  1. So who would you have chosen as guests then? Thompson and Blair not good enough for you?
  2. Michael Fish's forecast was provided by the Met Office. It is only recently the BBC decided to start doing it on the cheap and go elsewhere.
  3. Why should his estate benefit? I'll happily give money to a benefit for a permanently injured rider, or one who passed away while riding. But Grahame's passing was 20 years after being active in speedway and at an age when I assume* he had no dependents. * If he had surviving children who were still minors that would change the situation entirely and I would be happy to see money raised go to them.
  4. Ellis was and still is 2021 British Champion. As regards the rules for the 2022 British championship there were only two options within the rules: 1] declare a result using countback regulations, or 2] abandon without a result with the intention to rerun at a later date It appears nobody was happy with option A which would have meant drawing of lots. The choice of Cardiff wildcard is a separate matter and the SCB made a pragmatic and reasonable decision in picking Ellis. PS No lots were involved in 1977 European Junior Championship. Scores after 12 heats: Busk 9, Owen 8, Collins 7. 2005 on the other hand....
  5. One of the few failings of the Oxford relaunch is the complete lack of merchandise. Four months in and not so much as a bleedin' biro available to those who wish to show their support for the club.
  6. Last night a new British Champion was crowned - I say give him the wildcard. Step forward Jason Edwards, 2022 NORA British Champion on the Isle of Wight last night.
  7. If you use all 2022 Prem level meetings (exc bonus pts) Ellis is second to Harris. (Followed by St Worrall, Ch Wright and King)
  8. Should relocate the meeting to Vojens, they have expertise in staging prestige meetings in front of small crowds at short notice.
  9. Surely the ACU representative (Tony Steele), consulted with the FIM member who just happened to be there (Tony Steele) and after much argument and disagreement a consensus was reached?
  10. The decision was a perfectly pragmatic one , and better than many made by sporting bodies (consider F1 earlier this year and football's assorted arbitrary points deductions under financial fair play rules) What WAS shocking was the length of time it took to reach and communicate the decision. (One I came up with before the meeting even started).
  11. Possibly the best ever thread on this forum was the one about who would have been world champion in each of the seasons pre 1994 had they used a GP format. And 1983 was the one year that caused us most trouble with no real consensus and few strongly held views in favour of anyone.
  12. Last Oxford Chargers meeting: 1 FX (Foord) and two falls that did not result in races being stopped (Simpson and Spencer) Yesterday at Mildenhall 5 exclusions due to falls: Halder (twice), Roynon, King, Watts. Five does not equal one!
  13. Poole could lose both matches to Oxford and still qualify (e.g. 42-48 at home, and away, plus a win v Plymouth of at least 48-42). I'd rather like Scunny or Edinburgh to qualify as it gets a bit boring with the same three clubs dominating. PS I am assuming ties are decided on race points. I haven't seen any supplementary regs for Summer Trophy. Sorry Jubilee Hoo-ha
  14. It's Østergaard. This is set out in the rules: the higher ranking in team order goes to rider with higher average in previous month's GSAs
  15. Although Summers would struggle to guest at Armadale and Poole in the same evening.
  16. You are spot on. http://www.gbspeedway.com/2017/meeting.php?mc1=x&mc2=f&mc3=x&mc4=Sheffield Tigers&comp=CPb&meeting=1509 The previous attempt to stage it on 18 Sept was rained-off, for that Redcar named 6 guests and r/r
  17. Best team I can construct from riders available would be: 1 Wells 2 r/r for Morris 3 Summers or Starke 4 Dan Thompson 5 Sedgmen 6 Heeps 7 Morley
  18. The best race of the night was France turning a 3-6 into a 7-2, so not sure why you single them out. Everybody found it hard to pass.
  19. Agreed on both points, but think this is a good alternative http://www.gbspeedway.com/2022/search.php?mc1=s&mc2=x&mc3=x&mc4=x Particularly the ability to search
  20. A fair question. I imagine Kyle Newman would welcome such opportunities. Last season left teamless when Eastbourne folded, and this dumped by Oxford. Think you would want to restrict it to riders with fairly recently established GSAs to prevent manipulation.
  21. Those are the averages for determining team order - the equivalent of our green sheets, so a fair representation. While we've used different data sets I think we agree on the central point. https://www.svemo.se/Sporter/Resultat/Speedway/Serier/BAUHAUSLigan2022/Snittlista/ PS The stats on the svemo site are great, but why is it such a pain to navigate?
