Poole V Oxford. KO Cup Final. 16/17 October 2024
Debbi replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
He had a knock at the Championship league riders meeting, he had to lay the bike down or ride over Sam Masters whose chain/bike failed and spat him onto the track. Ashton damaged his knee, he pulled out of a few meetings and the ones he took part in were low scores. He then knocked the same knee a couple of weeks ago at Oxford hence withdrew from U19 championship. He is young and has only been racing for a couple of years and this is the first big knock/injury and it’s knocked his confidence a bit. It’s a shame really there was one heat tonight where he was clearly quicker than the Poole duo but was shutting off going into the bends, whether this was a confidence issue or he didn’t trust Vinnie Foord I don’t know. -

2+1, 2+1, 2+1 , 0! I don’t think that is a paid maximum maybe after 3 heats but definitely not after a 0 from his fourth ride. Oxford were up against it with the loss of Luke and Jody last week, but with Scott’s crash it was game over! Well done to Poole better team on the night! But for the Oxford supporters of 4 young British lads to raise nearly £8000 for them was something quite incredible! -
Oxford v Poole v Oxford; Weds 25th and Fri 27th Sept
Debbi replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
There is no question he is carrying an injury. During the Championship riders meeting he put his bike down to avoid running into/over Sam Masters and hit the ground hard, then to crash in heat 3 tonight was the last thing he needed. Only time will tell how he feels physically and can make that decision. -

To be honest with the bang to his head I am amazed he carried on but then if you won’t let the medics near you ….. -

He is carrying a knee injury sustained at Redcar and had to pull out of some meetings. I would guess he clouted again when he fell off in ht 3. -
Ipswich vs Leicester play off Semi-final 9th Sept
Debbi replied to ShanoXtra's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I would suggest that everyone needs to use this email address, it won’t change the result but something needs to be done about the ref’s decisions tonight. If you can post your frustration here copy and paste it into an email and just press send. I am not a supporter of either of tonight’s teams and feel the meeting was decided in the worst possible way by an inept referee. They said on tv even the Leicester riders couldn’t believe Rew’s exclusion. SCB chair: jim.lawrence@scbgb.co.uk -
Sheffield vs Ipswich 2024 Cup Final Sept 2nd

Scot won’t be riding as he will be presenting. He has made it clear that he didn’t want to race full time premiership because of other commitments. -

Jordan said he’s sure it’s broken (as I put on updates) he was gutted and heading to get his wrist looks at and prob x-rays. Fingers crossed it isn’t but he knows his body. Danny walked (hobbled) away from his crash but don’t know more than his foot was sore and swollen. -
Time to sack Phil Morris?
Debbi replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
In all seriousness, what happens to those who have placed bets on where clubs finish on the league table and not the result of the play-offs?! Because as it stands this is not a true outcome? -
Connor had a very heavy fall in heat 2 he came out on another bike whilst he was riding that on track half the Oxford team were jumping on/kicking the bike back into shape. Connor has not performed to his potential at Oxford in previous visits. sure if Luke hadn’t been injured he wouldn’t have had as many rides but he still went out completed 7 races and only failed to score in one race and was the highest scoring reserve. He put up a good fight for most of his points. No disrespect to the likes of Sam and Scott but they are your top heat leaders and rightly or wrongly you expect them to put in maximum performance. Where as Connor we had no such expectations from him. He gave it his all and deserved the reward.
-
But that’s exactly my point, nobody regardless of what team and what league, knows what happens before a meeting. It would be like me assuming what you did at work today and questioning it. Who knows how many riders were asked but turned it down for one reason or another but as you say you aren’t going to say well actually you were 3rd, 4th, 5th choice.
-
It was nice to see that Connor Coles was given rider of the night after his fall in heat 2 he must have felt second hand. To do 7 rides and not to score in only one race was something else.
-
He has not had a head injury/concussion (may have been initial thought). He is hoping to be at Kings Lynn tomorrow riding for the Spires. Depending on Dr’s advice.
-
How do you know that Peter didn’t ask them? There’a every chance they may have been working or even away.
-
No!

What the heck is going wrong with Eurosport tonight? Their graphics are showing the wrong riders, the scores have been wrong. Tatum and Allen are getting it wrong as well, reserve rides are not rider replacements, rider replacements are those taking Emil and Tai’s races not when Harrison and Rew are taking/swapping with each others races! Rant over!🤬🤬

From the tv footage Robert looked resigned to being out. This was obviously changed to Vaculik. Vaculik then went to find Phil Morris and was clearly making his point and getting a little heated then we hear it’s changed again. Armando said there were officials in the refs box looking at it well surely they didn’t need to be in there, tv cameras, all over they have transponder times etc are we really saying they could not get all of this in the pits, they seemed to be able to hold an FIM jury meeting in Denmark (very quickly) last year to exclude Zmarzlik! It also seems odd that Armando is high up in the FIM for speedway and wasn’t with said officials in the refs box. Instead Armando looked like a deer caught in headlights when they tried to ask him about it, but no one from the FIM Phil, Armando or whoever, actually explained how they had come to this decision and why which would have been made clear to supporters what was going on and why! I know this is very rare so they hadn’t thought ahead for this, but there should have been more clarity from the officials, on the night! why not look at the heat times with the fastest 3 going through? Have a run off? Instead of looking like incompetent idiots (trying to be polite)! How on earth do you explain this to media, newcomers, fans in the stadium especially when the official commentators had no clue either!
-
Do a draw like they used to do. Four colours in a dip each rider takes one, or Armando (fim official) pull the colour out for each rider.
-
Thanks that clears it up a bit. I got the impression from the interview with Armando, said it was on last years world championship result which “nobody wanted to do it on.” So it seemed a little murky. Either way I felt them saying one rider then another and that rider complains so it’s looked at again and changed was a farce and didn’t look good at all.
-
Can I ask a question as I know you are likely to have an answer. If the 3 riders Kubera, Wozniak, Kvech tied with: Fricke (he is a reserve/injury replacement) but competeted in the GP’s last year so has a standing result from last year’ WC competition and the others don’t how would it pan out? Bewley was seeded/given a wildcard to be back in the series again he competed last year so has a standing in the WC competition, how would that pan out?
-
Nice idea, but Ithink there could have been another way to solve it. They should all have got into the inflatable helmets and done 100m race, a bit more exciting!

Sheffield v Oxford - 25th July
Debbi replied to 4BenMoran's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Does anyone know of this meeting will be streamed anywhere? -
Having been in the stadium since 5:30 Jamie Courtney (Promoter and track man) had been working on the track the whole time. If he watered to much it would be wrong no water at all and it would be a dust bowl that would have been wrong. I notice it hasn’t been mentioned that before heat 15 Jamie got on the mic to apologise for the issues with the track - how many do that? It was obvious that there were two Belle Vue riders who didn’t want to race the track, to have two new track records set in the same (one Oxford and one Belle Vue) meeting on such a dangerous and unridable track. Also if it was so bad why was it signed off as fit by the SCB ref in the first place? Most riders should be able to attack a track should it be grippy or smooth, but this generation seem to expect a nice smooth car park to ride on. Do you think this happens in other countries the complainants would have been told to take a walk.

Debbi replied to Anzum's topic in National League Speedway
Fair play to Will Cairn he was absolutely flying tonight. For Oxford I hope the injuries are not to bad for Jody and Ashton, and that Jason and Jacob get assessed as they were involved in nasty falls as well and will probably black and blue tomorrow and in a lot of pain.
