No and No The 'prize' goes to the club. [Footballers get nothing for winning the league except a medal. The prize goes to the club - £63 million in Man City's case]. Did the Poole promotion get a prize ? No. Did they decide to incentives their riders by offering them a win bonus in the form of a holiday - yes. The Reading prize was simply a bet at a bookies [called Lloyd's of London]. Had another team won the league the only winners would have been the Lloyd's underwriters bookies.
-
I've yet to see a TV quiz show where the prize is that you get to pay for your own holiday 🫢
-
They should have signed Lee Harrison too
-
Morley, Foord Ablitt and Charlie Wood don't. They'd probably get first dibs on Etherington and add Rhys Naylor and it would form the basis of a decent team
-
There are also some posters that applies to as well 😉
-
And it would be commercially astute to do it for the final weekend as it would increase the likelihood of the title being decided there rather than a fortnight earlier in Vojens [or similar]
-
It'll be worth waiting for 🙃

One of Reading Racers most underwhelming riders
-
There was never a ban, riders were sometimes 'discouraged' but that is as far as it went. There would be a lot of gaps in Champ/NDL teams if you banned all of the following: Scott Nicholls Joe Thompson William Cairns Alfie Bowtell Paul Starke Jacob Clouting Sonny Springer Dayle Wood Nathan Ablitt Jason Edwards Vinnie Foord Jason Garrad Tom Spencer Freddie Hodder Matt Marson Arran Butcher Jamie Etherington

If it was, the Trophy would have a lower points limit. It doesn't. So the answer to your question is no.

Grand Prix Ticket Sales
arnieg replied to Beercellar1966's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I have represented a speedway promoter in negotiating a tax settlement as a consequence of an Inland Revenue investigation. The HMRC selection criteria mean they are not likely to regard loss making businesses as a high priority. [Loss offset rules are far more restrictive than people believe and the commonly held belief that tax losses generated by speedway businesses have significant value is often misguided] -
Smoli's form dropped thru the floor last season. I would advise against.
-
And if Worky went NDL who would they sign? Most of the northern based riders will be committed to Edinburgh, Belle Vue, M'brough and Scunfield. How many southern based riders of a reasonable standard could they persuade to travel all the way to Workington.
-
Spooner should be 5.07, he only did 2 matches this year.
-
It isn't (Cardiff according to google). And even if it had twice as much rain as (say) Leicester or King's Lynn I'd still rate their chances of getting a meeting on as better than almost anywhere else.
-
Neither. It's 'has been a GP rider for at least two years' Not complete years, so I would take the view that once he has ridden in the first GP of 2025 he has been a GP rider in 2024 and 2025.
-
I'd be more worried if he wore his condoms like a hat 😝
-
Having watched a considerable amount ov youth racing I'd rate Rushen higher than Vale and Springer, both of whom averaged in the region of six in their debut season.
-
Injured last April, don't think he's ridden since

Berwick ‘buy a brick’ Bandits 2025
arnieg replied to emilali's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
He didn't. Think the closest comparator is Troy Batchelor. Both ex GP, both clearly on the slide, both no longer attracting interest in Poland, but both still able to do a job in Championship. I think 8.5 is probably a pretty fair reflection of his likely scoring. -
I doubt you saw Boyce as a 16 year old, I think he was 20 when he arrived at Poole.
-
My long campaign to persuade a member of the SCB that linear regression should be used never really gained much momentum. 🫢
-
Surely the "temporary two pointer's" objective will be to out perform other two pointers, leaving the likely outcome that he will replace one of them. [Wood, Perry, Hodder and Spencer could be vulnerable]
-
That's a rewriting of history. There was considerable doubt about the wisdom of running three teams this time last year. However I am disappointed that with more time to plan there is not greater commonality between the teams. As for the team manager sometimes a discrete silence is the best response.

But with 42 slots in the NDL and only 30 in the 'NDL lite' there will be plenty of possibilities, including heat leaders because of the low points limit
