The format is easy to construct, but the problem is that it requires 12 riders to have back to back races. It only works here because there are two groups so even 'consecutive ' races are two heats apart.
But his actual 2023 average based on all official fixtures has him 9th (or 10th behind Danny King if you ignore bonus points). That has to be short of expectations.
The thing that has really made my visits to Oxford a pure pleasure is the atmosphere - packed crowd, huge waves of emotion as the drama unfolds. Like you I'm a fan of local rivals through and through (Racers rather than Robins) but it is impossible not to get wrapped up in the excitement.
The big question tonight is:
Who will score more - Rowe or Newman?
(If Rowe outscores Newman then he stays in top 5 for August, otherwise Newman moves up from reserve)
Well you could test everybody at every event but that would cost a couple of grand a time. Are people willing to accept a £2 admission fee increase for this?
The simple way is to have a points limit for heatleaders (as well as the overall points limit). And have an accurate conversion factor between the leagues ÷1.5 is monstrously inaccurate)
Here's my worries:
2022 (Ipswich)
First 12 matches 60 rides 102 pts av 6.80
Last 8 matches 33 rides 32 points ave 3.88
2022 (Oxford)
Championship Away average 5.67 ( to be fair he was pretty decent at Oxford 9 double figure scores ( Inc bonus) in 11 matches)
