Great coverage one Sweden match and two Polish this week, all with Star names and excellent commentary from Dave Goddard.

Any Leicester riders coming? Shame it's a bad TV advert for anyone new to speedway

oldtimer replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
There is a difference, you are paying more for this League. -
Somerset V Belle Vue. 4.8.17.

Traffic very bad since shopping in Weston 10 am this morning, 2 hrs to get home normally 25 mins. Just been down to A38 at 4pm Doctors appointment took 45 mins normally 10 mins and slow moving towards Bristol but moving Ok on A38 going down to Highbridge. Don't know if motorway better but assume riders may be held up. -

Will we ever get two full teams and no guests other than injuries. Or is it a plot to ensure myself and my mate do not attend this season. -
Would have made first visit to Oak Tree this season if Lindgren riding but not for the first time this season he is missing. Looking at various teams in Speedway Star it seems we could have seen most riders (those that turn up) in the old Premier League. Why pay extra money to see same Premier riders as last season?

Speedway World Cup 2017
oldtimer replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
GB finished 4th because Event 1 was so weak they should have qualified. If they had been drawn in Event 2 it would have been different. No way are they better that Australia (with Doyle) or Denmark, we are 6th in the World. -
Speedway World Cup 2017

Cook tries not to show it but is a bag of nerves on a big occasion. Needs some sports psychologist. -
Speedway World Cup 2017

I remember when the World Cup had all the top riders, GB had little to beat apart from Holder, the rest were just making up the numbers. Sadly GB will get hammered in the final. -
Smerset Rebels V Leicester Lions 23 / 6 / 17

Would have thought these problems easy to solve. Someone in authority tell the guy to turn off music, and turn up volume on interviewers mike. Have a word with Debbie. -
Interesting Somerset team this weeks Star page 17
-
Yes but to go regularly I want to support a team, and see visiting teams top riders. It would be different if it was just a fiver to get in, but at the moment not getting what you are paying for. Still watch plenty of speedway but on TV. Brilliant move by Gary May to sign all seven of the Swindon Riders to ride for Somerset. I assume they will be doubling up or would it be doubling across? 3 guests this week, may get to a match before end of season.

Saw him with the away team at Bristol a couple of times
-
Needless to say I won't be turning up for this two guests and R/R. Somerset's Palm Toft riding for Scunthorpe and Scunthorpe's Lewis Kerr riding for Somerset. Hears an idea why don't the two team managers agree that Palm Toft can ride for Somerset and Kerr ride for Scunthorpe? Much better than Kings Lynn versus Somerset guests, Also Heaps riding for Ipswich. At the moment it's even money we will get two full teams by the Play Offs.

First home meeting after the long break is on 28 July against Wolves, presumably Lindgren will be missing again as he is riding in World Games the next day.
-
Have not been this year, however absence for Injury's don't count, as cannot be avoided. Looking at fixtures, no home Premiership matches after 23rd June until 23 July, WHY? Who thinks the old League was better? At least you weren't paying extra to see absent top riders and number ones.

Somerset V Wolves Friday 5th May 19;30

only 3 guests, wait another month when injury's start to play a part and you will have a team turning up with 7 guests. -
Somerset V Wolves Friday 5th May 19;30
oldtimer replied to Wolfsbane's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Wolverhampton Select on Friday. Lindgren. Masters, Riss all missing, 5th May and still no full teams at Oak Tree this season. Perhaps Somerset need to change their race night, Will not attend while this farce continues, League winners decided by who picks the best guests.. Think admission prices should be reduced if Stars absent. Not Somerset's fault feel sorry for them. -
No surprise that changes would be made when new averages come in. In the Star Gary says a need for a big hitter with permutations already being considered. I agree with Gary's final point, when talking about Kurtz last minute absence, "It will be an amateur sport soon if we don't sort things out, the paying public will go home wondering what is the point if riders are going to be taken away.

Somerset Rebels Vs Kings Lynn Stars : 28th April.
oldtimer replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
After reading last weeks great racing comments was actually going to attend this one, mostly to see Holder, but with yet another match using a guest, will give it a miss. A Shame. -
Somerset V Swindon 21/4/17
oldtimer replied to Aroundtheboards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Still no matches without guests this season -
Parking was £1 for many years, now £1- 50 Looking at The Star this week out of the tracks that show parking, Somerset is the most expensive parking in this League. 50p not much but when you add it to increase in programme and admission. Would be worth it if you could watch someone like Holder, Doyle, Lindgren, or Kasprzak every week.
