Belle Vue v Kent - Friday 7 July
arnieg replied to PotteringAround's topic in National League Speedway
And their massive home scores ensure their overall GSA is sufficiently high to limit the flexibility they have in team changes that might address their away weakness. -
Glasgow v Redcar CL 7/7/23 @7-30

Unless you can get Tarasenko on 5.00 ( which I presume should be the case following the Rew precedent) stick with Marcin - signed on 5, averaging 5, and likely to improve as he continues to acclimatise to British speedway). -
No serious business person would buy a speedway promotion just to generate tax losses. They would have to lose £40k to save £10k in corporation tax, costing £30k net. A serious speedway fan who is in business might though because it would only cost them £30k to pour £40k in to the money pit that is promoting British speedway.

Glasgow v Redcar CL 7/7/23 @7-30

He can not legally be anyone's asset until he's 16. -
There were certainly some teams expelled from the league (not necessarily the same as having a licence cancelled) in the 1980s for poor tracks/under strength teams. Barrow, Berwick nomads, Milton Keynes, Glasgow at Workington. All from the 1980s NL when it was run almost independently of the British League (and regarded in some circles as the best run set up in speedway).

The relevance is the principle asset Buster has to sell is the licence to run speedway. The value of that asset could be wiped out at a stroke should the BSPL decide. If Chapman puts too high a valuation on the licence and MT turns round to the BSPL and says I can run, I have a lease and a team lined up, but I need you to grant me a fresh licence at a lower cost what happens? Do the BSPL stand by their old mate and let Peterborough speedway die or do they cancel Chapman's licence and grant MT a fresh one, making Chapman's asset worthless at a stroke.
-
Not quite correct. He signed up to be regulated by the SCB/BSPL and has to conform to their regulations.
-
Tape touching does
-
And if successful they can either: 1) pay what Buster demands for the licence, or 2) run NORA speedway. Question: If Buster demands an unreasonable price does the BSPL have the power to substitute a fair price, and would it exercise that power? (Maybe MT could get a legal opinion, to the effect that the licence is a "restrictive practice")

I think Oxford could beat KL at home but would loose on aggregate. Cheetahs strong at 3 and 5, and while Stars have the advantage at 2,4 & 6, they are hardly overwhelming (for example in the recent Oxford/Berwick fixtures Jenkins outscored Jorgensen 12 to 9).
-
And (subject to constraints of maximum ride rule) every reserve substitution should be preceeded by a tape touching

Best wishes to Luke Harrison on his Championship debut. It will be interesting to see where else he pops up along with Boughen and Perry -
I thought ever since Tim Stone it was mandatory to have two promoters,. Does this mean that Peterborough have been operating outside the regulations?
-
Yes they have, look at the latest issue of the Greensheets. (Oddly I could see no announcement about this on Oxford's social media so I can see how you missed it I did too until I picked up this thread)

Leicester vs Peterborough 06/07/23 PREMIERSHIP R2
arnieg replied to IainB's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Given the number of postings on the subject we've clearly identified the single most important weakness of British Speedway - a clock. You should obviously do a thousand mea culpas before the crowd at the next match. -
Oxford obtain no advantage given he's on 3.00 average. Sam Woods/James Laker will score the same points whether they are a guest or named no 7.. However Signing, and then operating rider replacement for Kelsey Dugard after just one and a half meetings is another discussion. But by replacing RR for Dugard (extra rides for Kinsley,Scott and Clouting) with Jason Garrad they have weakened their team.

Leicester vs Peterborough 06/07/23 PREMIERSHIP R2
arnieg replied to IainB's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Possibly because passing at Leicester is fairly reliant on riders making mistakes and in the PL simply fewer riders make mistakes. -
Correct. Roynon and Bowen are the only other NDL riders born in the 80's. Although a couple of years ago we had Ledwith [49] and Hurry [46] in the Kent team

It's 4 years 11 months out. 2 year no drug test ban - no reduction 2 years voluntarily [2021 & 2022]- 2 x 8% reduction. 11 months part year ignored. Mind you I'm hardly sympathetic to even the 16% reduction. (his drug ban covered most of the 2020 covid season, so he was hardly being penalised that year.)

King's Lynn Vs Sheffield 06.07.23
arnieg replied to StarBoy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Perhaps because Dave agreed to help out an old friend at a difficult time, filling a clearly defined role, not to be the receptacle for all of King's Lynn's fans anger, despondency, hate and despair. -

Because the promoter won't get a rebate on his rent, insurance, SCB dues etc and all these fixed costs have to be met. Most other sports refunds are not pro-rata ( e.g. for 75 minutes Test cricket you only get a 50% refund even though you've lost 75%+ of play.) I think it should be based on 10 heats (then you have seen a match with a result), but should be based on 10% of the admission fee for every heat forgone (and that is indeed how some tracks operate the system at the moment).
