Have checked in a 1997 prog. Supp. reserves are clearly marked. It was a one off season with six man teams that had only one reserve, so an SR was designated for those occasions when the reserve needed replacing.

There are two separate publications being discussed here. One a book by Peter Morrish, and the second by Alan Robertson. Both have league tables and results. The former just lists point scorers by team, but also has some narrative. The latter has full stats for each season.

Or foresight in the case of most reasonably literate speedway tacticians. It was certainly obvious to me at the time watching the match from the back straight.

An outstanding meeting, great racing, a dramatic finish, a well prepared track, a good atmosphere. My third visit to Redcar this season and they've all been top quality, but today was really exceptional.

Don't you be so sure.

Quibell Park and Paris (Ontario) for me

Last used in 1997 I think

Jackson and Vass use CMA in their rider biographies for pre 1965 performances. The major challenge they had was confirming all the fourth places as these weren't published at the time and hence getting the correct number of rides proved tricky.

You've overlooked Eddie Castro (aged 61) who is still a regular (including Ventura last Saturday). Rune Holta (48 tomorrow) is probably the oldest who is racing at a serious professional level
-
Although I notice he's supposed to be riding in France tomorrow (against Adam Ellis!)

The two at Peterborough were both when placed though. -
Doubt it, can't see why Newcastle, Berwick or Plymouth would break the bank for the last few meetings with little at stake and any other team would have to ditch a top rider like Cook, Masters, Andersen or Nicholls to fit him in. I would expect some of the other riders notably Brennan and Kemp to be more in demand.
-
Now that we've reached the endgame it would be helpful to understand what went wrong. Looking from the outside, at the start of the season, if asked to rank tracks most at risk of closure I think Eastbourne would have been quite low in my list (and most people's standings too)

Unlikely, as a) it is impractical b) goes against the 2018 precedent when Rye House withdrew.

Almost all of those will be in corporate wrappers, and liability will be almost entirely down to the extent to which the various company bankers require personal guarantees of the directors/owners.

The current group of 17-19 year old is the strongest we have had for a long time, and there is a reasonable chance that one of them will make it to the GPS, but any more than that is being over optimistic. For all the promise that a rider shows at an early age there is a long way to go to make it to the top. The best two UK reared 15 year old prodigies in the 27 seasons of the NL remain David Howe and Lewis Bridger.

Who knows, but the impression I got is that he's not optimistic about finding a buyer and if that happens he'll continue to own but get someone else in to run it. -
Good for Berwick, at least they are trying to fill the hole created by Eastbourne's implosion. OK it won't satisfy everyone, but nobody is being forced to go.

Do Poole not have a team manager?

I thought putting up a Facebook posting saying BUY TICKETS HERE at 7.30a.m. this morning particularly inept given a track inspection was planned for 8.00a.m. and the match was predictably off by 8.30a.m.
