Speedway World Cup 2017
Col replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Woffinden would not have got us anywhere near Sweden. Unless Eastbourne's diabolically shaped track hosts a GP final Poland are not going to be beaten with that quartet. -

So Rosco's words of wisdom. If in doubt, ride the white line.... What a team manager, WTF were Cook & Lambert doing? -

I have just watched events 1&2. Fantastic stuff from Västervik. Can't believe the Danes are out, since when I last visited Poland for a SWC event, they won it, on the last corner of the last lap in brilliant style. The Danes & the Czechs need new team managers. Dreadful Joker choices. I don't care which SGB Premiership team they sign for any team signing Ļebedevs & Milík are on to a winner. -

With Holder & Batchelor providing the away resistance? Neither were good at Monmore before their relative lack of form issues, I'm surprised they got 40. -

11 heats of gate & go rubbish. Has Ford not paid his water rates? First bend is more like scrambler action than speedway. -
Tungate is an improvement on Sedgeman. But he very much blows hot, cold, hot, hot, cold.

Kings Lynn Stars V Belle Vue Aces 21/06/17
Col replied to semion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Harris. Nobody forced KL to sign Holder on an average that was unattainable (12+). But nobody expected Holder to be as rubbish as he has been. In fairness to him he has also been rubbish in Sweden, Poland & the GPs. So he is not in total reduce average to return to Poole mode next year. Lambert was always going to improve, Batchelor wasn't much of a gamble on that average, Huckenbeck was always going to be a free scoring reserve. If KL have had the option to bring Bjerre back instead of Holder & bolster the middle order that would have been the route to go down. But I didn't think that at the time, when teams were announced early in the year thought KL would be the most solid team. In Retrospect Stars should have signed Bjerre instead of Holder and fitted Schlien in. -

Chris Holders pathetic efforts for Kings Lynn will surely mean you get a rejuvenated #1 on a pathetic average next year, Ellis is performing similarly rubbish for Swindon. Hes another shoe-in. How do you Poole fans sleep at night? -

Well done Aces on an unexpected away win. Gutted for the Stars, who clearly need to get rid of a few riders and draft in replacements before it is to late if it is not already. Can Stars retain Huckenbeck, Batchelor & Lambert while bringing in Andžejs Ļebedevs & Václav Milík? Holder is under performing and needs to go, despite the rider he was 5 years ago. Stars need to be ruthless. -
I hate posting in Wolves threads for fear of a SB's response. But how long is Riss likely to be out?

Are you a massive Holder fan by any chance? :)

Don't have an issue with Lamberts omission nor Bewleys, for one horrible moment in the final I thought Cook & Worrall would get so concerned with each other that Barker would be at Cardiff. 5 eliminations would be good for a British Wildcard. And I don't have a problem with Barker, generally, when I was a Brummies season ticket holder for several seasons he was probably the most entertaining rider at Perry Barr, as a visitor or home rider. But his time has been & passed.

Should read... Morris has surprised everyone with their performances to date. -
Joining Poole on a minus -1.50 average. You heard it here first folks.

The points scored by the two R/R's made the difference, credit Lemon for getting the most out of the facility. -
Good win for Rebels, glad changes have worked out. Bjerre, Worrall & Fricke must be gutted by the performance of their peers.
-
From reading the updates, it sounds like a great meeting. Glad Harris has found some form, finally. But glad Stars got back to winning ways.
-
With the two teams they signed that is pretty much the result I would have expected TBH, had hoped for more from Ellis, alas. At least Holder finally turned up for the Stars. I hope this away win kick starts their season.

Was at the Gorzow GP last year which was fabulous, was there when Bomber won in Cardiff which was fantastic but this was better in terms of excitement. Lindgren is riding like a man possessed in a good way, fair play to him. Such a clever turn back in the final and such a great race with Doyle earlier in the meeting. Shame he is a Wolf! Pedersen maybe the new Harris in terms of scoring but he is still capable of being an utter danger to riders he can out gate which is something Harris was never capable of. -
I thought Gomolski would need time. If given it, I thought he may have topped the averages for the Lions this year. He is also an entertainer (from what I've seen of him in Sweden via the TV). When Lebedevs was ditched before the season, I was disappointed for Leicester fans in terms of entertainment, but understood it. King & Bates are solid EL performers. If Garrity secures more points than Gomolski would, fair enough. And I'm glad to see a young Brit get a Premiership ride. But it diminishes the Lions as a potential force. And I hope it doesn't mean Gomolski won't be seen the the British League again.

Belle Vue V Somerset - 1/5/17 , 12pm
Col replied to WestGorton1884's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Why midday start? I've got to Stockport to watch Sale Sharks on a Friday in an hour leaving Wolverhampton City centre at about 18:15 a fair few years ago. The conversion of the M6 to SmartMotorways made my journeys to the NSS last year almost 3 hours, which is ridiculous. Local Somerset fans will have at least an hours drive up the M5 before joining the M6 in middle Black Country. I hope the leave early. I could have been tempted to visit for a 14:00 start time but hey ho. -

Tungate has always been pretty hit & miss, odd choice for a #1 but I guess averages dictated. -
British U21 Final Poole 26/4/17
Col replied to sommelier's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I have seen reasonable racing at Poole on TV occasionally, but it has been rubbish every time I've visited while holidaying on the South Coast. Far from the ideal venue for such an event. At least the best British U21 rider won. Hope the meeting boosts the confidence of Ellis who seems to be struggling.
