Sheffield V Newcastle Pl Thursday 6th Sep 2012

Worth remembering that the Diamonds were thrashed 58-32 here in the KO Cup when we had both Worrall's. Ok Sheffield have lost Haines & Sanchez since then but it would still take a masive improvement for the Diamonds to even go close to nicking a point. Can't see it personally. 54-38. -

If it goes ahead will miss this one as I'm flying back from southern Portugal. 34 degrees over here and not a cloud in the sky. Can't wait to get back to misserable Tyneside....not. -
Newcastle V Edinburgh Pl Match Sunday 19th August 2012
NJC71 replied to dantodan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It might have started raining heavily at 6.15 but it was raining steadily long before that. I live less than a mile from Brough and it rained all afternoon save for about an hour. Ok most of that was light rain but having watched many a match when it drizzles with rain it doesn't take much for the track to become unraceable. Understand the need to try and get it on given the backlog of fixtures, cut offs for play-offs etc but consideration for people travelling has to be a factor even against regional opponents and that meeting was never going to start in those conditions. -

Newcastle V Edinburgh Pl Match Sunday 19th August 2012

Not a lot of options for guests as we couldn't use Wilko, obviously Deek or Aspegren. Would like to have seen Kyle but seems he's guesting elsewhere. No way Haines will get anything like the points Aspegren got last week so we really need Henry and Ned fit and scoring otherwise we could be in a spot of bother here. Edinburgh will presumably be allowed a guest for Cook and Tabaka might not be such a huge loss on this track. Good be very tight this one. -
Newcastle V Edinburgh Pl Match Sunday 19th August 2012

Surprised we didn't go for Dyer to replave Steve, unless we did and he chose Berwick. Or perhaps we couldn't gurantee him a place for the rest of the season. Not sure if Steve is out for the season or nor. Kyle is the obvious choice for this weekend, assuming he's available. -
I'm afraid you've completely lost the plot my friend!! The Diamonds are at Edinburgh on Friday, Workington on Saturday and at HOME to Scunny on Sunday!

It's just my opinon! Well you obviously know more than me but on paper their team looks weak compared to Gorzow. Let's see what the league table looks like at the end of the season. I wouldn't mind betting Gorzow will be top and Czestochowa bottom with some distance between the two. Regardless of the Tacticals it was the same riders too often. Pedersen and Zagar were out in successive heats at one point. The top 5 all seem to get 5 or 6 rides and the reserves hardly appeared. I just much prefer the EL / PL format.

First time I've watched the Polish league. First match was poor with hardly a pass and the second one started superbly (fantastic crowd and atmosphere) but then fizzed out mainly due to a very poor away team, with Hancock in particular very poor. People give British speedway a lot of criticism and keep saying it's poor compared to Poland but although it's great to see such a big crowd I didn't think the racing was anything special, in fact poor in the first match. One thing I absolutely do not like is the heat format. Someone will have to explain it to me but it almost appeared like 4 man teams at one point with the same pairings out over and over again. Speedway meetings should build to a climax with everyone looking forward to the big clashes, like in heats 13 & 15 in England but the top riders seemed to ride against each other 4 or 5 times in Poland. Not a fan of that at all. The reserves hardly got a ride. The Gorzow team is also unbelievably strong with Pedersen, Gollob, Zagar, Iversen and Mrockza. Compare that to Tarnow earlier who had Lindgren, Ulamek and Kasprzak and nothing else. The Czestochowa team looks absolutely woeful in comparison even to Tarnow. Some serious mismatches for me.

Great performance from Richie Worrall tonight

Don't think there'll be lots of points free. Stuart Robson will be on a proper 8-9 point average by then, Lemo is showing no signs of dropping his and Deek looks like being a good point higher as well.
-
All this about gaters v racers is a bit misleading in my opinion. Kenni certainly won most of his races from the gate but he is hard rider and very aggresive on the first two corners. Lemo likewise. That's the key for me. I've seen riders who don't win unless they gate well clear of the other riders. If they don't they will shut off. Lemo and Kenni certainly don't come into that category. Hopefully Ferjan has the aggression as if he doesn't he won't be a 9 point man in the PL.

Newcastle Diamonds V Glasgow Tigers
NJC71 replied to Tsunami's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Big Lee was off the pace tonight I'm afraid. He was holding his arm after his third ride, don't know why as he didn't fall, perhaps he's carrying an injury. He made one decent start but McKinna passed him fairly easily. I'd be more worried about McGowan who is clearly not fit. Josh took a heavy first bend fall (similar to the one at Coventry tonight) and although he soldiered on he was clearly not right. No disrespect but Jake Anderson is not yet PL standard. It's a sad state of affairs when you see NL standard Australians riding in the PL. -
Newcastle Diamonds V Glasgow Tigers

Not a great meeting which was only really kept interesting by Wolbert and his clashes with Larsen and Lemon. The Diamonds all did their job well. Deek is flying at the moment but it was nice to see Adam looking faster and scoring some decent points, albeit against modest opposition. Worrying to see Jason King strapped up and hobling arround on crutches. That looks like a potential season ender in which case it will be interesting to see if the Promotion stick with rider replacement or try and make a new signing. Have to feel for Glasgow. Wolbert was a fine replacement for Screen, but with McGowan and Graczjonek not fit and Dicken struggling they were never in a position to make a match of it. -

With the flying Wolbert in for Joe, I wouldn't be surprised if Glasgow made more of a match of it here than they did yeseterday. McGowan rides Brough well and Big Lee and JB can score here as well. The Diamonds will be looking for Dak to continue where he left off yesterday, particularly if we are using r/r. Hope the track is good and they don't destroy it during the interval like last week. -
Swc Event 2, King's Lynn, 26/7

Pitty they aren't holding the final at King's Lynn. Awesome track, awesome racing and an aewsome result. Harris and Nicholls were magnificent and showed what they can do when they make reasonable starts. Heat 17 (Woffy, Lindgren, Ward) was one of the best races I've seen in a long time. I was jumping around like a maniac! Great stuff!! -
Has Sky Had Enough Of The Gp
NJC71 replied to nibs's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Agree. I used to love the GP's but they are just so predictable and the racing is dross. The format dosesn't help, the GP's have gone down hill since they dispensed with the eliminators. -
Nicholls V Sayfutdinov
NJC71 replied to Cornishman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Here, Here. Holloway is a big girls blouse. Pushing someone and then legging it, giving verbals from a safe distance. What a coward. That on top of all the nonsense about "Danes" having it in for Sayfutdinov, its time someone brought Holloway down a peg or two. Way too big for his boots me thinks. -
