Application for a later end time goes to planning ctee of Swale Council on Thursday. report here: http://services.swale.gov.uk/meetings/documents/g1295/Public%20reports%20pack%2018th-Sep-2014%2019.00%20Planning%20Committee.pdf?T=10 Have to say I wouldn't be optimistic, tone of the report is very negative.

He didn't quit. His contract came to an end. I believe he even rode an additional match after the contractually agreed end date.

Kings Lynn V Lakeside Tues 16th Sept 7.30pm
arnieg replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No - Denmark is over, but... The second semi-final in the Swedish play-offs could take out Schlein and Bjerre if Lynn were to ride on wednesday. -
so you are saying Poole should be allowed to build to a higher points limit than Swindon :o

Witches V Devils Ko Cup Semi Final 11-9-14 @ 7-30pm
arnieg replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a press release bigging up the second leg! -
It doesn't matter in the slightest what it is called (how about the Peter Craven stadium - a BRITISH world champion and a Belle Vue icon) What matters is that it gets built. Given the financials I have seen that can't be taken for granted. There is a difference between being sceptical and not wanting the stadium to be built - could we try and be a bit more positive instead of abusing those who remain to be convinced that the project will come to fruition.

So we are agreed he must have been born on or after 1 January 1993
-
Most websites give his date of birth as 5 June 1992. But he competed in both World and European under 21 championships this year. So what is his correct date of birth?

Workington V Glasgow 06/09/14 18:30 Hrs (pl)
arnieg replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think edmon is right about it being against the rules, but cyclone is right about there being precedents, and common sense suggests that it would be better to have results in both meetings. I seem to recall this being done at Oxford in the days of conference league double headers. best wishes to Millsy for a speedy recovery -

Worrying Rye House Rumours

Attractive opposition, good weather, no football ....and yet the 'crowd' is pitiful. The air of decay hangs heavy @ Hoddesdon -
Lakeside V Poole (part 2) Friday 5th September.
arnieg replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It was closed about 20 years ago after one promoter whined particularly loudly about it. And as predicted the consequences of having three races with just three riders resulted in the BSPA changing the rule back again a year or two later. -
With regards Jessup, I never really saw him as World Champion material, but maybe that was because he rode for Reading. Touche, Graham

Swindon V Wolves Thursday 4th Sept
arnieg replied to Adder's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Last time I was there they had a young Johnny Cash wanna be. Thought he was pleasant to listen to. The danger (and I have witnessed this elsewhere) is you get the promoter's niece doing cat screaching karaoke. -
Patryk Dudek Tests Positive For Banned Substance
arnieg replied to lastword's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
This is a minefield and should be left well alone. For example if a rider has been found to have taken performance debilitating drugs (e.g. Alchohol) should we add points to his team? If a rider has been taking a substance for a prolonged time should we rerun the previous season? What if removing rider A's points changes the average of another rider such that a subsequent team change becomes illegal? Precedent is strongly against doing this - e.g. Ed Kennett's points were not deducted from Coventry results earlier in the season. -
My favourite quote: Belle Vue Aces who compete at a national level and will act as a catalyst for the success of the other sporting facilities created. Don't think they can have seen Belle Vue or the British 'Elite' League recently. Looks good to me, the objections are predictable, but small in number. From my experience (I've sat on planning cttes on and off for 25 years, two of which have dealt with major stadium applications.) Tactically the best thing to do is understand that the objectors concerns are reasonable and explain that that is why the report goes into great detail over noise mitigation and traffic management measures, and that appropriate conditions are attached to protect their interests. I'm sure spectators will be delighted to see that a 'dust minimisation plan' is required - what about rain minimisation?

Thoughts On The Pl Season So Far?
arnieg replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Although the weather this season has been pretty average. The winter rain clearly did some damage to tracks at the start of the season, but the stats for the last 6 months show rainfall at just above the long term average. So how much more of a mess will there be if we have a wet summer! -
No thread for KL v Cradley yet either... just saying...

Swindon V Wolves Thursday 4th Sept
arnieg replied to Adder's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Think that they might be well matched for Glasgow and Rye House! Have to say I'm beginning to think that the sensible thing to do might be to abandon this year's Elite League. After all the play-offs will largely be determined by who makes the most astute choice of guest - not who has the best team. -
No it's accurate reporting of what transpired on Sunday. But hey don't let the facts get in the way of your prejudices. Oh and if you review my posts you will see I have generally been very critical of the Leicester track. But even poor tracks occasionally produce the odd pass.

Kings Lynn V Lakeside Date?
arnieg replied to Speedwaycrazy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
But it has: 1992 King's Lynn v Reading. -
Totally off topic, but they were the best programme notes ever written...and I think you were right about Mike Lee P.S. If anyone is interested in finding out what was so great about JC's articles keep an eye out on ebay for 'NL90' which contains many of his finest pieces.

Should The "heat 10" Rule Be Scrapped?
arnieg replied to Grachan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This illustrates the typical cycle of a speedway rule 1. There is an injustice. Let me take you back to 1989. The visitors were 43-29 up with four heats to go before the match was abandoned due to lack of ambulance cover. The hosts concede (due to injuries they would only have had one rider in heat 13's rerun). However according to the rule book the match can't be awarded. Much sympathy for the visitors and widespread agreement among fans that it should have been awarded. 2. Fans call for a new rule allowing result to be declared after a certain number of heats after this and other examples. 3. New rule introduced (in this case not for another decade) - result can be declared after 12 heats (now 10) 4. Everyone says how sensible. 5. New rule produces arguments about whether the last 3/5 heats should be run in poor conditions and matches being called off once a result has been achieved even where there is no curfew (particularly second part of double headers) 6. Calls for scrapping of rule 7. Rule scrapped 8. More examples like point 1 and abandoned fixtures being rearranged on cold Thursdays with two guest stuffed teams lead to demands for its reintroduction. 9. repeat ad nauseum Alternatively at point 7 the rule is rewritten to incorporate all sorts of caveats, and that explains why the rule book gets longer and longer. -
A fair summary
