Hmm well, on my planet 'I don't want to get to a situation' means that it's not something that's currently the case. YMMV.
Rickardsson last night saw a situation where he could gain an advantage by infringing certainly the spirit of the rules. That he was rewarded for doing so sets a worrying precident. It was clear from Anderson's post-race interview that he had noted the referee's decision in that case when deciding to fall off in his heat, I'm sure more and more riders will follow suit in future if the situation is not addressed.
Gamesmanship is what professionals call cheating. You can dress it up how you like, Rickardsson chose to take a dive. I want to see speedway where riders are racing hard and fairly, I don't want to get to a situation where we have pampered nancy boys lobbing themselves on the floor when they think they can get an advantage, a la football.
I can't really see the distinction that you are trying to make between someone who decides to fall off when they are passed and slightly touched, but not enough to actually cause them to fall off, and someone who decides to fall off when they are passed and not touched.
Cheating is cheating, Anderson and Rickardsson both cheated and both were rewarded for it by the referee.
He was right on the inside line. Are you saying you want a situation where overtaking is effectively outlawed? Of course he touched him, but there were plenty of other situations with way more contact and no action taken. Rickardsson engineered a favourable situation with his dive and the referee fell for the con.
The decisions in heats 4 and 6 looked horrible in the stadium and they look even worse watching the replay now.
People want to see good hard racing, they don't want to see riders throwing themselves on the floor and benefiting from their cheating. Rickardson and Andersen both got 3 points when they should have got none, how many others are now going to copy their tactics?
Yeah, especially as he didn't seem to have any problems coming off it in heat 3! I've seen Roberto Pires make more of an effort to stay upright. Sad to see that kind of behaviour coming in to speedway, and being incentivised by referees.
The car parks are scattered around, so depends which you are going to. Either way, if you get back on the M4 from Newport, they should be signposted all of the way from the motorway exits.
This is for last year, but I imagine it will be the same this year.
Someone started smoking near us and was swiftly spotted by a steward and asked not to.
We were sat in the second tier, on the 4th bend and had a smashing view. I've sat in a few different places at different events in the stadium and to be fair there are no real bad spots (unless someone has put up scaffolding in front of your seat, obviously).
The Park and Ride is very well signposted, easy to find and easy to find again afterwards. I'd go for that for minimum hassle to be honest. There are places that you can park within walking distance of the stadium (eg for free outside my house ), but you need to know where. Driving around the city centre on a Saturday afternoon when you don't really know where you are going is just not worth it.
There is a car park around by the Holiday Inn, but I don't know if it's theirs or not. I walk past the damn thing every morning so I'll have a look-see tomorrow!
The station should have cleared by that time, the streaming thing works pretty well. Your other option for a Caerphilly train, I *think* you'd be able to pick it up at Queen Street station (check that out, Im not 100%) which is 5 mins walk from Central/the Stadium.
