  1. That was the most sensible piece of TV direction all night. Done because someone prepared ALL the captions from left to right instead of right to left.
  2. A rare outing for the old 24 rider knockout format as previously used in the GPs. And featuring well known German Fraser Bowes.
  3. Same here I had Oxford, Bristol (running when I applied), Poole (Southampton uni), Coventry (Warwick uni) and Exeter on my UCCA form.
  4. Most of the handful of ex-Racers supporters that regularly went to Blunsdon would probably find it easier to support Oxford, whereas most of us went to Swindon to support the visitors.
  5. I assume there will be no Ed Kennett following his absence last night [10.5 (h)]
  6. In the UK: California, Norwich, Southampton, Ellesmere Port and Castleford Abroad: San Bernadino (original track), Vladivostock, Sydney Showground, Vastervik, Torun
  7. Leicester Lions onezies appeared last night!
  8. Ian Jordan on Facebook a few minutes ago: "A statement will be made regarding some issues identified ... in the next day or so"
  9. You what? You must have been on pretty strong medication that night!
  10. Discussed recently in the context of Harris and Nicholls at Peterborough. Jorgensen is listed above Aarnio, so either: 1) going to 3rd/4th decimal place Jorgensen is above Aarnio, or 2) their averages are identical, in which case the previous month's GSAs apply and Jorgensen is ranked ahead of Aarnio because of their July averages (6.91 v 6.85). Either way, the conclusion is that Ellis doesn't get an R/R ride.
  11. And next up heat 10 sponsored by Bobbins dry cleaners
  12. Any tweak to these rules would have a minor impact in practice, but would add a few more paragraphs to the rulebook, but create further opportunities for confusion. The key is to consider how the rules are structured to ensure an exit strategy which allows riders continued progression. This was the major failing of past schemes and is a notable absentee from the current regulations.
  13. Pontus is currently averaging over 9 in the Elitserien (compared with 6.6 for Berntzon), higher than Freddie Lindgren, Lambert, Janowski, Fricke
  14. But it does substantially reduce their options. For example Benjamin Basso and other rising Danish stars would appear to be ruled out.
  15. In one respect it should be easier this season as rearranging fixtures will be less problematic because fewer riders have commitments in other leagues, which normally make it so difficult to find new dates. For example only three riders appear regularly in GB and the Elitserien (Becker, Ellis and Kurtz) Only Adam Ellis rides in the Championship and Elitserien Bar a single appearance by Leon Flint no rider active in GB has ridden in the Alsvenskan this season
  16. I thought you were being a tad melodramatic, until I read it. It basically translates as "man who disagreed with me died" Do I detect the hand of the notoriously thin-skinned Mr Godfrey?
  17. Fajfer is currently 10th in Elitserien averages, above Janowski and Fricke.
  18. Plenty of us at the match were discussing this during the interval. The other option would have been Woodhull in ht 13 leaving Coles for heat 14
  19. The track was pretty shocking, the last 8 heats were largely won by the riders who missed the holes.
  20. You have my commiserations, I travel a lot, and trying to minimise the risk of being left high and dry by late fixture changes is wearing.
  21. There are some excellent talents in today's bottom 8. Just because they didn't perform on a slick and bumpy track doesn't mean they aren't very promising riders for the future.
  22. Very level-headed performance from Andersen. Basically missed the gate 4 times out of 5, but picked off his opponents with little difficulty.
