Simon Stead - The Last Lap - 25/03/18

It's strange. Your local track is Monmore, you go to Owlerton it seems massive. Monmore is still my local track but I have been once in 10 years (PK farewell). Visiting only NSS & Polish tracks of late, I get to Sheffield and it seems small. Vaculik was class above when he needed to be, his defeat of Kurtz & NKI in the final was expected, the only rider that may have troubled him but would have needed a 20 yard head start to account for his gating deficiencies was Howarth who looked very fast. His points don't say much but Bellego looked very quick & brave. Never thought Owlerton would suit Andersen & despite the points he scored he didn't look comfortable. Not sure what happened to Doyle, there wasn't any real any coming together between Pieszczek & him that I noticed, but spent 5 minutes on the centre green then rode back with his leg sticking out. For his first 5 rides with other riders on the track in the UK & on his first visit to Owlerton, Pieszczek looked promising. -

Do is anyone know the riding order? -
I enjoyed the meeting but my god they dragged it out. I'm sure I've seen a tractor complete as many laps in a night. Steve Worrall was superb, might have got 15 points if the heat he was off the useless gate 4 wasn't so tough. Superb double pass in heat 10. Also enjoyed Wright all night, superb going between TB/CC in heat 9 and going wider & wider trying to get the better of Doyle. Bachelor's battles with Bjerre, Doyle & the disappointing Tungate were good. Bewley defeating Doyle & then in a match race Nicholls. Take a bow, young man. Jacobsen was decent, showed speed although a bit unsteady at times. Congratulations Jason Doyle, shame he gated in the final.

Peter Kildemand completes the line-up. Does anyone have to hand the full line-up? -

Which rider is to improve the most in 2018
Col replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So in 2016 Zmarzlik was not at reserve? If so his 9.9 Polish Ekstraliga average that year is much better than 7.95 2012 figure that Ward achieved at the same age. Of course this is not totally representative, Leon Madsen had a higher Polish Ekstraliga average than Jason Doyle in 2017. -

Bewley has had one season in top tier British Speedway, who knows what he could achieve. My post was responding to someone asking what Ward averaged at Lambert's current age. I also said that I hoped Bewley would be do OK in the Aces 1-5 in response to a separate question. Ward was a special talent, while Lambert's same age stats do not compare well to him, they could well do in comparison to Doyle, Holder & Woffinden. All who have been World Speedway Champion, which Ward will never be, sadly. But I don't think staying at Kings Lynn was best for Lambert in 2018. -

Would be interesting to see how Zmarzlick compares, average wise at same age on the continent. -

Darcy Ward wold have been 19 in May 2011, his EL average for the 2011 season was 8.94. I would hope Bewley would do fine in the 1-5 of the Ace's lineup. -
I would think they would have to re-declare or use the 1 month injury replacement. If they do re-declare, if Serjeant or (more likely) Newman manage to increase their averages above that of Bates when the first set of GSA's appear it could be an interesting decision for the Lions management.

Who are likely to be the final two Newcastle Riders?

2017 average is on a par with his 2015 average wouldn't take it for granted he will improve on that. For me the two riders who will increase their average the most are Kacper Woryna & Dan Bewley. Belle Vue's 3 Aussies could improve. Not sure on the other Pirates, James Shanes aside. I expect Danny King will have a good year with Hans Andersen, Martin Vaculik & potentially Krystian Pieszczek all above him in the averages. Should be more dialed into Beaumont Sports Complex track also. Unless Robert Lambert makes great strides I'm failing to see anyone in the Stars team who will improve their average same with Wolves, Cameron Heeps aside. After poor 2017's Krzysztof Kasprzak & Edward Kennett should improve their averages, also expect Stuart Robson to have a decent year at reserve. Some improvers for Somerset & Swindon in the among the reserves & second strings. -
Who Finishes Where 2018

Podium - Woffinden, Zmarzlik, Doyle. Top 8 - Sayfutdinov, Lindgren, Dudek, Janowski, Zagar Close but... - Hancock, Vaculik Also rans - Pedersen, Pawlicki, Laguta, Holder, Cook. -
How many Poles turn up for event 3. Because I've been to virtually empty stadiums to watch the race-off in Poland.
-
Event 1 is in Teterow on the Saturday. It is safe to assume as it is on a Tuesday that Event 2 will be in Sweden.

How will Martin Vaculik fare in the U.K.?

Stead, Andersen & King between them should sort his setup. -
http://www.speedwaygb.co/premiershipannouncements18 Yep.
-
Holders 2015 average for Poole was pretty much on a par with what he achieved with Kings Lynn last year.
-
Haha. I don't even think the Poole track, at its absolute worst is as bad as Gdańsk.
-
Did he not do enough meetings for Gorzow to make the Lista Klastfikacyjna? Grigorij Laguta is listed, only completed 7 meetings. Gdańsk is a horrible track.
