  4. This year is the 50th anniversary of Peter Craven's death riding for Belle Vue. At the start of the year it was announced there would be 15 guaranteed meetings this year, 14 league meetings and the Peter Craven Memorial Trophy. Now they have decided to run the Peter Craven Memorial trophy as a second half after an Elite League meeting in August! Belle Vue management what to hang there heads in shame. The management are rotten to the core. Feel sorry for Peter cravens family
  5. As the title says. The country's gone to pot. The amount of British people supporting team aus or team USA is ridiculous, what is up with you If your one of these give your head a wobble BUT why do people think this is. I understand you have your favourite rider but come on. Country comes before favourite rider surely?????? Or does it?????? Am I the one in the wrong backing the GB boys Come on team GB prove the doubters wrong, I'm a proud Brit and am behind you 100 million percent
  6. Just got back to Manchester very sun burnt. Ouch To many delays yes and a very long meeting but I thought the racing once again was too notch. Especially the final Cook I thought was to blame for the crash Glad tungate and bellego are ok. As shaders said I was next to his girlfriend. Very emotional and horrible to watch. Shows what the family of the riders must go through. That was an horrible crash BTW I left early as well for the 1st time ever And last but not least congratulations to Edinburgh

  12. Massive well done to tai And holder and hampel Majority of passing was riders moving of inside line and going backwards. I don't call that racing. It wasn't the worse GP but wasn't a great one Probably would be good to a newcomer though
  13. Im failing to understand why some people have got a problem with the statement. As it happens I do think that we should pay the fans and riders that travelled. And I was one of the aces fans against what happened and I thought we should accept the punishment given 1st of all we are not Appealing the punishment and have accepted the punishment so what's everyone's problem with it Belle vue have clearly just given there thoughts in the handling of the case and if the statement is true then the SCB ought to be ashamed at there handling of it I think it was a fair statement. Clearly wrote by a lawyer
  14. This is belle Vue's response finally BELLE Vue are to ask the BSPA for an urgent change to be made in the rule governing riders who don’t arrive for meetings because of flight problems. The Rentruck Aces have been fined £5,000 and docked three Elite League points for calling off a recent meeting against Poole for no fault of their own. They admitted they were wrong to do so after No 1 Matej Zagar and heat leader Magnus Zetterstrom missed a flight into Manchester from Munich because of a delay. But after being without the injured Artur Mroczka already, the Aces found themselves in the impossible position of charging fans to watch would basically have been a team with no top end against the powerful Pirates. They found themselves in the nightmare scenario that applies particularly to Monday night tracks like themselves and Wolverhampton where riders had been unable to get in from Sunday racing in Poland because of circumstances beyond their control. The logical move would have been to ask the BSPA for permission to bring in a guest No 1 for Zagar such as Chris Harris. But rules don’t allow this and they were faced with going into the match without the top three men in their averages. That would have been a PR disaster for speedway if they had gone ahead and the Aces’ management feel they took the wrong decision for the right reasons. They feel that with so many riders coming in from Poland for the Monday matches that the rule over guests for those marooned by flight problems needs an urgent review, especially with Sky screening live matches on a Monday. Just think of the backlash if that had been a live Sky match and the Aces had been forced to go into it without their top three riders. David Gordon said: “Yes we accept we made the wrong decision but we believed at the time for the right reasons. “For the record at around 2.30pm on the 29th April we receive a call from Matej Zagar and Magnus Zetterstrom to say they were stranded in Munich airport having missed their connecting flight to Manchester due to their Lufthansa flight from Poland being delayed. Their Lufthansa aircraft was still on stand but the gate had closed. We immediately informed our travel contacts to endeavour to get the two riders alternative flights in to the UK. But the problem we faced turned into disaster as there were no flights available to any UK airport that would get them in on time for the meeting.

“Through no fault of the two riders or the Belle Vue Club we were faced with an impossible situation of having two heat leaders stuck and Artur Mroczka out injured. We were effectively reduced to a four man team. The current rules say you cannot use an equivalent rider facility except to use two six point Premier League riders to replace top Elite League heat leaders. We genuinely felt that was an impossible situation. Therefore we considered, in the heat of the moment, to cancel the meeting using an inappropriate reason and for this we apologise. We should have stated the facts and cancelled the meeting for the actual reason plain and simple.

“We take our fair share of responsibility. However we must stress this wasn't a matter about winning or losing a speedway meeting or any financial implications. We seriously considered putting on a speedway meeting with that line up would have been a ridiculous spectacle and totally unfair for the paying spectator.

“The following day we explained the situation to an SCB Official who then later emailed us to attend an SCB hearing at 11.00am on Tuesday 14th May. As we admitted our error we did not face a full SCB tribunal. “At the SCB hearing we were shown the utmost courtesy and we received a fair hearing from the panel as we explained in detail the circumstance of the match-day problem that we encountered. I think it’s fair to say they fully understood and had good knowledge of the difficulty we had faced on the day. We left the hearing at 11.20am. “We received the SCB panel’s decision by email at 10.30am on Wednesday 15th May followed shortly after by a proposed SCB press statement. The press release accurately detailed the board’s decision. “We were seriously considering an appeal for both the amount of the fine and in our view the unnecessary double whammy of the three points deduction. The right of appeal is a fundamental right and we believe this should not be compromised in any way.

“The the SCB then issued the press statement at 4.00pm on the 15th May and we then issued our brief press statement saying that we would not make any detailed comment as we were in the process of considering an appeal.

“Incredibly the SCB press statement, together with additional inaccurate comments, apparently made in an interview, by an SCB Official, Mr Reeve, who was not present at the hearing or part of the decision making process, appeared on the Speedway GP web site on Thursday 16th May. “In the article Mr Reeve stated things that were factually wrong and totally misleading. Reeve said "the SCB board didn't want to deny Belle Vue fans the chance of seeing Poole and riders to miss out on a pay day as Belle Vue only race Poole once.” This is simply not true. Belle Vue’s 2013 fixtures clearly show we race Poole twice at home and therefore this suggests the SCB decision making rationale is flawed. “Mr Reeve also stated that the two riders "Zagar and Zetterstrom are expected to contribute to the Belle Vue fine." Again this is not completely accurate as it was not a mandatory ruling by the board but a recommendation. It is a matter for Belle Vue to decide if this is or not implemented. “We are astonished and mystified about the incredible reference Mr Reeve made with regard to the board not awarding the points to Poole because “this would have skewed the Elite League table and could possibly open the door to suspicious call-offs and it could be financially worthwhile for away promoters paying home promoters to call off meeting and give a ‘back hander’ to pay fees to promoters”. This was an amazing statement. “The story was also included in that week’s Speedway Star with the additional comments. This is very puzzling as the copy deadline is Tuesday midday and we were not informed of the SCB hearing decision until mid morning on Wednesday. This is of serious concern to us as clearly the SCB deems the release of sensitive information to the Speedway Star, which must have been released on Tuesday immediately after the SCB hearing, is a greater priority over informing Belle Vue. “We immediately emailed the SCB on 16th May as we believe the right of appeal process had been prejudiced and placed in jeopardy by the inaccurate comments made public by Mr Reeve and the inaccurate views he expressed about the reasoning behind the SCB decisions. It's clear from what transpired that Mr Reeve had a different agenda. “We emailed the SCB on four occasions complaining about the post hearing comments made by Mr Reeve and requested an explanation as to how an SCB Official can be commenting over and above an official SCB press statement and in such an inappropriate way. But we were extremely disappointed that the sport’s governing body took over seven days to provide us with the courtesy of a reply.

“Yes we made a silly mistake and we have paid the price but it appears to us the SCB prefer to remain unaccountable for their Official’s inappropriate actions. We have taken responsibility for our actions, it is a pity that others don't want to do the same. Of course we are disappointed but we will now move on.” Thursday 6th June 2013
