Grand Prixs is where you see the top boys putting it in the line. Team racing for riders is less important whether it be UK Poland Sweden or Denmark. Riders know there is another meeting the next day or the one after. Plus I wonder how many of the top boys are on guaranteed money with their clubs ?

As I recall Tiddler always had trouble getting out of the gate. Being as there wasn't much of him he use to spin up at the gate when he dropped the Clutch and seemed to hang on with as much weight over the front of the bike to keep it down. Always good value, and a full throttle type of guy. Good Third heat leader/ first 2nd string in the team consisting of Lee, Betts and Hellsen.

Starman for me. The guy puts across a balanced argument on all Speedway related subjects, in particular Poole Pirates. Thinking about it with his wealth of knowledge now that Mr Ford is moving on it really wouldn't surprise me to see Starman and Shovlar take over at Wimborne. I don't know about the young bit Trees something s seem better with age. Back in the 70s it felt a truely Lynn team. Riders cloning through the Nursery at Boston. The same riders each year with minor adjustments. GB, Lee was special some real big names of Speedway were put to the sword by a 16/17 year old. By 18 he was a scalp that other riders wanted. Incredible when you look at what 18 year olds there are today on The World stage. He was just a natural and of course wasn't a great gater which made it even better.

For me, when he started as a 16 year old his early years were the most enjoyable I had watching Speedway. Not seen anything as exciting since.
