  1. Most speedway fans here can't come up with sensible comment about speedway so there's little hope of getting sense on more complex subjects such as national anthems and systems of government. You just get ignorant prejudice and bull.
  2. Stable teams, regular race night, proper season length, costs under control and less than income. I think we can see how much chance there is of any of those. It'll limp on, for now, hoping for an improvement and doing nothing to make it happen.
  3. Numerous? Name them please. I suspect we'll end up with a handful.......The Poles were so free in allowing their riders to travel weren't they? Well, in a parallel universe perhaps. By the way, numerous means many. Anyway, get well Zenon, even if people are trying to make petty points about who was better than you. They can't have watched you ride or have met you.
  4. Woryna was a genuine pioneer, having been allowed over well before Edward and Zenon.
  5. There was no 'possibly'. Zenon was the greatest Pole of his generation and one of the most entertaining, wholehearted riders I've had the privilege to watch. It should have been his World Championship in '73. Get well soon, Zenon!
  6. If Newcastle can't raise a team surely they should forfeit their place and be replaced by the third-placed team in their semi? If the BSPA are insane enough to stage this on a Thursday in Redcar then I suppose Newcastle will get what they want since all reason seems lost. We have a whole month to stage this and the best they can come up with is Redcar on a Thursday? Is the PL adopting EL self-destruction logic?
  7. And people wonder why so many Poole fans are despised? Put your hands over your ears, close your eyes and shout blah blah blah and it'll all go away. Must be wonderful not to be troubled by principles....
  8. I'd suggest to Coventry fans who want to strike out at Poole for this latest amazing coincidence involving Poole to hit the Pirates' promotion where it hurts. Stay home and send your admission money to the SRBF. Hit these people directly, where it hurts and instead help those who deserve the money. Speedway used to be about four riders on a track. Now it's too much about finding the right loophole. Poole have 'form' and if they are indeed innocent in this case there's plenty of other cases where any innocence is far from clear cut. Stay home Bees. Enough is enough.A round of golf might be a better use of your time.
  9. Yes, sod 1985, wasn't speedway in a mess compared to now?............. It's not a question of pretending but trying to get the sport back in a sane, sustainable state. I'd prefer we learned from past successes rather than blindly heading for the cliff edge muttering 'time's moved on'. A cheap shot.
  10. This might be useful in assessing the job. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-34066941
  11. Yes, everyone is entitled to their views, just as those who find them offensive or idiotic can challenge them and tell them so. Just because you have a view you don't have to keep banging on about it or expect nobody to oppose it.
  12. You're forgetting the clocks go forward in Melbourne on October 4th so it'll be 09.15 AM here.
  13. I have a little surprise for you. The Sun, Star, Mirror and Mail aren't the only papers. You could always get someone to read one of the more intelligent ones to you or better still show you the pictures.
  14. It's quicker from home to the Oaktree Arena.......I can go there anytime. I really enjoyed my visit to the SBA last year so was really looking forward to seeing more. I'm not as often in the area as I'd like to be and for the next two Fridays will be a half hour's drive from Plymouth. Oh for the days of weekly, reliable speedway. Of course it's not specifically a Plymouth problem, just another sign of the sick state of the sport, even at PL level.
  15. All that you need to add to that is a Roman Abramovich at each track to pay for it. I do wonder if some people's understanding of finance is based on playing Monopoly........
  16. The term is 'employees'. I assume you're not familiar with the concept. Just to help you normally such people have to do what their bosses ask them to do, as long as it obeys the law of the land, not the addled views of a persistent whinger.
  17. Here we go again with Eurosport. Miss the first to heats while showing us tennis matches from years back. It really is beyond belief. Obviously having heard that racing was delayed by 15 minutes they decided to put in a filler - but why one longer than 15 minutes? Just out of ad break for heat 3. Deplorable. Premier Sports, all is forgiven ;-) (Edit - I see they're showing the first heats delayed after all - still not good).
  18. Fortnight's gap in racing at Plymouth - exactly when I'm on holiday in Devon and was so looking forward to seeing the match. This sport really is a mess now - unreliable in so many ways it's untrue. Time to pull the curtain down for me after 40-odd years, or at least until it wakes up. There's only so much you can do, or take.
  19. I'll be in Devon the next two Fridays so it's downright frustrating that there will be no racing at the SBA until next month. I was so delighted to see the Devils qualify so I might get to see some racing. Such is the state of speedway today - when you can and want to go they're not running! Anyway I shall put speedway out of my mind over the holiday - the worrying thing is how easy it is to do that now.
  20. You forgot to mention a chaotic fixture list that sees too many tracks' seasons ending two months early.
  21. Obviously I can't say that for certain but normal business practice is that if you have someone manage part of your business for you you usually give them a budget to spend. Logic isn't that frequent a visitor to Rye House however. The indication was that Silver was supposed to be managing the speedway side of the business. Are you saying he's not the manager and just the guy who does the track and gives a bit of advice? Now THAT would be even more surprising.
  22. No but I expect he's still in charge of spending Scott's money for him.
  23. Yet again the paying public are shafted. People wonder why the sport's lost so many customers? Poor value for money. Contempt for those spending it. Average-fixing, sending out substandard teams, caring only about the result not the entertainment. It all adds up in the long term and it has. You have to feel for those trying to improve the situation like the Facennas.
