  1. Good point, but with only last ten counting for most riders the Newcy matches will have dropped out already.
  2. Racers were at Cradley that night, but it was rained-off and we diverted to Swindon on our way home only to find floods of biblical proportions at Blunsdon. Yet the meeting went ahead and Dag was a class apart.
  3. Could this be a rare example of a sensible "in the best interests of the sport" decision?
  4. Absolutely shocking that a speedway promoter should be allowed to cover some of the losses made during the regular season with a PROFITABLE meeting.
  5. I think the wide boys are now moving in on football and rugby stadia. Show up as 'knights in shining armour', separate the ground ownership from the operating company. Use the club to launder money for a few years, run it into the ground, declare insolvency, sell ground for property development. Bury FC and now Worcester RFC spring to mind, but there will be several others at risk
  6. You're not suggesting Lynn v BV will never be staged are you?
  7. Denmark seem to have retreated from Fridays and appear to be back to Wednesdays only
  8. They've run EVERY weekend, except against the GP and on Aug 27 when despite best efforts no opposition could be found.
  9. Yes, particularly with so few rounds. The pinnacle of the absurd is the NDL cup final which is still outstanding, despite the entire competition consisting of just two semi finals.
  10. That would imply Aces heat leaders winning 15 out of 18 head to heads against Tigers heat leaders, which seems unlikely to me.
  11. There is a strong argument for not having play-offs in the NDL, in that at most tracks NDL fixtures will be shunted aside in preference to Prem/CL matches making cut-off compliance even more challenging.
  12. So excepting the Thompson twins, basically NDL reserves and second strings. Impressive of Sheffield to use so many riders in so few matches.
  13. Although the most logical north/south split of the current tracks would see Leicester in the Northern League with BV, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Berwick, Redcar, & Scunthorpe.
  14. Well in the end he beat Lampart (and Sorensen) in heat 15. Otherwise all our points came from Bewley or beating Swedes.
  15. I found quite a degree of scepticism about the wisdom of the move up.
  16. When the RS was introduced I did an extensive article in the Star examining past schemes to encourage young talent. They came along about once every seven years and apart from the odd vestigial trace all had disappeared within two years.
  17. Given everything else now has a date (if we assume the outstanding Premiership fixtures will either be on Mon/Thur or never happen) then the only other matches that will have an impact on staging dates are those of Leicester Cubs.
  18. One of those irregular verbs: I made a sound commercial decision You were swayed by financial considerations He took a bribe
  19. Maybe that's Wolves problem. Cos if you don't move at the start you'll be left at the tapes every time. Doh!
