  1. It's remarkable how much freedom he's allowed. I reported him when he made his first comment about Darcy Ward - before he was allowed to carry on and start an offensive (now deleted) thread on him. My last honest description of him has disappeared so I expect this one will as well. Still, it adds interest to matches knowing which team we want to lose. Thanks for reminding us that the problem is with ZG rather than the sport as a whole in Poland. I take it there aren't many different surnames up in the mountains
  2. The last time I went to Arena Essex on a Friday, all I could think about was Hackney and how low the sport had fallen.
  3. I think it was in a match in Poland, although it might have been Sweden where a warned rider had a large sign with an exclamation mark printed on it shown to him. When I was announcing the referees' warnings were always clearly passed on to the start marshal and also to the crowd via the announcer. . It's not that difficult and avoids debates like this one. It wouldn't cost that much to put a board together and to ensure the start marshal uses it. As someone else said it all adds to the show.
  4. Glad you enjoyed your sponsors' largesse. Shame about the ordinary people, eh?
  5. We're seeing the old third division conflict of interests here - those running sides purely to bring on youngsters, normally second teams, but not all, and the 'stand-alone' tracks with no higher level to cross-subsidise them needing an attractive team to survive. Birmingham actually seem to have achieved both this year with a very praiseworthy, youthful and winning team. You can't criticise them for seeking to maintain their success both on-track and on-terrace. We've seen what can go wrong at Birmingham and while they must run within the rules saddling Hall with a ridiculously out of date average is clearly a blocking tactic that could threaten their progress. The highly-professional team at BBC WM were pretty clear in their disgust at the decision last night, although they can be forgiven for a touch of local bias. No matter what the technicalities the reality is that Eastbourne were allowed to sign Eliis, now a well-deserved finalist in the World under-21 Championship. That makes the effective, if not formal, blocking of Hall quite ridiculous. I take it it's the same guy making these decisions that was involved years back when my friends and colleagues relaunched Rye House? If so that would explain the latest questionable decision. Birmingham are running a young team, exactly in line with the NL ethic. They've hit a problem and want to sign an eligible experienced rider far younger than some other riders in the league in order to maintain that success. I do wonder though if Birmingham are outgrowing the NL.
  6. Starman's been passing himself off as a track expert. I'm beginning to realise the awful possibility that he IS in charge of the Poole track.
  7. Well, the team was a fix - pity it wasn't the track they fixed. Shows no matter what the off-track scheming is riders can still let you down.
  8. Sitting here goggle-eyed. Well done Aces. What goes around comes around. What a sight for sore eyes!
  9. I'm glad someone found time to mention Krystian Rempala. Praying he'll pull through as I'm sure everyone else is. Well done Mark Lemon.
  10. Do you think it's time someone looked at the base of the Poole track? It looks a bit of a bodge....
  11. 28-32 - What's the old saying? Oh yes, "Here's mud in your eye!".
  12. The Polish troll claims to be a speedway fan. Funny, doesn't sound anything like any I've ever met.
  13. Barring play-offs the Swedish fans only get seven home meetings a season. To have one of them ruined deliberately by Smederna will surely see claims for compensation. I feel very sorry for any track suffering financially but sending weakened teams away to save money and ruining the hosts' business those nights while running a full strength team at home goes against the fundamental principles of league racing.
  14. It's rather splitting hairs. It was an NL-level match staged on a PL track. It would a rather long stretch of logic even by BSPA standards to classify that as a PL standard meeting. If someone tried to stage that match on an NL track with Etheridge included it wouldn't happen.
  15. I'd have thought it was obvious that I was commenting on the ruthlessness at Zielona Gora, illustrated by Doyle's over the top riding and the case of the meeting where riders were forced to carry on racing through a snowstorm. Yes Doyle has always been a forceful rider but not reckless like this. When you look at their fans behaving like a cheap imitation of football thugs, with their pretty "Falubaz Hooligans" banner and the behaviour of a certain representative of their 'supporters' on here it doesn't paint a very pleasant picture of the place or its attitude. Anyway, what matters is Rempala. My wife witnessed at Hackney what happens when riders lose their helmets. I pray this time the effects are not fatal.
  16. That's twice now Doyle has blatantly felled a rider. Unlike the Pawlicki incident he only needed one hit this tome to fell the opponent. It's more like watching banger/stock car racing than speedway. We've seen previously in the snow how ruthlessly riders are treated at Zielona Gora and this does rather show the results. On a day with such awful news coming from Rybnik someone needs a word. At least Doyle was duly excluded this time. Very concerned for Rempala - sounds awful.. I pray it's not as bad as feared.
  17. Look guys, racers and royals gives a full preview of the weekend action with links to websites that list feeds. It's very thorough and I would suggest you scroll up and use the information he so kindly provides. Think I'll just concentrate on watching the racing today if all we're going to get here are lazy requests for links. See you later.
  18. None, sadly. It's not that simple using Android boxes. There is a Polish add-on for Kodi but it's not working currently.
  19. And so we leave Messrs Hougaard and and Walasek to chat about the good old days at Leicester while they continue to search for the body of the home team manager and move on to some rather more competitive speedway in about 90 minutes' time. I'm off for my belated luncheon and a lengthy lie down while my nurse attempts to calm me down after all this excitement.
