  1. It is also worth noting that it has taken Thompson two years less to do this so the case is far from closed. They both had good seasons, they both showed plenty of promise, and I hope they both have successful careers ahead of them.
  2. It's the one where in the regular season Gusrow finished top and Stralsund second. Then in the final Gustrow (lead by Timo Lahti) beat Stralsund. As a result Stralsund got a silver medal, .. and a wooden spoon.
  3. But you are taking a single year. Since 2021 Dan has gone from 5.05 to 7.55. A lot of people were describing Dan as 'going nowhere, progress stalled etc' a year ago (which is one of thre reasons I think people should stop slagging Flint off). Dan got back on track this season, but Edwards has never been 'off track' hence he's improved by more than Thompson.
  4. He rode 18 matches for Oxford in BL2 (the second-half junior league). As far as I know he never made it to the British or National Leagues. He rode 3 seasons for Oxford juniors, 86 to 88
  5. But as Oxford don't ride their home matches at Lynn I would expect his home average to plummet.
  6. I would never sign a rider with a 4 point home/away differential Home av 6.98 Away av 2.76
  7. George Hislop was a regular second-halfer at Edinburgh in 1988 Are you sure about the Oxford date? Is it the SEMI FINAL on 8 May 1988. Ian Batley was a regulqar second-halfer at Oxford that year though The Long Eaton date is 1985 and David Biles of Poole is listed at no 15 in the programme.
  8. Well two Championship managers are frequently critiqued for making (or not making) various tactical moves. E.g forgetting to put two riders in a race Not using a tac sub in ht 14 Failing to give their best rider an r/r ride!
  9. Edwards end of season Championship GSA: 2021: 2.22 2022: 3.90 2023: 4.67 2024: 6.34 Peaked! 🤔 that's more progress than Dan Thompson or Anders Rowe have they peaked too?
  10. 40 => Rowe, 38 => 4 pt foreigner. I do see a potential issue which is that having a Dane in the team worked in 2024 because Tobias wasn't perceived as good enough to land a regular DSL spot back in Denmark, but his progress may mean that next season he is wanted back in Denmark on Wednesday's for DSL matches. If no Tobias in 2025, then that would make sense of the Ablitt rumours as an alternative.
  11. Just a reminder that in case 2023 the Lion Cubs started the season with six riders aged 18 or younger. The exception - the ridiculously ancient Tom Spencer.
  12. Can we just take it as read that any rider who was killed in action 'left us too soon' The most complete list is here: https://speedwayinmemoriam.yolasite.com/
  13. In the words of Sir Humphrey it would be a brave choice to pick a 27 year old who hasn't ridden for two years and had done little of note previously.
  14. For this type of calculation the GDP deflator is a more accurate measure. 1977: 14.3 1978 16.2 2023 : 100 That makes @1 valve 's figure pretty much spot on.
  15. I thought he sounded very mature when on the mike at the play-off final second leg.
  16. Just how long have they been waiting. I do hope the Travelplus tour party aren't flying back tonight.
  17. But the PZM identified this as a weakness in the Polish system and they came up with the under 24 league to give additional opportunities to 22 and 23 year olds. The main problem with our system is that it applies to the wrong league.
  18. Rode at Iwade on Sunday. Looked rusty though.
  19. The 5 dropped matches had a lowest score of 7+1 and include a maximum against Belle Vue. 22 rides 38 points ave 6.91
  20. No to both those posts which just means going further down the list.
  21. This year 9 2pt [or near as - I've included Trigger at 2.08] riders were needed. If 2025 is similar, then we have: McGurk, Hodder, Garrad, James already in situ. So with a further 5 needed, the first 5 available based on NDL averages would be [in order]: Scott, Wood Spencer, Perry and Phillips. (although I think Springer, Vale and Marson would be better bets than Phillips)
