With James Cockle signing for Plymouth are Lynn Looking for a new Number one ?
-
I thought Coventry and Moto X had to pay 60% 0f 400k = which is 240k ( plus their own costs) leaving the other side to pay 160k, less what thet were given as a settlement. Like you say truly astonishing, but par for the course once it gets that far. Can you imagine what the bill will be if Cov and P'Boro take on the BSPA...wow
-
Saddlebow has to be coldest. Its always 5 degrees colder there than the rest of Norfolk

Most legal firms will want paying as they go along. They will be invoicing whats on the clock on a monthly basis. They dont like leaving large bills running, then running the risk of not getting the money from the client. Makes it even harder when they lose. I think the Bill is a lot more than people are suggesting. If one side had a bill of 400k, then you can be sure the other sides bill will also be around that figure. Plus dont forget there were more than 2 parties involved in all of this.

You cant blame Uncle Lennie for trying something different. The Cobra's must have been costing him money. So to re-invent The Hawks is a gamble worth taking. It has worked so well for Dudley, If Silver gets 50% of their crowd level at £12 a pop, he is going to be one happy boy. Plus if those going to watch The Hawks are people coming back into the Sport, then its a win win situation. I guess he doesnt have to worry to much about the old Cobra fans, as there wasnt enough of them to make it pay. Out with old and in with the new. What has the guy got to lose ?
-
You certainly deserve more pension living in The North.
-
If Uncle Lennie is not looking to attract old Hawks fans, why has the whole thing been re-branded under the Hackeny name ? I assumed he was trying to follow the template laid down by Dudley, and trying to tap into people who werent already regular speedway fans. The way things are at the moment I wonder how many Speedway fans have the spare cash to enjoy 2 nights of Speedway each week.
-
Maybe Uncle Lennie is trying to attract a new crowd into watching the Hawks. I read that Dudley attracted 1000 people for their home meeings, mainly old fans of Cradley.

No Bryn it was the Kings Lynn team of 2 years ago. Just reformed at Lowestoft.

Must make up a little for the dicking you got the weekend before, isnt it. -
Looks a very sad day for Mildenhall Speedway and all its great fans. Has Dave Coventry no "Plan B" in place ? Would like to hear Simon Barton's take on all this, either from the SMS point of view, or indeed from a personal prospective.
-
What about James Brundle , or is still looking for a Premier/Elite League place ?

Mildenhall - Who Decides Who The New Promoter Is?

Simon, You may well be right. It could have been 1978 when Bales joined. It was the bread van i remembered most, not the Year. -
Mildenhall - Who Decides Who The New Promoter Is?

Maybe Mr Coventry could look at the bigger picture, and say offer half rent (£650) for the first month of the season. As people have said there are some bridges to mend with the supporters, and the place needs to get back on its feet. There after again maybe Mr Coventry could look at taking a % of the gate as rent. Its called working together. It would then be in everyones interest to make the thing work. -
Mildenhall - Who Decides Who The New Promoter Is?

I remember it well. It started with Mildenhall being all cloak and dagger about a new number one joining.....At The first meeting it climaxed with Ray Bales jumping out the back of a bread van -
Could it be a straight swap ? The proposed P'Boro team ride for Lynn, and the proposed Lynn side rides for The Panthers. Look after TT for us at Alwarton. I hope Buster has left a get out clause, so that if it doesnt work out in the Elite we can slot back into the Premier League next season.

Speedway is not a cheap night out for many people Mimmo. Many maybe cant afford a twice weekly expenditure on Speedway. I was under the impression when there was No Premier League racing in a given week, the crowds for The Young Stars improved ?
-
CTR, I think you were missing the point. It has been said that some people will travel to Leicester or Rye House for their weekly, If Kings Lynn Move away from the Premier League. I was saying that Kings Lynn would be my team, no matter what League they were in. I compared with NCFC, simply because the fans didnt give up on them because they were relegated. Ok, a certain % of fans were made up of season ticket holders. However there were also many floating fans who cannot afford to commit to a season ticket, but they still never gave up on he Club, and for example went and watched their Football at Portman Road, for example. I can see your point about seeing the same teams twice a season, but havent we had that with certain Clubs every year in the Premier League, with the Trophy ?
-
My feelings exactly. People either support a Club or they dont. Look at Norwich City last season 24,000 plus still went to Carrow Road every other week, despite the fact they dropped down a League. Its called supporting your Club. I can go and watch Speedway anywhere, and I do, but there is only one Team I have a passion for and will follow, whatever League they ride in.
-
My only hope is that Kings Lynn are competitive in The Elite League. I would hate to see a repeat of our last season in the top League.
-
If, as people suspect it is Elite League for next season. One nagging doubt i have is. I cannot see Coventry and P'Boro not coming to an agreement with the BSPA and are lining up come the start of next season. If this happens what riders are going to be available for Kings Lynn to use ? The Club has very few assets to call upon for Elite League racing, so will be looking to beg steal or borrow what riders they can. Will that be enough to compete at Elite League level ? As Topinka has stated in the past he would never go back to riding in the top level, will we be saying goodbye to a legend ?
-
With the BSPA statement it looks like Elite League Speedway at Saddlebow next season.
-
Baggy, I agree details shouldnt be releashed, but there would be no harm in letting the fans know a broad outline of what is going on. Just feel like Kings Lynn are being used as a pawn in a game of Chess between the big boys of the Elite League. After all up until Monday ( as stated in Tuesdyas EDP) there as been no talk what so ever of Elite League Speedway coming to Saddlebow. Indeed as we had made 2 signings of Premier League standard, and Rob Lyons saying how he was looking forward to facing Ipswich next season. It was Premier League, and nothing else. I personaly think out of courtesy to his customers Buster could have said either, No truth or we are in discussions about the possibilty of joining the Elite league. yet all we have is a stoney silence.
