  1. Can't remember the 8 day rule but perhaps it only applies to the home team. Either way Kyle is a an odd choice really on the basis of his two meetings at Plymouth this season (2+1 & 3+1). Tyson Nelson & Jason Garrity (10+2 & 8+2) when Rye won there look better options if available.
  2. Was intending to go down to Redcar tonight but back from work too late and glad I didn't given the delayed start. Doesn't do Redcar any favours in terms of attracting fans back and no obvious excuse for it but its happened at Brough before so not for me to have a go or lay the blame. Just a shame for the fans. Sounds like the track ended up decent anyway. Good effort from the 5 Diamonds. Hope Richie is ok, doesn't sound like it was too bad thankfully. We are vulnerable using r/r and can't afford any further injuries. Redcar should really have picked up all 3 points but another home win at least and a much better performance than opening night. In terms of the crowd reaction to Richie's fall..well I'm afraid we have plenty of idiots at Brough so we can't really complain.
  3. Happy to be corrected but is there any need for the insulting tone. Jees...
  4. I thought he looked back far too late. When a rider is on a tactical you would think there would be more awareness. The only time Howarth looked back was coming off the final bend and Harrison would have needed to be pretty close to pass him by then. Harrison was in third for all but the first bend so for me they just messed it up but to be fair it's a big ask when it now costs a rider money.
  5. Interesting rather than exciting meeting with not a lot of passing but plenty of incident. The Diamonds were typically sharp out of the start in the early heats and despite engine trouble for Robbo and an unfortunate fall for Lewis (snapped chain?) when well in front in heat 2, looked in complete control. Indeed with none of the top 4 having dropped a genuine point in the first 8 heats a real drubbing looked on the cards. But the meeting changed in heat 9 when, with Rene on the second tactical, Henry fell on the first bend with the Diamonds having gated on a 5-1. As always seems to happen in these situations, Rene flew out of the gate to win the re-run turning a probable 5-1 into a 2-7 giving the visitors a chance of a point. All of a sudden Howarth and Lawson, who had both been ordinary up until then, suddenly found some speed and things became a little uncomfortable for the Diamonds. The luck though levelled out a little in the deciding heat 15 when Rene went through the tapes and that was that with Richie and Ludvig riding a superb first bend in the re-run to leave Lawson trailing. Overall I think it was a fair outcome as losing a point would have been very harsh on the Diamonds. Despite those falls and engine problems the Diamonds again looked impressive. Henry was the pick of the bunch only being denied a 6 ride full house by that heat 9 fall. Ludvig and Richie were outstanding again. Easy to forget that this is only Richie’s third year in the sport with a broken leg thrown in. His progress over the last 12 months has really been extraordinary. Lewis was unlucky tonight and whilst not as quick as last week was far better than his 3 point return suggests. We just need to get Steve going as he looks a little down on speed and confidence at the moment. Had Workington started the match like they finished it this would have been close but it took them too long to get going. One last point was the mess Howarth and Harrison made of the first tactical in heat 7. Did Kyle not realise Harrison was on a tactical or is this the result of the new bonus payment regulations. Either way it could easily have cost Workington a point.
  6. Awesome. Looking forward to watching the Diamonds live on sky in an away match. Can't remember us being on away from home before other than the 4's. Should be a good contest if both teams are at full strength.
  7. Cracking meeting tonight with lots of good races on another good track. What a performance from Lewis Kerr on top of two great displays at Scunthorpe & Workington he's had quite a weekend. Amazing how quickly he's taken to Brough, to score a paid max in his third meeting around such a technical track is amazing. Hopefully the scores he’s getting at the moment will show PL promoters that it is worth giving NL riders a chance instead of always bringing in sometimes second rate foreigners. Despite the score I thought Scunthorpe played a full part in an excellent night’s racing. I always enjoy watching Josh Auty and although this wouldn’t rate as his favourite track he was good value as was Jorgensen with both riding better than their points would suggest. Palm Toft though had an off night on a track he normally rides well and Birks found the going tough. Tough though for the opposition to ride here against this side with either Robson, Lindgren, Henry or Richie in every heat who are all top riders around here. If Lewis can ride anything like he did tonight on a consistent basis and we can get Steve back on form we’ll take some stopping with Tully still to come back. Hopefully injuries won’t spoil it this year. Cracking night and a much needed tonic after the horror show earlier.
  8. Don't think we need to win at Redcar. A point will do as long as we take maximum points at home.
  9. Don't suppose it matters though after the heat 15 5-1, as we'd still have lost by a point.
  10. Pleased to see Redcar get a win. They needed a boost. Berwick will be fine.
  11. Another good fight back for an important point. Leaves us in a good position to qualify if we can get something at Redcar and take maximum points at home. Did George miss a trick though not using a tactical when he had the chance....
  12. I think much will depend on David Howe. He can be virtually unbeatable around Brough but he's only just come back from injury so much will depend on his form over the two legs. Fancy Scunthorpe to win by 8-10 points tonight but the Diamonds by at least a dozen at home where Auty and Birks don't go so well, but Howe could change all that if he shows his normal Brough form. Interesting to see if Ludvig can keep his form going on a bigger track against the likes of Auty, Howe and Jorgensen.
  13. Come on all, time to put this one firmly to bed. Pointless continuously dragging up the past. Would help if folk put an end to these "Rough Park" comments as it just winds me and other Diamonds fans up and isn't true anymore anyway. That said it is a real shame if away fans don't travel to Brough anymore because of the behaviour of a few idiots. There is definitely a lack of needle to these fixtures now although that's partly down to having too many matches against each other and possibly also because Redcar haven't had a particularly strong team in recent seasons and thus the matches have been fairly one sided. Personally I would like to see a stronger Redcar team and friendly banter between the fans. Nothing wrong with that.
  14. Not a great meeting with very little passing, but a job well done for the Diamonds. No idea why still some refer to Brough as "Rough" park as it is as smooth as a billiard table these days. One faller tonight and non last week. If anything it is a little too smooth and slick for me. The racing was better when it was a little rough. Good to see Robbo looking quick again after a poor first ride. He looks much more like his old self so far this season. Ludvig was flying again and Richie looks like he's never been away. Was also quite encouraged by Lewis Kerr who picked up some good points with some decent starts and solid rides. He will only get better. Redcar were disappointing with only Ostergaard who was excellent and deserved more than 5 second places and Dyer riding well. Skidmore was awful on a track he doesn't ride well and Summers tailed off badly after a good opening ride. No idea why they persevere with Kus who isn't worth the expense imo.
  15. Not exactly the start Redcar would have wanted. Early days of course but you don't want to be taken apart in your first home meeting. On paper it's a solid side, but has too many inconsistent scorers for me. Hope they improve though with meetings under their belts. The Diamonds could hardly have started better. Very surprised how well the Worrall's have done so far; they have both just continued from where they left last year which is amazing considering the severity of their injuries. Robson also looks a different rider so far. The early form of Lindgren though is perhaps the most encouraging. Early days yet but if Robson and Lindgren can continue in this vain we will have some top 4 once Tully is back. Personally I would have gone with Nedermark over Henry as he is still improving and I would have backed him to comfortably out score Henry on the road but hey, ho. Great start.
  16. What an idiot. I seem to remember losing half of our team to injury at your track last year. It is reported that he had a problem with his second bike which caused the fall but don't let facts get in the way.
  17. Bad start. Would Ned accept a temporary place having been left out of the original side? Perhaps not. Never easy to sign a rider on a short-term basis. Could be difficult but I guess much depends on how long Andrew is out for.
  18. Very encouraging to see Richie score so well on top of his comeback meetings in NZ. I did worry that he might find it tough coming back after such a bad injury but the early signs are very reassuring. Richie and Steve are the key riders for us. We lack an obvious number 1 but if Richie can steer clear of injuries he could be a 9+ rider this year, as he was last year before injury albeit from reserve. Likewise Steve will be the senior reserve this year and we'll need him to be providing solid support for the top 5. If they can both do that we'll be a major contender (injuries aside of course) as the rest of the top 5 looks very solid, with Robson, Lindgren, Tully & Henry all capable of double figure scores, although I still think we'll miss Ned in the away matches.
  19. Decent shout but I agree there is not particularly one standout side so far. Somerset perhaps look the strongest to me, but Ipswich are another that could be strong, particularly now they have a genuine number 1. Edinburgh are shapping up well depending on the last two signings and Workington, Newcastle, Leicester, Redcar, and Berwick all look solid. I really like the look of Scunthorpe's top 5 and if they can get points at reserve they could be a real threat. I'm not sure about Rye House, they are perhaps a rider short but the only teams that don't look to strong to me are Glasgow & Sheffield (assuming Sheffield's final 7 is the rumoured side). Glasgow though could yet be decent if they get the last two signings right. At the moment though I would go for a top 4 of Somerset, Scunthorpe, Ipswich & Newcastle, but I don't say that with a lot of confidence.
  20. Think you'll find he was our most consistent scorer away from home last year. If anything his best meetings were on the road, victories over Doyle at Somerset and from the back against Lanham at Ipswich just two examples.
  21. Can't understand why nobody has picked Nedermark up yet unless it's do with cost. On just over 6 he is a snip. He was our best rider over the second half of last season, is an absolutely superb gater and scores well virtually everywhere. If he retains his form from last year he's basically a third heat leader on a false average. Personally I was very surprised he wasn't retained by the Diamonds.
  22. Runas Ravn!! Think u mean Jonas Raun. Doubt they will be able to get his average down to less than 4.1. Think your JK theory is more plausible.
  23. I like the look of this side. Aspegren impressed me last season and could develop into a heat leader as could Smith once he gets his fitness back. Solid middle order and potentially a very strong reserve pairing. Could be a real dark horse next year the Bandits if they get some luck with injuries.
  24. I'm not sure at all about the inclusion of Tully. Certainly a capable rider and on his night he can beat anybody. But over a season will he outscore Lemo (even the 2012 version) and does he have more potential for improvement than Ned? I'm not convinced but time will tell. I have been proven wrong many times before. Happy to see all of the others back, particularly the Worrall's. The success of this team could well depend on how well both come back from injury, particularly Richie. If he rides and scores like he did up until injury last year we'll be very strong again, but that is a big ask and this looks a team that has been built on the assumption that he'll soon be back to form rather than one that can cover for him if he struggles for a while. All in all it looks like a team that (injury aside) will do very well at home but it could be a different story on the road and that's where I think the absence of Ned will be felt. I would back Tully to probably outscore Ned at Brough but on the road Ned was very good last year, particularly in the second half of the season when he was probably our best rider with several double figure returns due in the main to his superb gating. Tully (and also Lindrgen for that matter) will really need to up their games away from home if the Diamonds are to be successful. As for the last place, well Jason King is the most obvious choice but he needs to be 100% fit. We'll already have Steve coming back from injury at reserve (as well as Richie) and we simply can't afford another.
