  1. No it doesn't. the appeal will be heard by a planning inspector in Bristol who couldn't give a flying fig for where the fans come from. The inspector will look at the material issue - which is it a 'noise nuisance' (answer - yes) and is the condition (the 8.30pm curfew) a proportionate response (I'd hope not but given the hostility in the officer's report I won't be putting any money on it). Where the spectators come from may play a role in the thinking of the Swale councillors (it shouldn't), but the appeal will not be in their hands.
  2. We've had threads in the past about record number of postponements due to rain (not to mention dodgy generators, lack of medical coverage and not enough spoons in the tea bar ), but.. This September looks like setting a modern era record. There has only been one match rained off (Cradley v Mildy) and even that reached heat 7. This is the lowest number of September call-offs since 1961 when just a single meeting got rained-off. Typical September figure is around ten - imagine where the play-offs would be if we'd had ten rain-offs this month
  3. Masarna tackar nej - doesn't require google translate to work that one out! So with losing play-off finalists Masarna declining the vacant slot in the Elitserien, it is being offered to Gnistorna who lost their Allsvenskan play-off semi final (although they did top the league in the regular season. Are they likely to accept, and if not who gets the next offer?
  4. Speedway Star meeting report says Nico Covatti was just one ride away from becoming the first Italian full time GP rider. C'mon guys, I have two words for you: Armando Castagna ..it's not as if he's vanished into thin air
  5. Sodenberg? ?? Jesper Soegaard? aka Jesper Kristiansen?
  6. Norway - Hmm! Three man teams and a standard equivalent to Elite League fast track. Using Dolgin's rankings a team of Josh Bates, Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves would be a match for Norway's top team (Glen Moi, Espen Sundvor, Lasse Fredriksson)
  7. He's retired see here: http://www.vf.se/sport/speedway/nermark-lagger-av Put through google translate yields: "He first took a break from the sport. Hesitated, then for continuation. And now it's definitely Daniel Nermark ends with the speedway. - I have lost interest and I am not one hundred percent motivated there is no point to run on, say Vermlander. Daniel Nermark is Värmland most successful speedway rider and has represented a variety of Swedish clubs in the top league. Here in Värmland, he is of course mainly connected with rollers, but his career also cover other teams and leagues. He has several times run well in Poland, considered by many to be the world's best speedway league. But after this year's tough season so put Nermark shoe on the shelf. His team in England, Birmingham Brummies, went bankrupt, he was fired from the town and were outside the team in Poland. There remained only rolls before Nermark left the sport. - It was so struligt with clubs and money, so I lost the urge. It's everything around that makes me tired. The skating, I think is still damn fun, says Daniel Nermark. He says it reached a limit. - It has been in some strange way become accustomed to not always get the money they are entitled to, but now I have lost motivation. And you can not go around doing bad results, we have after all a business of people helping one. He leaves, however, a tiny opening, even though he has already started to sell parts of the speedway. - I have no more ambition to run more. I feel ready and do not believe in coming back after the long break. But at the same time, I have changed my mind before, then you should not say that it is completely written in stone, says Nermark. Now waiting for a different life for Nermark without speedway - which he welcomes. - I think it's exciting, a new mode of doing anything else in life. I'm used to the speedway in my life, might as well get used to without it. This year's premier division was injury filled and there were clubs that tried to get Nermark to jump on the bike again. - But it did not feel as location for it, I'm told that is not justified. • What highlights do you bring from your career? - The first SM-gold with rollers, it is number one on my list. The individual SM-gold slamming too high. Then it's very small stuff, such as when you have been very hurt and comes back and runs really well. It was a nice feeling. • You have taken a lot of punishment in his career and suffered several injuries. How are you today? - Just great, and it's something I'm grateful. Several who went very bad, but it has not. I am hale and hearty, and in better shape than 15-20 years ago. • The secret? - That I exercise a lot and had a good partnership with KMTI. • Will you let go completely Speedway? - I'm not particularly interested in what happens in the premier league or anything like that, but I have a little heart in the Speedway in Karlstad. I was with at Karlstad Open and some other occasions, and it's something I can imagine continue. • And nice to not have all the traveling? - I've actually always liked it, not seeing it as a problem, although it can be a bit tedious at times. It's pretty funny, last week I was in England, and took care of some things and when I got to the airport it felt like home, laughing Nermark."
  8. Thank you Impressed me when I saw him in Denmark a couple of years ago, but seems to have been making slow progress since
  9. How about a merger with Norway's second Division? Speedway Liga 2 Totalt M w d l FP K P Oslo ............4 3 0 1 182 - 153 1.19 6 Kristiansand 4 1 0 3 153 - 182 0.84 2 Speedway Liga 2 2014-06-07 Oslo - Kristiansand 47 - 42 Lunner Stadion ...........15:00 Kristiansand - Oslo 51 - 39 Kristiansand Motorstadion 2014-08-23 13:00 Kristiansand - Oslo 31 - 38 Kristiansand Motorstadion 2014-09-06 13:00 Oslo - Kristiansand 58 - 29 Lunner Stadion http://www.aktuellspeedway.se/europa/norge/speedway-liga-2/tabell/2014/
  10. Sadly recent evidence would suggest that riders can do just that. there is little point in banning such riders if it simply results in them deciding not to ride in Britain. Any solution to this problem has to recognise the reality. PMP:- " ...the situation could become farcical." could become... could become.... Bit late for that - there have been 32 Elite League fixtures in the last four weeks. Every single one of them has featured at least one guest
  11. Round winner 18 runner-up 16 third 14 fourth 12 fifth onwards; 11-10-9 etc Lowest scoring round dropped from overall total
  12. They had permission from the council - last night's curfew was 9.30, but the meeting was over by 8.45. I imagine that the council noise team were out taking measurements, and that there will be an addendum to Thursday's report with any observations from last night. Bet some resi will complain about the dreadful racket at 9.15 on Monday evening
  13. I went to a tenth wedding anniversary bash at Kirky Lane (during a greyhound meeting) ....they separated shortly after!
  14. A couple of good races (heats 4 & 9), but far too much of a difference in abilities/experience. Greenwood gated in the crucial heat 4 and was steady under pressure. Jack Kingston was fast and stayed on - a very encouraging performance. Nathan Greaves great effort. Ellis Perks (son of former ref Robbie I believe) looked good and is adapting to British tracks When all four riders ended up in a heap in heat 2 and the first four heats took 30 minutes I wondered if the extra hour would be sufficient - but it was all over by 8.45 (so heats 5-20 took just 75 minutes) When this event was first held (as an under 18 championship) 14 of the 16 participants were NL heat leader standard or better. Last night just Greenwood, Bates & Greaves fitted that description.
  15. Application for a later end time goes to planning ctee of Swale Council on Thursday. report here: http://services.swale.gov.uk/meetings/documents/g1295/Public%20reports%20pack%2018th-Sep-2014%2019.00%20Planning%20Committee.pdf?T=10 Have to say I wouldn't be optimistic, tone of the report is very negative.
  16. He didn't quit. His contract came to an end. I believe he even rode an additional match after the contractually agreed end date.
  17. No - Denmark is over, but... The second semi-final in the Swedish play-offs could take out Schlein and Bjerre if Lynn were to ride on wednesday.
  18. so you are saying Poole should be allowed to build to a higher points limit than Swindon :o
  19. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a press release bigging up the second leg!
  20. It doesn't matter in the slightest what it is called (how about the Peter Craven stadium - a BRITISH world champion and a Belle Vue icon) What matters is that it gets built. Given the financials I have seen that can't be taken for granted. There is a difference between being sceptical and not wanting the stadium to be built - could we try and be a bit more positive instead of abusing those who remain to be convinced that the project will come to fruition.
  21. So we are agreed he must have been born on or after 1 January 1993
  22. Most websites give his date of birth as 5 June 1992. But he competed in both World and European under 21 championships this year. So what is his correct date of birth?
  23. I think edmon is right about it being against the rules, but cyclone is right about there being precedents, and common sense suggests that it would be better to have results in both meetings. I seem to recall this being done at Oxford in the days of conference league double headers. best wishes to Millsy for a speedy recovery
