2007 Grand Prix Competiton
Col replied to Steve Turner's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I thought I was looking at certain elimination at an early stage, of this years GP competition, at the semi final stage. I should have known Crumpy wouldn't fail me and that Anderson on 6/1 was the bargain I suspected. Well done to Bomber. Easily the most exciting rider in the GP's. Felt a bit for Greg, he could have ploughed into the back of Hans in the semi and got the Dane excluded. Too much of a gentleman I guess. So Nicki... can you keep it up, you've been bloody awful at some places in recent GP seasons, Cardiff one of them. Thats why I suspect Mssr Crump & Hancock aern't hitting tha panic button just yet. And Subedei how does the "Beggar" manage to out perform Gollob in the Poles element with a broken thumb? Get well soon AJ. Ohh dear Mr Lindback. *waves* -
But there sure are 30000 gate & go, dull as dishwater Poles that are ready, right?

2007 Line Up - Any Thoughts
Col replied to NJT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Lets hope not, the one track Pony that's useless everywhere else's presence is mostly pointless. Jagus will last a year in the GP's Chrzanowski II. I bet after a month they wish thay hadn''t held a final so PK would be in rather than him. Lindback I can't see keeping his place and if he has the right mentaility he'll do an Andersen. Richardson, Iversen & Pepe are toast already. Out with Gollob, also, pointless these days outside Poland. Zagar should stay. I'm guessing PK might get one spot in the GP's, as I cant think of more than Jonsson in the Swedish dept. And Lindback's been woeful, pretty much. If BSI go for a second Brit then Harris, did more than Stead at the SWC, didn't choke at Cardiff. Even though I think Stead's the better rider. -
Well Done Andreas / Andreas Now Hurt

A long overdue win for probably my favorite GP foriegner. Crumpy being an honourable Brit! -
Robyn the move Hans pulled down the home straight was a disgrace, I wouldn't be surprised if the 'red mist' had descended on Scott entering the second lap.

World Cup Meeting 2 @ Malilla 18/07/06
Col replied to crazysue's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Having watch about 5 minutes of the replay on Sky Sports 1... Sky are drivel, their reruns are worthless, show Lindback coming under Hamill. Not Lindback missing the start 40 times. If Sky employed people to work the camera and edit's that had an iota of speedway knowledge they'd have a product on their hands that only football would beat. Gjedde beat Lindback, Czech ref bottled it, home banker. -

Brandon .. Bah! Far too easy a track to get the hang of. Though it is surely the best stadium. Owlerton becuase it's a decent Stadium. Stead flies there, Screen does also. Only some of the Dane's/Aussie's are likely to have seen it before. Foxhall, strange track it's not big but rides like a big track from what I've seen on the TV. Nicholls, Louis, Loram obviously know it inside out. Only disadvantage would be that Poland with Hampel, Protasiewicz, Miskowiak & Gollob would be more competitive. -

Agree absolutely, Owlerton or Foxhall should be where any SWC event is held over here for maximum advantage to our boys. -
In Poland.. Nicholls, Loram, Louis, Stead & Richardson. At Reading.. Nicholls, Richardson, Loram, Harris & Screen.

"earth Calling Mr Shovlar" Reprised

Shovlar is comedy. I can understand why Belle Vue & Coventry posters dont like him, he never leaves their teams alone for a second. -

I didn't have enough to barter with having missed the first round. 150 > 780 aint bad though. Cheers Crumpy & AJ! -
What 30 yards behind everyone 50 yards after the tapes? Good god we are desperate for him to succeed aern't we. And lack faith that Nicholls, Richardson & Stead will do us justice. Nicholls has been in two of three semi's so far if he keeps that ratio up he wont be dropped. Who knows with Stead, may choke, may not be good enough, may flourish. Throwing Bridger in their this early would be detrimental to his career, was Tricky in the World final at 16? No. Kennett, King & Wright have the potential to make GP riders, before we look at Bridger. Before the older Stead & Harris are mentioned. GP riders are older than both Zagar, Hampel & Iversen aside who are all about the same age as both. Brit's generally develop a little later in life anyway since Grasstracking doesn't put a great emphasis on gating. Which is why in the early stages of their careers Brit's cant gate.

Any News On The Swc Qualifiers
Col replied to Col's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Ermolenko & Werner are injured so that sorts out the USA team. How is Ferjan riding for both Slovenia & Hungary? USA should clean up with H&H. Germany v Finland should be close. Where is Povazhny for Russia? -
I assume Poland, Sweden, GB, Denmark, Australia, Czech Republic are seeded. Where are the other nations qualifying meetings? Anyone got teams?
-
Not that I've noticed... Whats the team likely to be at Swindon? Richardson Screen Norris Loram Nicholls Harris Stead Jonsson Lindgren Lindback P Karlsson Rickardsson Alden M Karlsson Should be close!
-
Well there is your reason for the back straight being shut, access to it would have to be via the 3d/4th bend unless you want fans trampling through the pits mid meeting.
-
Drudging up comments from the 2004 programme I think they were closed to building work that was going on to extend the carpark that is behind the 3rd/4th corners but that was completed a while ago. To be fair to CVS I think it's shut down by Ladbrooks the stadium owners rather than Wolverhampton Speedway.
-
No idea I'm afriad Kevin. Access to the 3rd/4th bends and backstraight were supposed to be returning last season, but have heard nothing about it this season. It gets a little cramped on the home straight when Belle Vue, Poole & Coventry turn up!
-
You obviously haven't seen Nicholls, McGowan, Nicki P, Hamill or Gjedde ride the place then have you. Maybe you should have said with mainly the home riders coming through of Poole riders choosing thw wrong lines. I certainly remember Bjarne P overtaking at Monmore this year though. It shouldn't be held at Monmore as fans can only populate the home straight, rest of the stadium is out of bounds. Also think the Sheffield Stadium for a PL venue is good enough to host such a meeting, IMO it's almost as good as Brandon. Since Screen & Stead absolutely fly around the place could also give GB an advantage. Track would need to be composed of shale rather than the mud it's usually composed of though.
-
Steve do you like any track other than Wimbourne Rd?
-
It'd be interesting to see the Pole's around Purfleet wouldn't it!
