Points League Table
Nutz replied to barrow boy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Edinburgh are moving up the table, thanks purely to everyone else dropping points:) Lol!!! Love it! Even moreso with the Pussycats holding everyone else up!!! -
Many thanks, both records updated...
-
Updated with Adam Royon's lowering of Jason Lyons' 2yr old record at Derwent Park on Saturday night...
-
Ok, thanks for the info Bob... I've changed it for now, but may get a feeling it will be rescinded in future weeks ala the Graversen enquiry, at Leicester last year;)
-
No worries... will put it in as 338 for now... Cheers!

i've also been to quite a few meetings at Somerset where racing is halted until the sun goes down on the fourth bend... As a spectator that sits on the 3rd/4th bend banking, then it's difficult to see at times the riders coming out of the apex of the turn and onto the home straight until you've re-adjusted your vision because of the low sun. I'd reclassify it as stopping racing for reduced vision... If a rider can't see, he can't ride or race. Now Glasgow a couple of years ago... That was a sun-off!
-
Not sure about that one oldsparky... Does anyone know what the length of the Dudley Wood circuit was? And also, can anyone from Plymouth confirm if Fish's TR on Friday night against Leicester was legit? 48.06s I hear, but that's 1.5secs quicker than previous!!!!/????

Adam's new T/R is updated.
-
Updated with Richie's new TR Incidentally, it'd still be good for some historians out there, that know of Track Records from sadly now defunct tracks...Adds a bit of nostalgia to proceedings!
-
About as electronic, as a man holding a stopwatch can be!!! But it's the official record from the track, so irrespective of how it's measured, it's the time everyone has to beat I guess.
-
Amended to show the Old PL and the current NL track records at Loomer Road and also one or two "defunct" track records I knew... If you have any old nostalgic track records that you want to share from defunct tracks, let me know and I'll add them along the way!

Updated with Kauko Nieminen's record breaker of 61.47 on Saturday (knocking a whopping 0.03s off the old record!!!!!!!)
