Event 1 Vojens 23/7/16
Col replied to allthegearbutnaeidea's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Fairly predictable event, horrible race circuit as ever in Vojens. Very little passing. Denmark must be hoping the Aussie's beat the Swede's in Vasterik else they're not gonna make the final. -

Really enjoyed the meeting from Güstrow. Agree the SEC would be a great way for Brit's like Lambert to get some quality International Experience, ridiculous if it is the BSPA that are denying their riders such an opportunity. Looking forward to the next event. Will be supporting Vaculik, Kołodziej & Lebedevs for the rest of the series due to no Brit's.

I don't know how it double posted, thanks for link.

I can't see a topic for this, so apologies for any potential double post. But I've just watched it as my TiVo box taped it. What a fantastic meeting, the rain helped in making the track and results somewhat random & unpredictable. Why are no Brits involved in this? Surely Robert Lambert at least would be more competitive than Anders Thomsen, Peter Ljung and Tobias Busch. And an extra event at 'the National Speedway Arena" could be accommodated in the series.

Just watched Lions v Indians, a week late admittedly but been on holiday. Track was like Exeter used to be, super fast but very little passing after the third turn. I generally support the Indians over other teams, Iversen is my favourite rider of the current batch, I like watching Lindback race & I don't mind Lindgren. Surely it is time for the Indians to dump Pepe & Joablonski, who else to they have in the squad?

I will admit that Polish riders general failure in the British League is due to their inability to commit to every meeting. And that is down to British Speedway being unable to commit to a regular night, but having watched King beat Zmarzlik at the GP, who went on to pass Hancock in the final are British riders ever given a chance?

Matt Fords Vision For The Elite League In 2017.
Col replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Do we really need more fixtures? Doubt it. Sweden & Poland don't. We need a fixed race night for the top division teams, Monday is the obvious choice since that suits Sky. You know your team will have a meeting every Monday night, you can follow them home & away. Sky or BT or Eurosport (flog to highest bidder) can do their bit by televising the Cup matches (do North/South league stage, then KO with top 2 from each) which would be on Wednesday, I think Danish League is Wed, Swedish Div 2 Thursday? But I can't think of a PL Wednesday team. -
I stated a while back that I thought this was the worst Bee's team I have ever witnessed, after watching the Kings Lynn meeting at Brandon my opinion has not changed, but at least they showed some fight in that meeting. What options are there keeping King, Bates, Harris & Garrity (if he is likely to be fit anytime soon). Kasprzak looks OK on that average, but doesn't look half the rider he was a few years ago. Must be a roll the dice time, else play offs are out the question.

Coventry V Kings Lynn -monday 11th July - 7.30pm
Col replied to NeilWatson's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'm sure if they only sold 3/4's the car park the developers would be onto a winner. And the events held there would have enough parking still. Very weird meeting, Kings Lynn must have been gutted to come away with only 3 points. -
Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 13/7/16 Elite Lge B
Col replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Went to this fixture while on holidaying in Bournemouth. Shame neither team had 7 riders. Pretty poor showing from Lakeside, who apart from Jonsson looked pretty feeble. His ride a both protect the 5-1 with Bridger while racing Andersen was the best ride of the evening. I couldn't really see the 1st bend move by Kurtz to pass Bridger that the announcer was raving about due to the position I was stood on the entrance to the third bend. The whole Poole team rode well. Lawson, Nilsson & late in the meeting Mear did OK for Lakeside. Unfortunately the heat 2 spill for Kerr seemed to take the wind out of his sails & I think Starke can consider himself lucky he wasn't excluded for that incident. And I do wish the Pirates would invest in a water truck, I have so much dust in my hair. -
Belle Vue V Wolverhampton 06-07-2016
Col replied to GregoryM's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This was TiVo'ed. Strange meeting really. Belle Vue can thank their Fricke & their reserves for winning it, Wolves can thank Lindgren, Karlsson, Masters & Thorsell for getting the a point with crucial heat wins from each. Klindt score suggests he rode OK, but he cost Masters big time in one heat. WTF was Adams thinking choosing gates 1 & the graveyard gate 3 in heat 15? Off night for Belle Vue but 3 points banked, track seemed slicker thank when I've seen it on Sky before. Belle Vue can't afford a night like this from Zagar & Nicholls if they make the play offs. -
Having just watched the meeting at Blunsden on Monday, this could be the worst Coventry team I think I have ever witnessed. The 2004 team was bad but it had more character than that team. Kasprzak for a rider that has finished 2nd in a GP series around a track he once called home was pathetic. You know what you get from Harris & King. Bates, is frankly disappointing considering he beat Lambert to the U21 title. I guess he is an Owlerton expert. But if he does gate, he can ride a sensible line. With Garrity back the Bee's maybe a bit more dynamic, but Woryna & Serjeant are pretty hopeless. As is Kasprzak on that form.

Lakeside Hammers V Wolverhampton Wolves - 1 June On Sky
Col replied to TonyE's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Another match I found on TiVo. Which I quite enjoyed but I can't help feeling watching Speedway riders at Purfleet is like watching a boxer fight with one hand tied behind their backs. I guess due to setup, you have to commit to hogging the inside or going very wide, which no rider from Wolves was committed to doing, although most paid lip service to that line. I didn't think Lindgren was as bad as people some mooted, great first ride albeit defensive then went backwards, then went outside for a win and the committed to inside for final two rides with Kylmakorpi. Who I thought did a reasonable job, obviously doesn't like visiting Lakeside any more, I remember him riding wider than anyone there during his Hammers years. Impressed with Clegg. Howarth, Masters & Thorsell probably deserved more points than they scored. Bech was rubbish considering he has done many laps of the Arena Essex Raceway. Jonsson was special, don't know how he can find grip inside or out no matter how he sets his bike up. Kennett & Bridger were dirt chasing entertaining, but my god the management need to find away so they don't have to ride together often, against a rider willing to fully commit to the outside they will take each other out. Pairing them with Lawson or Nilsson would be fine because they can ride the inside, both of whom had solid but unspectacular nights. Kerr & Mear did very little, Lakeside wont make the play offs with them in the team. Think heat 15 showed the limitations of Bridger. Well done to Lakeside on denying Wolves a point on there travels for only the second time this year. Is gate 1 always that advantageous at Purfleet? -
This was on the TiVo when I got home. Well done Kings Lynn for getting a point. Lambert impressive despite harsh 2nd & 3rd rides, Iversen equally despite early referee decisions. Hukenbeck improved as he got to grips with conditions, Rose impressive before injury. So have Wolves decided to be a gate n go team? Slicker Monmore than I think I have ever seen. Howarth looked lost without a dirt line, and was clearly trying too hard, I'd put it down to rider error but I've seen allot of Roynon and he was doing the same. Batchelor was awful.
-
They all did about 3 laps practice before the meeting was about to start, there was never a possibility of heat 1.
-
Think you will find most people were standing.

The Peter Craven Memorial meeting to open the new stadium will be my first visit to Belle Vue, the city of Manchester for a while & a speedway meeting in the UK for quite awhile. Where is it going to be best to park?

IMO these 9 are in regardless... Tai Woffinden Greg Hancock Nicki Pedersen Matej Zagar Niels-Kristian Iversen Chris Holder Jason Doyle Maciej Janowski Jaroslaw Hampel Peter Kildemand If Kildemand gets into the top 8 or not he should be in. If Doyle doesn't maintain his top 8 position he deserves another chance. If Doyle or Janowski drop out the top 8 and Michael Jepson Jenson get in, the they have more to think about. 3 Qualifiers Bartosz Zmarzlik Piotr Pawlicki Chris Harris Which leaves one spot. It should go to Emil Sayfutdinov but I have a feeling Antonio Lindback will get it down to the need for Swedish interest in the GP's.
