Poole Pirates Vs Kings Lynn Stars 23/7/2014
semion replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Finals are normally held I at venues befitting to finals not run down stadiums. Go to The most basic of Horse racing meets, I do Towcester from time to time go the Open and what do you get compared to Speedway stadiums ? Go to watch Tennis and you get a days worth of action the same with golf, Cricket etc. Horse racing you get to watch the Horses in the parade ring and think if only -

I thought the League winners have are given the Golden egg of representing England in a Europe. Bit like Its a Knockout. Speedway/ Its a Knockout.... Pop a little mini Marthon in the Middle, get an Eddie Waring lookie Likie. Shant mention the other guy. -

The Promotions more or less beg for your support all season, and moan when the fans dont rock up. So what happens when your team gets to the play-offs. They come up with a great PR exercise and think to themselves these mug punters will turn up now no matter what, lets stick it to them, sod the fact that some of them have turned up week in come rain or shine, we will overcharge em. As if 17 quid aint enough for 15 mins Speedway. -

Lets not pretend that the play-offs have anything to do with Sport, Woz. Thats the last thing the play-offs are about. -

The play-offs are for 2 Clubs who each get a decent crowd out of it, and 2 Clubs who each get 2 decent meetings out of it. Maybe even the difference between a profit or a loss on the season overall. The other reason is of course for Sky who get to screen 6 meetings out of it. What I really never understand is why Clubs feel as reward to all their loyal fans support throughout the season they see fit to rip them off by inflating the admission fee. After all they already are on a big pay day with the cameras there, big crowd in, programme sales, sponsorship etc. Not content with all of that they want to stuff it to the fans as well. -

I think the play-offs should only be used in seasons where Poole finish top. Any Other season the Champions should be those topping the table the table at the end of the season. Anyone remember the TV Prog The Office, and the Throwing the Shoe over the Building was the real tie breaker in the quiz ? -
I think for Rob Lyon's Comments Lynn should be thrown out of the League and the records expunged. How dare he have an opinion on a Speedway matter !! That is only the god given right of X Number of us on here. Blody Team managers and Promoters thinking they know it all, how can they compare with us keyboard warriors like us who have all the answers.

If both teams are at full strength and the track is up to scratch then it has all the makings of being a great meeting. Heat leaders on par, Lynn having the better of the Reserves with Poole gaining in the 2nd string department. Win, Lose or draw, lets hope its a good un for the fans. -
In fairness GRW we win as a team or in this case we drop 1 point as a team. As you well know you get the odd strange result in Speedway, it's not a fine science, thankfully. Lambo beating Robert was a surprise, but hey it happens. Last night the team were not quite on it, yet we still won the meeting. Sign of a decent team that says to me

Maybe as Rory is the stand in Guest here there and everywhere the BSPA dont want him tied up with a Premier league side
-
Thats what I said... It cant be the combined average of the 2 riders. Its either individual or the whole team.
-
I didnt think you could make a change by joining 2 riders averages together and then replacing them with 2 other riders with a lower combined average. I thought it had to be on either a 1 for 1 basis, or on the overall average of the whole team. I am sure Neil will tell me if I have that one wrong.
-
With young Robert I think his progress will come in huge big chunks. He already has his first max for the Club. He will level off, then go again. Next season I think you will see just how far he has come on. If the boy gates he is almost untouchble. Trouble is he doesnt make the gate enough times, Yet. It will come.

Why would Stoke be "rocked" by the news. There was always the chance that a rider of Wilsons ability would find a home back in the Premier League. Maybe Stoke tthought he would be an undercover success and no one would notice. Wilson is far too good a rider to be riding in what should really be a development League. Can Stoke not Just put Mcbain in the main body of the team and keep Kirby in at reserve ?

If Speedway stretches riders too far then it is certain something has to give. Tai's Business is as a speedway rider, so he will look after the peiople that look after him. IF his big earnings come from GP's Poland and Sweden then thats where the efforts are going to go. GPs are at most once a fortnight, Poland is once a week, the same with Sweden. The Elite League is different. So if the boy is going to give any League a swerve, then there are no prizes for guessing what it will be. -

Sidney let me just say, for me he was the best thing to ever throw a leg over a Speedway machine. Just feel I missed out on so much more. Greedy -

Michael Lee didn't need anyone's permission to miss meetings. He just didn't bother showing up -
