They dont write them like that anymore Bryn ( thank ****) Could you give us a chorus of "Black knight in White satin"...or something like that it was called.
-
Oh Bugger Bryn dont tell me you left ya Max Boyce LP and 10 Woodbines there ? Still a doctors Note should be enough to get you ya Pontypool Front row record back.

Be interesting to know who's name is on the header lease. If Mr Bartlett took out the lease in his own name, the landlord has every right to go after him personally for not only the outstanding rent, but for the rent on the remainder of the lease. Also Bartlett has another business, it cannot be doing him to many favours with this kind of publicity. **** sticks. If the landlord has locked the gates then I assume he has taken control of any assets that lay within those gates. So if someone is looking to keep it going down there, they need to get hold of the landlord, before he flogs off whatever bits and bobs there are.

I am going for Professor Plum In The Kitchen with the candlestick.

Tom has to be back next year, on the that average. he is worth a lot more than that. Plus his leadership, and team riding is worth a few extra points as well. I dont think we will see the Topinka of a 9 point plus average, but still has much to offer. if of course him and Buster can agree terms. After Doolan being got ride of, It would be silly to start count chickens etc. I really wonder if this seasons team will be what Buster wants or more what he is prepared to spend. In fairness to the bloke he is between a rock and a hard place. He needs to put together an attractive team, who will challenge for honours, after the let down of the 10 side. Offset against that he cant afford to go gungho and throw money at the problem. With crowd levels expected to be down, and his Football Club expected to make a loss in the first year. It wont be easy.

You did say Mr MAY ? didnt you ? -
I am sure the numbers did drop come the end of the season. Nothing depending on the meetings, cold weather, Poor season, race night changes. However I assume when it stated that the crowds held up, it was based on an overall average for the whole season. Plus dont forget the 7000 ( reported crowd) that came in for the Speedway World Cup. Which would impact on takings for food, beer etc sold in the season.
-
However when you start to factor in such things as Sponsorship, overseas booking, Individual meetings, guest bookings, dole Money ( ) then it looks a little different. Plus dont forget you're average is worked on a 12 point system. Top riders most ly get 5 rides, Plus RR, and double pointers also. take a rider on £80 a point, he scores an 18 point Max, he earns £1440 not a bad nights work. Do riders no longer get start money ?
-
I do not disagree, But Buster gets in decent crowds. It was stated in the Star in the Kings Lynn section, a few weeks back, that the crowds at The Norfolk Arena had help up during the past season. This despite a shocking season for The Stars ( compared to the last 5 seasons). Plus Buster is one of only a handful of Premier League Promoters who own their own track, so no rent outlay. He has also sorted out the Local Football Club, and apparently turn the ground into a much improved staduim. Plus shown his commitment by signing a couple of Players there on long term contrcts, which is a little Unusual at that level of Football. he obviuosly is not afraid to spend in certain areas.
-
Buster knows that after this season he needs to produce a side that will challenege for honours. He needs to get the people in, so has to offer an attractive side. My only concern is that if he isnt prepared to pay the going rate for Doolan ( if that is the case) then will he be treating all riders the same ? If you are right about the Lynn going for a price structured team, then you may have to throw the likes of Brundle and Allot into the mix. Oh what joy

There are many parts of Speedway that need looking at. However while it is self governing, then cant see it happening. I recently read the Mike Lee book, and guess what people were saying the same about the people who run Speedway, back then. what has changed in 30 years ? Answer...sod all

How many meets a season do the danes do on a Wednesday ? I really find it hard to believe that changing race nights to accommodate one rider is an opition
-
Just to suit one rider ? I cant see that happening. fans are used to a Wednesday night fix, and I cant see Chapmans risking that.
-
Reading in todays Lynn News, it states that Bjerre will be riding in the Dannish League next season, can someone explain to me how that will work ?
-
Long may it continue, well for next season at least. The way Big Stuff ended the season he must be looking like a genuine number one for Rye next season.
-
and not forgetting Big Stuff and 747.

Of course any Club finds transfer monies welcoming. However that should be a bonus, not what you would base a sound business structure on. The Monies from Batch, Ward and now Doolan will be a nice nest egg for the Promotion. Do you remember people complainning when Nermark came to Lynn ? and certainly not when he was signed for a 2nd year. They just loved the entertainment the guy had to offer. Why should Bjerre be treated any different. Ok P,Boro might have got a good deal over Buster, but what goes around comes around. Think back to when Mildenhall was purchased, and the riders that came Lynn's way in that little deal.
-
Screamer, How does getting a fee for the sale of a rider effect the fans directly ? I have yet to receive my cut of the Darcy Ward transfer, have you had yours ? If Buster is happy to keep Bjerre as a non asset rider, then why should the fans be unhappy ? Buster is the man in counting house, he knows what works for his business, and what doesnt. Riders whoever they are are only on "loan" anyway. I just want to see decent racing, young riders improving, I really dont give a stuff who "owns" their contract. Like i have said before, I cant understand how a rider warrents a transfer fee, when 1. They are self employed and 2. they are only contracted during the Speedway season by X number of different so called owners, in X number of different Country's
-
We had a new Aussie at the start of season 2010. They dont always work out. Its a fact of Speedway life, Riders move about, through varying reasons. Think back to when we had Nermark ( moved on) Batch (sold) Doolan ( tried his hand at Elite and then couldnt be fitted in at Lynn)Ward (sold) yet there is always the next name along on the conveyor belt. It gives me great pleasure to see riders develop and move on to bigger and better things. I really dont care who they belong to. After all as self-employed individuals who are in effect are out of contract at the end of each season. Plus ride for X number of other clubs in different country's, do they really belong to anyone ?
-
Riders come and go all the time. Why cant we just enjoy them while they are there ? The thing works both ways. Riders decide to move on, Promotions move riders on. Look at this season, where wholesale was changes were made mid season. Mills and Wortmann, Haines all sacked, for what reason ?
-
Watching the world's best riders ? Think they are rather thin on the ground in the Elite League these days.
-
Maybe they will line-up together as No 1 & 2 ....who knows. I have no idea about all this signing lark. he cant sign for lynn until he has done 12 meets, but can sign for P'Boro with out riding one race.
-
I wouldnt imagine the Promoter at Weymouth is going to say anything different, as he is trying to get rid of the club, and his debts.
-
I am sure they have a lot of Money invested in Ipswich speedway, why would they just walk away from that ? At the very least they would look to recoup some, if not all of their outlay, by selling the thing on. http://www.lovespeedway24.co.uk/teams/ipswich-witches/louis_studying_all_the_options_1_720368 Nothing seems to settled as yet
