  1. Post taken from theBerwick thread, goes to show that we are not the only one's struggling for numbers and reducing entry fees to £10 alone does not solve the problem indeed this approach may only accelerate a clubs decline. Lets hope that some solution can be found during the closed season. The BSPA need to stop trying to get one over on each other and start to work together for the good of the sport
  2. Hope your right DFTFTB, not sure how we will get this on again with a potential 14 meetings for the Comets in October. This year has been a disaster in terms of the weather
  3. Well if the meeting is on ( weather forecast not looking too good) it should be a close meeting maybe Worky 65 Ippo 35 ;0))
  4. Congratulations to Newcastle on finishing top of the league, well deserved,, you have set the pace throughout the season despite your injuries. Just ashame the Comets will win the play offs ;0))
  5. We will no doubt learn from our mistakes, just wasn't sure at the time that there would be another meeting. Hopefully the first of many
  6. If there is 700 people queuing up I will be a happy man, but thanks for the support
  7. You will be pleased to know that we may be bringing a bus across on Monday, containing Davidj
  8. Great news for all Plymouth supporters, you can enjoy your Christmas now :0))
  9. Come on the Comets, you have been an inspiration on track this season just stay safe (both teams that is)
  10. Sorry if we had more notice we would have arranged a more appropriate time but the press report needs to be in by 12 o clock tomorrow which is what is driving the 10 o'clock start. That said as long as we have good turn out on Saturday that is what really matters.
  11. Save Our Speedway To all Workington Comets Supporters In an effort to show that we the fans want to secure the future of Speedway in the town the WSSC (Workington Speedway Supporters Club) have arranged for the local press along with a photographer to come down to Derwent Park tomorrow morning (20th September) at 10:00am. We are inviting as many supporters as possible to turn up. Our aim is to demonstrate to the current promotion or indeed any prospective sponsor that we the fans are prepared to support speedway in the town. We are calling our campaign the Save Our Speedway (SOS) campaign and all being well an article will be published in Friday’s paper. So if you want to make up your own SOS banners please bring them along. The key message will be, let’s get down to Derwent Park on Saturday and support the Comets. If you can’t attend tomorrow hopefully we will see you on Saturday in what we hope will be a packed house. Your support would be appreciated George Sermon Chair of WSSC
  12. Scarra I take it you want to see speedway survive in Workington, well as supporters all we can do is demonstrate to both this and any future promotions that we (the supporters) are prepared to turn up every Saturday and support our team. What ever your your views or concerns are with the current promotion can I ask that you (and your friends) bury the hatchet and get down to DP on Saturday to show your support. This may be our last chance to keep speedway alive in the town.
  13. Well said Ballroom, love him or hate him KD has kept speedway alive in Workington for the past 7 years and in the process given us some top quality teams. ( this year being no exception). I would take the view that as a supporter I also have a responsibility to do what I can to keep this great sport alive in the town, "use it or loose it" so as to speak, unfortunately for what ever reason not everyone feels the same way so now we face the prospect of no speedway next season. As so called supporters have we done all we can to keep it?
  14. You may be an awful updater Squall ( your words not mine) but you and the other updaters provide a terrific service throughout the season, please keep it up
  15. On a positive note it never ceases to amaze me how generous speedway supporters can be. Tonight the Workington Speedway Supporters club held a collection for our injured riders ( of which we have many) and raised the grand total of £800, a fantastic effort in these hard times. Many thanks to all who donated (both Workington and Glasgow supporters) I am sure the riders will appreciate this gesture
  16. Well done to Leicester, looks like you have more or less secured your place in the top 6 and well deserved. as Topaz says Rene and Rich provided the bulk of the points for us well supported by Rohan ( many thanks). We are clearly missing Adam, Kyle and Kenny but who is out there that we can sign before the deadline (12th September I think)
  17. Well said Gift, if anyone wants to improve things then why not volunteer to help, if you think that things could be done better then you will never change things by talk alone" put your money where your mouth is" so as to speak and let's see you come forward with some practical support.
  18. Workington Management v Skoobie Heat 1 5 - 1 to KD Meeting RAINED OFF Good call By the management, you may be a joke but at least you got it right so what does that say for Skoobie ?
  19. Looking like a trip across to our mates in Newcastle
  20. Well done to ALL the lads tonight never expected to come away with anything so 1 point is a great bonus. Onwards and upwards lets get up to Sheffield on Thursday and hopefully come away with yet another point (or 2), delighted
  21. Yes on the assumption the rain gives us a break I will go for Rye 50 - Worky 40
  22. Your one Prat, what has last nights meeting got to do with the Rye v Worky thread, get over it, a rider is now in hospital and will miss the remainder of the season at best (not blaming anyone that's one of the downsides of the sport we all love) just fed up of reading all this drival about who is to blame when a young lad lays in hospital many hundreds of miles away from his family. Call the Worky fans all you like but Kenny was the innocent victim in all of this.
