  1. Billy Janniro and Chris Harris now added to the podcast https://anchor.fm/martin-coleman5
  2. Next Episode will be out this week with Rory Schlein
  3. Hi all. long time no speak :-) for those that fancy a listen I’ve started a podcast about the memories of the Coventry Bees, and so far have recorded 4 first one was with Robbo and it’s a shame it happened but there were major technical problems So the sound and recording wasn’t great but it was still great to chat to him Episode 2 was with Jacob Olsen. Jacob was very honest about his career in the mid 90s Episode 3 was with Rosco who told a couple of great stories and reminisced about his time at the club as a rider and then League winning Manager. most recent Episode 4 was with Shaun Tacey. Great to speak to Tace who told a couple of belting stories including one where Tony Rickardsson of all people let him down :-) Others who have so far agreed to catch up include Peter Oakes, Rory Schlein, Chris Harris, Martin Smolinski, Darren Spicer and Andy Hackett If you have some spare time give it a listen. It’s something I thought about doing last year and lockdown has managed to convince me to give it a go. Hope you enjoy Chivsy https://anchor.fm/martin-coleman5
  4. It should be Ben barker but although it wasn't announced I reckon kauko niemenen just beat bens time last Sunday in heat 1 62.03. So for me kauko is the new track record holder cos there is no way gravesen or bager did the times that were read out!!!
  5. Kelvin was a real "hero" of mine when he rode for the Bees, and anyone who travelled to away matches when KT rode for us, the majority of the time enjoyed a great Heat 15 with Tommy K and won us many many matches. An away maximum at Bradford was my alltime highlight in a Bees Jacket, he was roundly booed by the Dukes fans on every occasion, but just showed class and sped to an untouchable max....funny how he rode for them later on. First Backtrack issue I purchased - purely because it was around my main time of the speedway - glad I did as well.
  6. Had a fantastic time in Torun, and the same as anyone else who has posted since their return, what an amazing stadium to watch it in. Probably the closest thing to Bradford where the track was below you, so everyone had a great view. The poles love their speedway, and the passion they showed on the evening was amazing. Probably helped by the 123 on the rostrum On the Sunday went to Bydgoszcz vs Wroclaw, and saw the away side totally dominate on a very slick track. After the meeting a few heated exchanges with home fans and police led to pepper spray being used....quite bizarre, but they were not happy at Lindback, Walasek and Jonsson winning one race out of 15 rides!! A great GP to go to, and certainly one I will attend again
  7. Is it suggested that people pre-book their tickets for the Bydgoszcz match on the Sunday...or will you be able to pay on the gate?
  8. Ive just watched the repeat on Sky Sports Extra....marvellous stuff
  9. At least with a line-up minus true world class, should mean a chance of riders all beating each other....could be one of those meetings where 11 or 12 points wins it. Could actually turn out to be a cracker
  10. just to add another yes to the above statement the back straigh just out of the 2nd bend was a great view last year
  11. That's an easy one Colin - he gets banned - you don't
  12. Thanks Sub So next year 3 out of the 4 meetings will be at Leszno - might as well move the 4th one there as well.... All of this building up to the final in 2009 then from Team GB looks like it might have been a bit off the mark :-)
  13. Sorry if I've missed this in another thread but they mentioned tonight the race off and final would be at Leszno next year - I thought It had been confirmed as Coventry.....
  14. Only problem with Rosco is if the GB team were in the same qualifier as Australia how would he fill his programme in whilst being so far up Adams' arse
  15. I think the main problem tonight, that even if you were not following any country tonight showed exactly what is wrong with British Speedway. We just do not have the infrastructure to produce riders the likes of Bjerre, Iversen, Davidsson, Ljung - who at one point all 4 of them have been classed during their first few months over here in Britain as riders who wouldn't make it etc etc. You only have to look at Jonas Davidsson who for so long has been called J0000nas etc to see what a different rider he is. As a supporter of speedway you would over the last 2 or 3 years have said that riders like Stead and Allen would beat Jonas 9 times out of 10. Within the space of a year you would now expect Jonas to win 9 out of 10 times. Sky Sports put way too much hype on the British team and IMO make them out to be much better than they really are. We probably still have a team who love to race for their country, however late eighties/early to mid nineties we had riders than the fans knew would give another 20% because they were representing the country (Havvy/Loram/Tatum/Louis etc). We have never consistently produced a team of riders who could gate - which we all know is so important in this sport - but we always say this rider is great at overtaking and this rider can come from behind and use all these different lines - fact is that tonight the Danes and the Swedes were so far in front after half a lap that it made no difference whether the British lads were decent "racers". Until the BSPA and the clubs actually get together and REALLY start to look at what these countries do with their kids we will never be taken seriously as a speedway nation again. I always admired the passion that Middlo showed when Team Manager, and although Jim doesn't look as passionate as what Middlo or even Rosco does - he does have that passion but just shows it in different ways. No-one will be hurting more than him tonight. 50% of people will be disappointed tonight - the other 50% will be delighted as they can now say all along that GB are crap etc etc. Tonight was extremely poor - Thursday will quite possibly be just as bad - but not as bad as if they actually get to the final on Saturday!!
  16. Sandie I would have thought it is correct - it is one of those clauses that are put in as you have already actually paid £1 to enter the competition by text (probably £1 plus standard network charges so approx £1.10 or £1.20.
  17. Lets hope the Saturday flight isnt heavily delayed then....
  18. I'm there - East Mids Friday lunchtime Looking forward to it
  19. Well it depends what you are after Steve. On Monday against Ipswich I think Freddie won his last 3 or 4 rides - however he turned straight round and went back into the pits - not really giving you anything to support is it However - he was the best rider on show last night
  20. He has more important pressing situations liking coaching a team to win a league trophy
  21. He was in Poland last weekend - im sure if he gets time he will start something
  22. I did tell you about the flights a couple of weeks ago
  23. Yup Its the birthday weekend son Flights and stadium tickets booked - just looking for the best hotel deal now
  24. Anyone recommend a decent hotel that they may have stayed in last year in Copenhagen for the GP Cheers
