  1. Unlikely, as a) it is impractical b) goes against the 2018 precedent when Rye House withdrew.
  2. Almost all of those will be in corporate wrappers, and liability will be almost entirely down to the extent to which the various company bankers require personal guarantees of the directors/owners.
  3. The current group of 17-19 year old is the strongest we have had for a long time, and there is a reasonable chance that one of them will make it to the GPS, but any more than that is being over optimistic. For all the promise that a rider shows at an early age there is a long way to go to make it to the top. The best two UK reared 15 year old prodigies in the 27 seasons of the NL remain David Howe and Lewis Bridger.
  4. So will I. My Northern tour itinery now reads: Fri: Edinburgh v Poole (was Glasgow v Berwick) Sat morning: Trip to Falkirk wheel (was Armadale v Ebne) Sat evng: Berwick challenge (was v Ebne x2) Sun: Redcar v Berwick (was Newc v Ebne)
  5. Who knows, but the impression I got is that he's not optimistic about finding a buyer and if that happens he'll continue to own but get someone else in to run it.
  6. Good for Berwick, at least they are trying to fill the hole created by Eastbourne's implosion. OK it won't satisfy everyone, but nobody is being forced to go.
  7. Both Goret and Keleher out scored Mulford. Longtrack is a very different beast to "regular" speedway. (Stan Burza (43) qualified for the longtrack GP!)
  8. The track was shocking. Yes it rained, but the question is why it took so little rain to make it completely unrideable.
  9. People seem to forget that riders peak much later these days, often we'll past 30. I'd certainly put Lambert's career progress to date on a par with Freddie Lindgren who seems to have had a pretty good run in the GPs.
  10. Because there are sources that one would reasonably (but wrongly) assume to be reliable that are suggesting otherwise.
  11. I thought putting up a Facebook posting saying BUY TICKETS HERE at 7.30a.m. this morning particularly inept given a track inspection was planned for 8.00a.m. and the match was predictably off by 8.30a.m.
  12. My favourite was when the refs box became a trestle table on some planks halfway up the scaffolding!

  14. Best of luck to him. At this stage in his career I don't think it will be a disaster if he doesn't qualify, but I hope he'll be having a serious shot at the SEC next season.
  15. Each speedway promotion is a separate business entity. The BSPL Ltd is merely a corporate wrapper placed around to BSPA to make if sound grander than it is (and give its members some protection in the form of limited liability should the organisation be sued). The BSPA/BSPL has no assets to speak of * * except perhaps some GTR's in somebody's garage.
  16. It is somewhat emblematic of speedway's state that its most prominent owner announces his decision to sell, not after poring over a business plan, but in an emotional outburst worthy of a six year old.
  17. Speedwaynews is wrong and you are correct. If you add up the rides taken you will see that Fjelsted are one short (27 instead of 28). Basso rode in heat 14 finishing last. See https://rs.dmusport.dk/loeb/5436 Still a good performance.
  18. That would mean Newcastle cancelling their home match with Edinburgh to go down to the South Coast. Think you've got the wrong end of the stick.
  19. His obsession with private equity as a solution seems rather odd, given their modus operandi is generally to buy up businesses and strip out costs (and assets, transferring them to the ownership of related companies). The end result is generally very good for property developers and not so good for the businesses. The care home sector has been particularly crippled by these vultures.
  20. Plus 5% for home guests making 7.44. That means King, Ellis, Schlein and Batchelor can guest at Alwalton but not away.
  21. Very little weight will be given to objections with no connection from the area, unless it is a matter of factual expertise or you can introduce a local connection (e.g. visiting Hoddesdon and spending money in local economy), and I think most councillors would be sceptical of the latter if they were aware of how speedway operated. You are right about councillors attitude to retrospective applications, but most still get passed.
  22. A league table with quarter points. Very odd. Even odder the DMU site shows a different table. Having popped the DMU regs through auto translate I think you have the correct standings and not the DMU! (The DMU have scored the cup semi finals and final (!!) as 3-2-1-0 match points)
