We"ve been promised details of a team change for tomorrow. So that suggests the Brum press release may well turn out to be accurate re Jack Thomas. -
Birmingham vs Oxford 20/7/22 (CJL)
arnieg replied to Fozzie4388's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Are you sure? That implies: 1) Jack Thomas is fit 2) Oxford have redeclared as he is not currently in their named seven -
I find it wise to build in an extra hour for my journey so often arrive 90 minutes before the start. At some tracks limited parking can also give an 8ncentive to arrive early.

Leicester vs Edinburgh 16/07/22 CL

That is a report of a CHANGE in the rule LAST week. Gmuncie is talking about something that happened before the 'reinterpretation' of the rule -
Presumably it will essentially be the same riders that took part in Liberec. Are any Australians or Americans likely to make it over?

I think the issue was the South African sport boycott as Stefani was based in South Africa in the early 90s. (Same applies to David Steen's reputed birth in Maidstone)

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2022
arnieg replied to IronScorpion's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Apart from one TBA (Plym. V Gla) the Championship will be over by the end of August Seems unlikely. Apart from the above mentioned TBA Plymouth have their last home fixture on 23rd August (and they fit in a complete set of NDL fixtures too). Plymouth will have little difficulty in fitting in the play-offs. Birmingham, with no such concerns have only two meetings after the end of this month (one league match and the Brit under 21). Week commencing 6 September there are a grand total of six fixtures logged across the entire country. There looks like little likelihood of fixture chaos unless August is one long monsoon. -
I think there is a suggestion that some of the blame will fall on Esbjerg, for letting one guy do everything and not supervising his activities, not to mention washing their hands when it all started to fall apart. And I think it unlikely the DMU/FIM will escape without af least some reputational damage. My money is on Discovery suing Esbjerg.

The French must wonder why we moan if a meeting is still going on at 10.15 n'est pas?

Ipswich v Belle Vue 14th July
arnieg replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Other adjectives are available! -
In neither case were they riding for their teams, so neither have missed any meetings., hence the 7 day rule does not apply.
-
How does it help you? Oxford couldn't have overtaken Edinburgh in any circumstances. And it now makes Berwick an outside bet for the play-offs with bottom of the league Birmingham giving them the opportunity of another away win.

A competition with the format of regional mini leagues followed by a final (and usually semi-finals) has been held in the second tier every year since 1997 with the exception of 2003, 2011,2017, 2020, 2021. The first three due to longer league programmes, the last two covid. The competition is on its sixth name: Knock-out Cup (despite most of the fixtures involving no-one being knocked out) National Trophy Premier Trophy League Cup Championship Shield and now Jubilee League

Averages (Premiership vs Championship)
arnieg replied to baiden's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If using a simple conversion factor it should be in the region of 1.25-1.3. However the relationship is not strictly proportionate (witness all the low average rider at the top of the table) so a linear regression would be better modelling. (I have done this before. I think the answer would come out as something like: Prem av = 0.9 Champ av - 2) Edit: just done regression on 2021 stats: formula is: 0.824 Champ Av - 0.32 = Prem Av -
Belle Vue v Kings Lynn Euroflop 11 July
arnieg replied to secsy1's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
2021 - very few heats 13 & 15 (and a ride against reserves in heats 8,12 or 14) 2022 - heats 13 and 15 in every match (and no easy heats 8,12 or 14) Makes a difference -
Championship Pairs 2022
arnieg replied to Triple.H.'s topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
It's a shared event so it may be the BSPL who are [not] selling tickets. It would be nice to know.
