I'm far from a fan of the racing at my local track - haven't been since the SooperTroopers farewell! But Eurosport cameras at the NSS tomorrow will paint a poor picture of British Speedway regardless of how the racing is with 3 riders missing. -

In that case it was rather foolish to schedule a fixture on the date of a FIM event at which several home riders were likely to be unavailable. Guessing there was a possibility Zagar & Kurtz could also have been involved. Europsort cameras should go to Monmore. -

Using R/R for Fricke is a crazy decision. Stars & Tigers don't have a meeting. NKI, Holder, Ellis maybe even Musilak, Pickering would be better option. With Etheridge returmomg from injury, Brennan could end up taking a ride for the missing #1 -

Wish I'd known before I was strong armed into going to see Maverick instead tonight.

Complin failed to score from 6 rides on Sunday.

Impressive result for Wolves, especially considering how good Tigers were on Thursday. Musielak proving to be signing of the season again. Howarth & Cook need to do more at Monmore, wouldn't expect much from Ellis & Holder
-
I think you are knit picking TBH. I had driven to & from Sheffield - 170 miles and it was late. Cook did deserve his heat 15 outing, whether Stead would have put him in heat 15 if the match result depended upon it will never be known. What I had intended to comment on Cook was... Cook's up & down Owlerton form was always going to be up rather than down when Belle Vue were the opponent's. I was more disappointed with Fricke, Kurtz & Zagar than impressed by Cook.

My only real criticism of Brennan is the first corner he chose to ride in heat 14 after making a cracking gate.

Firstly congratulations to Sheffield Tigers on a superb team performance, if anyone didn’t rank the Tigers as favorites before tonight, they surely must now and they did so without their top two being particularly impressive - Ellis conceding the only 1-5 of the night & Holder was passed superbly by Fricke in heat 13. After a poor first ride Musielak was easily quickest rider on show, typical gate & gone Pole, because when he didn’t gate in his opening ride he was nowhere, thereafter he was untouchable and I’m convinced he will make a mockery of his 6.2 starting average. Suspect many will regard him as the signing of the season when trophies are dished out. Howarth, Mountain & Nielsen all did more than you’d expect. The only place to start with the Aces performance is Fricke, how can someone who wins the Warsaw GP concede 5-1’s in his opening two rides in this company? At least personal pride saw him improve but 1 heat win is not enough from a number 1. Next up could be the other participant in those Tigers 5-1 which put the Aces 8 points behind, but no that can wait. The enigma that is Brady Kurtz is next for criticism. Just as it looked like the visitors might get back into the meeting following the only 5-1, Zagar comes in as a TS after winning heat replacing Blodorn, partnering Kurtz. After an eternity of leaving his bike idling at the tapes the start-marshall has to point out his chain has come off. One good ride when he lowered the colours of Cook & Holder. I’ve criticized the two Aces Aussies first because as captain & #1 they set a shoddy example, but next up is Brennan, Harsh maybe as he is a rising star but he was as anonymous as Fricke in those two 5-1’s. He made the gate a few times, yet left the other riders the freedom of Owlertons quick wide outside on the first turns. Most notably Howarth in rerun of heat 14, when Brennan decided it would be more useful to clamp Wright to the white line! It is Blodorn’s second visit to Owlerton, but it is widely regarded that Sheffield have the weakest reserve pairing in the league (that's what happens when you sign such a good top 5). 1 point. Most 4 point Brits would have done more The engine room…. I’m pretty sure Zagar gave up after heat 9, Kurtz chain came off, when he’d agreed to a TS off gate 4. Outsmarted Howarth that heat, then succumbed to a similar move when Nielsen passed him a few heats later. Wright is the only BV rider that might be satisfied with his performance. Might, definitely not should

What is going on in Owlerton/Hillsborough tonight, never seen traffic like that on A61 before. Glad the weather brightened up after I past Bolsover, was torrential most of the way from Derby.
-
Think tonight's result depends on Brennan as he'll probably have 7 rides, he's gone reasonably well at Owlerton previously so could be close.

That's the thing about sport - not ever competitor is "on it" every time! Which team has the most "on it" riders this evening will probably win!

Aces return to Owlerton looking for revenge after their home & away defeats in the Northern League Cup. Aces stronger septet now with Zagar replacing Allen, but it must have been a long time since the Slovenian rode Owlerton. 2005 with Reading Racers I think! Fricke's form after winning the Warsaw GP seems to have improved and who knows what the enigma that is Brady Kurtz will do. Sheffield are solid outfit, from seeing their results but Cook's form has been a disappointment, while Musielak has been up & down on his return to these shores after a few seasons away. The Tigers will be keen to bounce back strongly from their home defeat to Wolves last Thursday.

Don't know how it came across on the stream but watching it live, it was a good meeting which got better as the racing developed. As the promotion were keen to get it finished early and I was texting updates I didn't get chance to go to the toilet until the gap between heats 10 & 11 when the announcer was interviewing Fricke, I was regretting the refillable soft drink at the Harvester long before then! First comment is that it is nice to park on tarmac rather than a muddy field - 1 improvement on last year, I'd say the crowd was slightly down compared to the twice I visited the EoESg last year. The only rising stars that looked competitive in this company were Brennan & Thomas, guessing Lemon thought Douglas may have issues swapping to his second bike - mentioned by Masters when interviewed so took a punt using Brennan. In fairness Douglas & Masters gave up chasing Fricke and team rode Brennan out of it toward the end of that heat. Thomas kept Kurtz honest for a few laps. Gate 4 appeared to have a big advantage at the start which disappeared by the end. Without doubt the best ride of the night was MPT passing both Witches in heat 7, other than that Panthers were disappointing - the couple of times Harris gated a queue formed behind him, but I only recall Holder passing him, it was obvious Holder was way quicker throughout, Harris only got in front from the gate by grass tracking to push Holder wide. King was the slowest non RS on show, when he did make the gate and he did a few times he went backwards. IMO Fricke was the quickest rider on the night, with Holder & Doyle not far behind, think Belle Vue made a mistake choosing gate 4 in the semi, advantage had gone. Kings Lynn probably deserved to win, best pairing overall and their 7-2 over their local rivals was the best heat. I had moved from start/finish straight stand to first bend so I didn't get stuck on car park for final, Lawson was obviously looking what was going on behind him throughout, because of fence & no elevation couldn't see if Ellis clipped him entering the last lap but it looked like he did. Other than that Ellis was largely anonymous! Sheffield got to final without me really noticing him. Similar story for Kurtz, who is proving rather an inconsistent enigma, the only thing I remember him doing of note was making a mistake that allowed Ellis to pass him, nothing like peerless previous visit to Alwalton. Wolves seemed to start strong, Masters looked good, Douglas looked slow. Douglas swapped bikes and was much quicker, but Masters faded as the dirt went wide, yet he was the first rider to sweeping outside pass overcoming in Lawson heat 6. Nearly a month until the next round at Foxhall! Lets hope Peterborough don't declare their top 4 unavailable and go with three RS riders. I can se some iffy pairings towards the end of this from the teams out of contention - the only negative comment, for now.
-
Of course they could but it's very unlikely. I'm sure some maths genius could figure it out!
-
OK great, thanks for confirming.

Updates has a line-up, I'm far from convinced it is correct - the clubs are listed as riding in alphabetical order?
