Gb Win Longtrack World Team Cup
arnieg replied to Sotonian's topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
I think the Dutch won it a couple of years ago. Congrats to the British team, nice to see a couple of Racers becoming world champions. -
As an occasional visitor I'm inclined to agree that the standard of racing at Monmore is not what it was. But I thought the atmosphere was good (at least if you were one of the many Cov fans there). Cov did their best to give Wolves a chance in the first half of the match, and I was looking forward to a last heat decider - but three 5-1s in a row killed the match. Harris rode some exceptional second bends, getting his teammate into 5-1 positions. It's unusual to see a team have a rider fall when on the wrong end of a 5-1 three times, and every time the fallen Wolf cleared the track. I say chaps, jolly sporting. Wolves are woefully lacking in riders who can consistently win races at the moment - but at least they should get three points next week when Leicester are vthe visitors.

Latest Greensheets make interesting reading. Lakeside are on 35.05, 2.84 higher than Cov (32.21), so Cov can strengthen up! Lakeside's average will drop when Jonsson finally gets a real average but Lakeside's main weakness is at reserve and they can't do much in the way of strengthening up. Walasek, and Musielak are still on pre-2015 averages. Ignoring Jonsson who's real average will be below 8, the top riders in the EL by official average are: 1 Macej Janowski 8.76 (taking over no 1 spot from Doyle) 2 Jason Doyle 8.65 (who said he wasn't a decent number 1?) 3 N-K Iversen 8.26 4 Chris Holder 8.13 (helped by a month as a second string) 4 Scott Nicholls 7.96 (nearly a point above Zagar) 5 Nick Morris 7.96 (a double upper!) There are nine double uppers with higher EL averages than Sam Masters - but turn to the PL averages and (bar injured Simon Stead) Masters is only below Danny King. Poole and Coventry have the best EDR pairings, Lakeside and Leicester (partly due to Auty missing so many meetings) the weakest Now look at the League table

The sunset's got to be worth a fiver of that -
At Scunny on Friday they were hoping he might be back for their next home match - but that isn't until July 10.

Leicester V Belle Vue 20/6/15
arnieg replied to stevethelion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Only 35 minute sunbreak last night. (Even though it was overcast all day and raining during the parade!) So what happens week Monday when SKY roll up? Can't see us having a 45 minute break then, but don't think Doyle, in particular, will be happy to carry on riding. -
I notice BSPA press release gives his age as 23 not 22!

Moving Venue Finals
arnieg replied to secsy1's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I'm all for promoters lining their pockets (providing they put on a decent meeting) - otherwise how are they going to cover the losses that most of them make during the regular season? Stick with what works, that means PL Pairs at Somerset on eve of GP, PL Fours at Peterboro on a Sunday when everyone has six hours (excluding travel time) to spare. I like the idea of the British championship at the new Belle Vue. Given the standard of riders British Championship qualifiers should be on PL tracks and Under 21 qualifiers on NL tracks. -
The Dilemma Of Greg Hancock
arnieg replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Punch ups happen from time to time (and it's worth noting how often they crop up in people's misty eyed reminiscences). They are wrong and shouldn't happen BUT given the passion of the moment they should be met with fairly light sanction. What does need a tough response is riders who attack fallen riders who might need medical attention. -
I don't understand this comment - nowhere do I express any opinion. I hope for nothing other than a reasoned discussion of the matter in hand, which your posting of article 11.2 furthers but your subsequent posting does not.

I think it is open to interpretation: 110. Article 10.8 CAD states that “In addition to the automatic Disqualification of the results in the Competition which produced the positive Sample under Article 9 (Automatic Disqualification of Individual Results), all other competitive results obtained from the date a positive Sample was collected (…) or any other anti-doping rule violation occurred, though the commencement of any Provisional Suspension or Ineligibility period, shall, unless fairness requires otherwise, be Disqualified, with all of the resulting consequences including forfeiture of any medals, points and prizes.” 111. In this respect, Mr Ward has pointed out that Article 10.8 CAD shall not be applied in cases where fairness requires otherwise. Besides referring to the fact that he was not told he was suspended until several weeks later, Mr Ward has, however, not specified any reasons for fairness that would apply in this case. 112. CDI finds that, in the light of the clear wording of Article 10.8 CAD, it is not allowed to depart from the wording in other than exceptional circumstances. Mr Ward has not produced evidence in support of his allegation. Therefore, the principle set out in Article 10.8 CAD shall apply, and consequently all the results that Mr Ward obtained in all the Competitions in which he participated from 17 August 2014 until 27 August 2014, are to be cancelled, respectively forfeited. nb My bolding of what appear to be the key phrases

Swc Final 2015

My sentiments too (though you had to spoil it by mentioning the 2006 playoff final). A much needed break of the Danish/Polish domination of this event in recent years. -
25 heats of last man standing on a woeful track £15 Programme with cramped racecard £2 Perfectly adequate cup of tea £1.50 Watching Brummies fans celebrate their victory a week shy of the anniversary of the club receiving its death warrant PRICELESS. Well done (but I still wish I'd gone to Vojens!)

Milton Keynes Sword Of Honour Classic 28/03/1978
arnieg replied to daveallan81's topic in Years Gone By
I was there; from my programme: PS My programme is very untidy if that helps. (It was the sort of meeting that would normally have been rained off without hesitation if it hadn't been a special event.) -
We probably won't be able to see him for the dust though ;<) Will have to dig out my readmission ticket from the fiasco that was the original staging. Ironically it has been thru the washing machine since then!

Coincidentally Andy Smith's son made his National League debut last night.

1 Not a single fan with a programme board 2 The swap was supposed to be between heats 4 & 5 but clearly took place before heat 2 3 Would everyone really ignore a fight in the pits? Plenty of precedents to suggest not 4 With two people on the track the ref would bang on the red light instantaneously - last night the riders carried on while the two actors grappled on the centre green So which Swindon rider has a drug courier in their pit crew? I see the show has got pretty poor reviews - not surprised, it was formulaic, clichéd, with paper thin characters.
