If Peterboorugh was soaking up money like a sponge, then it needed someone with very deep pockets to come in and give it a lifeline. The Rick Frosts of thsi World must be few and far between in the current climate. I guess you will never know how long a stay of excution you would have got under anyone esle coming in. Nothing wrong with our 6 fingers, web feet, your Brother who could be ya sister etc etc. We aint bad people really, and you do get to watch your Speedway and a track not that different to Alwarton. Just think you could rock up every week and cheer for the away team, after a day out at sunny Hunny. Has to be as good if not better than throwing money at Fergies Yo Yos

British Speedway Promoters Meeting
semion replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I wonder which Elite League Owner will be the first to lower the admission price to say £15, to reflect the lesser racing, and the cost savings they will be enjoying and want to pass on to exsisting fans and make it more attractive for the floating fans. Or which one will be the first one to stick the admission up a quid. -
but you havent been adverse to Frosty burning his ? maybe you will become a casual fan, just watching Speedway for the sake of Speedway, rather than following one team come what may.

C'mon Simon Throw ya cap into the ring, wont be the first time.

It doesnt matter how much wonga a person has, if he has lost interest in his hobby ( for whatever reason) then he is going tow alk away and find something new to throw his money at. Maybe at P'Boro you got an extra few years of Speedway, that maybe you wouldnt have had, if Frost and his money to brun, hadnt come along. Every Cloud has a silver lining, and at least you have decent Speedway to watch either side of you on the A47.

Successful Businessmen dont become successful by giving Money away. Maybe he looked on it as a bit of a hobby. Could it be hes just had enough and decided to walk away. When Frost took the Panthers on was there a queue of willing investors ?
-
Awful News. really sad that British Speedway will lose ( IMHO) the best racing circuit we have. I guess No one can blame Frost for walking away if he has done 500k on the Sport, there must come a time when the ligght bulb cmes on and he thinks of better things to do with his dosh.

No Sky Or League Sponsorship Money Etc...

Lets get rid of engines, make em pedal it around. No more expensive e/f, no more waste ink filling in the words e/f in the Programme. No need for big vans to run around the Country make the bikes fold up and slip then into the backseat of Fiat 500. Everyones a winner.... -
Is it a case of they value riding here, or they havent been offered bigger pay days elsewhere ? At the end of the day ( comes the night0, they are all just guns for hire, to the highest bidder. Thats your Modern day Speedway rider.

Personally i have little, to no interest in fill in, meaningless fixtures. I seem to remember Years ago, there would be The Supporters Trophy, The Littlechild Trophy, Anglian Cup, Best Pairs, The Border Trophy. All used to fill gaps in the fixture list.

Interesting that you mention Bank Loans. Where in my post did I mention it was the banks money and Not Matty's ? Or is there more to this ? I wonder why you would bring up the subject of borrowed money ? -

If a team containing a top 3 of Ward, Hancock and Majic doesnt win the thing, then there is something wrong with a The Club or the management at Poole. Still Poole do have a hellva reputation for choking when shovlar comes to push. When Poole do win the thing, It must be a hollow victory for all concerned at Wimborne Road. Maybe Matty will take the trophy to Natwest/Lloyds/HSBC ( fill in the blanks) and show them what his money bought. -

Well just turn up and peep through the window or get a glass against the wall Another little idea i had was...Instead of 4 start line girls, hows about 2 females and 2 males... As Speedway has a big female following, a bit of eye candy for the girls wouldnt go amiss would it ? Just picture the scene. Mungo and Baggy in there mankini's at the start line. As a little side issue, is Baggy sending out his 40th party invites yet ? I think its February, isnt it Baggy ?

Changes are needed, but is there anyone amongst the Promoters who really have a clear view to the way forward. With the top riders riding in xyz number of Countries ( plus travelling) they only have a limited number of dates to give to British Speedway. Those dates wont be enough to fill a full programme for each Club ( home & away). So that suggests to me that the big hitters wont be back in the UK next season. So that will leave a very watered down Elite League. If that is the case how much difference will there be between the Elite and Prem leagues ? marginal to my mind. Having said all of that if a watered down league, with more fixtures brings down the admission cost of Speedway, then that has to be a good thing. As the Sport, at £16/17 is over priced, for just 15 heats ( 15 mins) of live action. Maybe we could get 6 man teams over 20 heats and set a lower admission fee. That way the there should be no shortage of riders, fans get better value for money, with more meetings riders wages dont slip.

Dont be swayed by that Bluejam, he has an 'I love Neil & Matt' T-shirt. Just for balance.
-
I like the sound of Kerr and Lambert, but have a real concern about Kerr around Saddlebow. Looking at his scoring in the Prem League he looks a real find, but his scores at Lynn IN the National dont really reflect that. Would like to have Cook or Doyle in our mix for next season.

When it says its up for sale, what would any prospective purchaser actually be buying ? I mean does it show a profit ?

Will the Hogmiester general be tabling an offer ?

Sticking his head into the face of a 15 year old boy. What a brave individual he is. I would think his parents must be so proud of their little soldier.
