  1. I did write him down, but crossed him out as the brief was British League era. Les Hewitt (Coventry 1949-53) similarly falls by the wayside.
  2. I've got two Australians - one from Middlesbrough and one from Rye House. Both did five did five seasons.
  3. He was appointed from a five person shortlist following interviews. At least one of whom is a member of this forum.
  4. We seem to say that every time they change it! https://www.svemo.se/vara-sportgrenar/start-speedway/resultat-speedway/resultat-bauhausligan-speedway
  5. It would also have prevented Charger Nathan Stoneman guesting for the Cheetahs last year when covering for Josh Macdonald
  6. Technically he was 'a minor under the age of 18' who can't be named.
  7. 5 months = 22 weeks. So 44 race days. 7 teams x 12 matches = 84 fixtures Of these 8 are taken up by British Final, Pairs, KO Cup and World Cup week. That leaves 36 available dates. At 2 matches per night that's 72 matches. Still leaves 12 further matches to be scheduled. [A few of those can be squeezed into bank hols or world cup week involving teams without 'world cup tied' riders] ...but there were always going to some dates with 6 teams racing
  8. Of course Buster has form: 22 August 1992. King's Lynn v Reading Awarded 75-nil to the Racers after Chapman unilaterally cancelled the match because Loram and Henka were unavailable.
  9. Anyone with the IQ of a lettuce could have forseen that with fixed race nights where six of seven teams were riding and almost universal doubling up, it would result sooner or later in a situation where no (decent) guests were available. So why didn't the BSPL realise this was the inevitable consequence of their decisions? Oh I see.
  10. Were Redcar given the option of postponing their match at Sheffield in 2017? [Due to injury Redcar's announced line up contained six guests and r/r]
  11. Unlikely as Poland under 24's are on Tuesday and Connor should be at Redcar on Tuesday.
  12. That's a 'no facility' guest - I.e. up to 75% of replaced rider's average. Can't use R/R as there is no facility.
  13. Fans demand qualifyer BSPL decides to stage qualifyer Fans don't turn up in sufficient numbers Promoter loses money BSPL decides not to stage qualifyer Fans demand qualifyer Repeat ad nauseum
  14. Basically Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwartang saved Edinburgh speedway by tanking the economy
  15. Indeed. Look at Leon Madsen - was already 30 when he became a GP regular. Or Lindgren heading for a career best finish at age 38. At the other end Crump, Woffinden and Artem Laguta all struggled when they were introduced to the GP relatively early.
  16. I think this was it http://www.gbspeedway.com/2023/championship.php?mc1=o&mc2=bwo&mc3=x&mc4=x&champ=BWO
  17. Lambert 3.89 [CL av of 5.84 /1.5] qualified ahead of Hume and similarly Cook and Barker who were not in PL teams on 25 July when new greensheets were issued are there by dint of their CL averages divided by 1.5. So I reiterate my view that it's based on 1 August GSAs. Would have been nice if they could simply have said that though.
  18. How about Wozniak [5.91 GSA, fresher than Wuffy's] for Cook 5.96. Should be free from Polish commitments after next weekend, knows Leicester and UK.
  19. He *may* be destined for Glasgow, but he can't have signed for them yet as he can not in law sign a contract until he reaches 16. So everyone else still has a week to come up with a better offer.
  20. There is no 2.5% deduction once the season has started so that comes in at 39.37
  21. Not a new thing: http://www.internationalspeedway.co.uk/wtc13.htm
