  1. Boss 2, Sorry you missed the last heat was a grand finish (well for our team anyway ) with Joe Reynolds the hero of the hour. THe team spirit was second to none and when we found out Lewis could not make it the lads were well fired up and belived they could still reach the final. Marky Mark The helicopter did not turn up thats all I know Lewis was gutted George was chatting to him on the way home as he kept in contact to know how they were doing. Hell of a team spirit within the team even with Lewis not there but still in contact with the rest of the team

  3. Thanks Main Man good to be back though a little done in today. One of the highlights for me was to see Shane back on a bike. Wish him well for the rest of the season. Also was nice to see how the U15s worked as a team. Give the lads a good track to race on and the lads produced some great racing.
  4. Nightmare at the Wessex tonight for George who blew his No1 engine before the meeting jumped on his second bike laid it down to avoid the fallen Sam Hurst and wrecked his second bike and had to pull out of the meeting without compleating more than two laps and a huge repair bill Many thanks to Dave Sanford of "Shoe Repair +" in Poole high street who gave us a £120 cheque towards the damage Also once again a huge thankyou to Terry Brown (Toms father) who offered to take Georges engine to be rebuilt as we are trying to get it back for Sheffield next week Once agsain Terrys help has been invaluble thanks mate
  5. George and Matt are best friends and have been before they rode on 500s and there was no one as made up as George to see his mate back on track. From my own personal point of view it made my night. Felt for both Tim Webster and Sam Hurst who both had nights to forget
  6. Birthday boy had to wash it off Its his own fault as he decorated Lewis Bridgers van with a malteser ice cream at KFC after a Weymouth meeting Windows doors etc. Speedway riders when they finish riding of a night the things they do
  7. Happy Birthday Rubberbones Enjoy your AL meeting at Poole tonight Dad Rosanna and Jack
  8. Josh must weigh up whats best for him and his future. I wish Josh the best of luck in the CL whoever he rides for. he is a smashing lad and will be a big point scorer whoever he rides for Enjoy your racing Josh
  9. Vince i think Peter had the riders covered who could not make it to start with. This was over the course of a few days, think he is pulling his hair out at the mo Not having a go at anyone in particular Just would be a shame if it all fell apart. At Buxton assesment day all who wanted to take part were asked what dates they were available. Now it seems since some are saying cant do these days that day etc. Can understand CL commitments dont think that is the problem. Here is a great chance for the lads to work as teams and all who can should grab the chance offered to them
  10. Yes spoke to Peter Oakes and he was dissapointed 4 riders pulled out of the AL because of other commitments also at Worky George and Brendan were going to Guest for two then George crashed and injured his wrist ruling him out. Its a real shame that riders are backing out while others will ride anywhere
  11. Yes think it was your team Jamie I know Brendan Johnson is also guesting and hopefully George if fit wont know till Friday but at the mo Georges hand has shown no improvement which is not looking good
  12. No an endless stream of girlies calling him Best bit was in A&E he was taken into the kiddies examination room (bearing in mind he was not in the best of humour) and had to sit on a Thomas the Tank Engine bed I offered to read to him from the childrens books on the shelf, well he turned me down flat and left me with no doubt he did not wish this
  13. After his heavy fall at Reading last night while having a great race with Brendan Johnson, George took a heavy fall on the fourth bend picked himself up and seemed OK but on the way home he was in a lot of discomfort with his right wrist which had swollen during the trip home. Took him to A&E this morning where he was bandaged up and put in a sling, X-Rays show a possible break in a small bone in his wrist but difficult to tell due to swelling. He has to see a consultant on Friday morning and has pulled out of his racing commitments this week and will know more on Friday George is aiming to be fit for his U15 academy meeting at Poole on Aug 3rd and if it settles down George still hopes to guest at Scunthorpe Sunday in the Academy meeting as he does not want to let anyone down. Hes not a happy bunny at the Mo and is gutted to pick up an injury while he is so busy
  14. Sorry paul was not having a go at the scrutineers thought they did a fantastic job. The point i was trying to make was that Kye was on a 500 and they would have picked it up otherwise. Like you say if a bike was sleeved you would not tell The track and staff at Scunthorpe did a fantastic job and a great day was had by all. I have no probs with Scunthrope and we look foward to coming up again soon
  15. Hi Paul, The scrutineers should pick up the fact if a rider is on a 350 by the engine number. George had a 350 and was always picked up at Swindon and Oxford when he used to ride. Never thought you had a problem with Kye I also think he is an outstanding prospect very nice style was commenting on that when he was out with George in his last race. I agree you cannot set a bike up for an inexperienced rider the same as an experienced rider. When we turned up I had never seen the Scunthorpe track and set Georges bike up with a 61 back sprocket. Walking the track before the pairs it was apparent that there was not a lot of dirt on the track and by the time the U15s got out there it would be slick. I changed Georges sprocket to a 58 and backed his timing off to give him more drive and it worked for George. the track was graded and watered with little dirt it was very slick for the first few heats and this caused a few to fall in the opening heats ( I am not having a go the track or staff just saying how it was thought the track was great ) As to riders 13 and under not riding a 500 Junior riders can only step up to 500 with two insructors signing a letter. from our experience George was on his 125 till he was flat out on it everywhere I then bought him his 350 brand new. He rode that for a whole winter and was attending Malc Holloways training schools. Malc said he was ready for a 500 try him on one and he took to it without any real problems at the age of 11.(His licence was signed by Steve Targett at Reading and endorsed by Peter Oakes at Swindon in the spring of 2003) Malc rode Georges 350 and said dont know how they can ride these things and George said it was much easier on his 500. Looking back the 350 was a waste of time and money though the grass boys soon snapped up the engine and we bought a brill 500 engine from Adam Shields which has served us well. I agree about set ups and Georges then was set up to spin and only now we looking at different set ups and engines. Speedway will always have its danger element and the fact that we are half way through the second year of the U15s without any major injury the lads have shown great control and abilitiy to lay bikes down etc ( Like Brendan Johnson did )and it bears this out. Yes this year there is a bigger gap between the the top 10 and the rest of the field but that has got to help the bottom end guys no one is being lapped. Still dont see it the pushy parent bit have to agree with Vince it is a learning curve for parents too and all share info and help one and other. I myself tried to help get Ben Taylors bike started when we were warming up and was helping Dave Johnson to change gearing between races and we have had help to in the past as well. I like the atmosphere in the pits made many good friends over the last two U15s Think we will have to beg to differ on this one
  16. Hi Cornishman George will be at Somerset this week got some U15 races in the second half. George took a heavy fall at Weymouth in the second half fiday hit the fence abit hard and bent his frame rushed over to him while he was down on the track knew he was Ok when he looked at me and said " Stupid place to put a fence" He has a swollen knee at the mo hobbling a bit but went swimming in the sea yesterday at Weymouth. So should be fit for Friday. Do come and say hi to us.
  17. The U15s are our future and we must give them every chance to race that we can and on as many different tracks From our point of view things are changing with invites now from quite a few clubs like Coventry when George will ride there on the 22 august (George is looking forward to that one) and also the chance to ride on tracks where he cant normally get rides like at Poole when he will get some races there when he rides in the academy league. Its great that the chances are now opening up on EL tracks so hopefully things are changing
  18. George was short changed at Birth...... he has me as his Father
  19. I have never said ban overseas riders I have enjoyed many a meeting with overseas riders. teams should be made up of riders there on merit be it British or not. I dont have a problem with teams made up of overseas riders. My gripe is that poor overseas riders get good deals extended runs and junior overseas riders when the same are not afforded our own. I will never forget the reception Mark Loram got at Poole when he returned with the World Championship Trophy. The stadium packed to rafters. It is something else when you have a British World Champ. I would love to see Scotty do it he still has a chance if he can just rasie his game that little more same with Lee if he could find the consistant form. He shows flashes of the rider he can be
  20. Agree with you there and the alarm bells should have sounded long before. Had the conversation with George about this saying that if he makes it to EL will have a lot of expectations to do well. He said no more than he would put on himself. But what i would not want to see is these lads pushed to quickly. Just hope they get the chances in the PL and EL instead of an overseas rider "quick fix" Also at the other end of the scale not many around on the 125s as a few years ago we need to do something to encourage the youngsters to have ago without a lot of expence a day for them to "Try out" some thing like that
