Birmingham Brummies 2020
Col replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The Brummies were closing in on a competitive team towards the end of the season that could at least hold its own at home, until the Shanes injury then it all went sideways. His scores from reserve were impossible to replace. -
Which 3 riders would you have in team for 2020.

My crude maths gets me to 33. I can have Doyle! -

I don't have a team & would have to look at averages. Who is on a "bargain". Would like to see Drew Kemp given a chance. 2? Considering his playoff exploits Musielak on 6.2ish cannot be ignored. Becker has been the most entertaining rider I've seen on TV this year, so him. Only going to go in one direction from 5.3 Lambert on 7.8, Wright on 6.7, Nicholls on 5.3. What do I have left? -
Perhaps after seeing his 2019 playoff form Wolves should recall Tobias Musielak, wait....

Interesting, we have an identical top 9 & bottom 6.

Zmarzlik, Madsen, Sayfutdinov, Woffinden, Janowski. Doyle, Lindgren, Vaculík, Iversen, Laguta. Lindbäck, Dudek, Hancock, Žagar, Fricke.

The Speedway World Cup semi final from Västervik a few years ago had some brilliant racing but generally prefer racing at Målilla to Hallstavik out of the two recent Swedish GP venues. Both are better than Vetlanda which is the worst Swedish track. Admittedly only ever watched on TV, the only live Speedway I've seen in Sweden was the world final at Ullevi in 1991.

Yes, the league match towards the end of August. Had been hoping I'd be able to get a fair few visits to Owlerton this year with the Tigers switching to Sunday but alas only made it there once. Had seen Glasgow win at a canter against (a fairly weak) Birmingham team previously so was expecting fireworks, alas it was more of a whimper. If after the first leg the Playoff final is finely balanced hope to make it to Leicester on Saturday.

What did Josh Bates do? I thought he'd spent most of the season injured. I enjoyed my 4 visits to Perry Barr, first time I have been for what must be getting close to ten years. Was very disappointed with Glasgow on my only visit to Owlerton.

Ekstraliga fixtures are usually around 10th December. How likely is a Russian Togliatti GP in 2020?
-
Before Warsaw? No qualifying rounds in Scandinavia then.

I thought someone had said SoN finals at NSS Manchester at the end of May? Can someone confirm the likelihood of this?

I hope the Panthers have a more competitive team next year for the sake of their fans and the league. Replacing Cook with Summers was never going to work out well.
-
Masters I think, it was recorded so I whizzed through most of it. Most races were over after the second bend, so whizzed through almost all of those too. Heats 7, 9 & 11 were the only ones watching.

2019 championship riders of the year.

From my few forays to PB. ROTY - James Shanes was without doubt the best to watch. Best visitor was Eric Riss, hands down. Ellis Perks was great for Leicester, wasn't so great when guesting for the Brummies. -

Well Shanes & Morris if fit would be the first two names on the 2020 team sheet I'm guessing, if they're fit. Ellis & Aarnio to follow hopefully. After that I'd like to see Brummies go for Erik Riss, he was by far the most impressive visitor to Perry Barr that I witnessed, -
I would only keep Howarth & Becker from this years team if I were Wolves, but are there any riders out there who are better and willing to commit to British fixtures?

Swindon - Wolves Play Off Semi Final now 2nd leg 10.10. 19
Col replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Wolves rubbish, only riders worth retaining are Howarth & Becker. Heats 7, 9 & 11 were good, rest of it was gate & go. Racing over after half a lap, but better than the old Blunsdon. Swindon to win the final by 40+ on aggregate. -

Shanes seems determined to be back according to Brummies website post of last night, if anyone attended the award night was Ashley Morris in attendance and how are his injuries?
