Scunthorpe V Berwick

Rob you don't have a leg to stand on 16.5.2.2 is clear and unambiguous there are no qualifications. Nothing in 18.10 contradicts 16.5.2.2 - the combination of the two rules means it must be RR for the no 1 and guests for the other missing riders. Scunny got it wrong, end of. I do wonder why 16.5.2.2 is in section 16 when it clearly pertains only to the PL and should properly be in section 18. -
Nothing new there, anyone who remembers the inevitability of watching your team go six up against Oxford only to face Nielsen/Dugard and Nielsen/Wigg in the last two heats will recognise this situation. My objection to the TR is that when you compile a team's averages the sum of all the riders points no longer equals the sum of the team's race points. And I can no longer be certain that in a meeting with no dropped points the sum of the aggregate scores is always divisible by six. The recent posts on this thread have been of the highest quality seen anywhere on the BSF for some time

Danes often stay on 85cc bikes until 16 or even 17 - has that harmed their development? Germany are the exception here, I can't think of any other countries that allow 14 year olds to compete against grown-ups, and it hasn't led to German domination in the World under 21s. This debate is a red herring. Getting more riders into the sport and giving them more opportunities is the key.

Well somebody's got to build that new track

I'm sure that would amuse Craig Boyce

Kent Vs Eastbourne Monday 17th August 6:30pm
arnieg replied to Alex2000's topic in National League Speedway
Not often I can say this about Kent, but FANTASTIC RACING Kent kept in the match for seven heats so it wasn't quite the runaway win the final score suggests. There was a lot of moving at the start (from both sides) and I thought Holt did a reasonable job of judging the fine line between a fast start and a rolling start. I can't see how Ben Morley can complain about his heat 13 exclusion, if he doesn't want to be excluded he should stop rolling at the start. Bit hard on Adam Shepherd, his third over Owen was one of the best rides I've seen from him And Spiller was pretty spectacular, can't argue with a paid 20 haul. while it makes his average look silly he has just as much right to it as Zach Wajtknecht, Adam Ellis and Robert Lambert (not to mention Rob Branford and Nick Morris) And a great crowd (with a very strong Eastbourne contingent) -
Having seen both teams in the last 48 hours I think it is doable. 27 points v. 5 pts for their respective bottom threes at Kent and Buxton tells the story. Mildenhall's side has a similar shape to Buxton and unless Kirby and Chapman perk up the Brummies may struggle with that one. Coventry will test the Eagles, and Birmingham probably wouldn't have won there had Connor Dwyer not crashed out after winning heat 2 so they will be a tough proposition. But there is no date for that one yet. Brummies v Eagles on Sept 2 is the next key fixture. When they met in the cup Eagles lost by five BUT: Wajtknecht won't get seven rides and Spiller will outscore Dugard when they meet again. So it's all to ride for on Sept 2 And if Cradley can win at Rye,King's Lynn and Coventry before then the finale could be even more complicated

Does this mean that Summers has thrown away a full season's doubling up income in 2017 for a handful of matches this autumn?

I think a few people said that about Birmingham before they travelled to Buxton yesterday. (But I still agree with you) -

Academic now, but as Andersen isn't riding for Munkebo (Kenni Larsen per their website) Cov would have not had a facility, so I suspect he would have been at Cov. -

Now that Lewis is (thankfully) on the road to recovery can we now ask when the final is likely to be restaged. Presumably it will be a 16 heat 4TT involving the four finalists (there are precedents), but where? -
Admission Prices At Tracks Sweden V Britain
arnieg replied to mike1944's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Probably true when we got ten kroner to the pound, but now that it's 13 I am less convinced it is (particularly if you include housing costs). A corollary of the movement in the exchange rate is that the UK becomes a much more attractive place for Swedes to earn a living, think we could be seeing more Swedes in the PL. e.g. Joel Larsson, Kenny Wennerstam, Mathias Thornblom, John Lindman, Frederik Engman -
try Malmo speedway http://www.aktuellspeedway.se/sverige/bana/malmo-motorstadion/ Next nearest is probably Slangerup (in Denmark) http://www.aktuellspeedway.se/danmark/bana/slangerup-speedway-center/

Best Car Parking / Security Teams
arnieg replied to Mike.Butler's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Varies from track to track. In most cases the revenue goes to the stadium owner, not to the speedway promotion. Where the speedway promotion has control over the car park they are likely to use volunteers, but where the stadium is taking the money it will almost certainly be subcontractors. Of course there are some tracks you can park for free (e.g. Leicester, Coventry, Lakeside, Wolves, Kings Lynn, Ipswich, Rye House, Mildenhall, Kent) -
Admission Prices At Tracks Sweden V Britain
arnieg replied to mike1944's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Quite similar actually. There are 24 Brits in EL official line ups (that includes Branford), but 16 of these are the 'fast track' reserves. Sweden has 21 native riders (including Kylmakorpi) who've ridden 50% or more of their teams Elitserien matches. With 8 teams in GB and 7 in Sweden that's 3.00 vs 3.00 per team. There are no Swedes in the top ten Elitserien averages (top 12 if you include Ward and Hampel). Lindback at 11 and Jonsson at 14 are the best Swedes. There are ten Swedes with an average of 6 or more riding regularly in their top league. Peter Karlsson and Kim Nilsson both have sub six point Elitserien averages. http://www.aktuellspeedway.se/storbritannien/bana/ - helpfully gives latitude and longitude af all British tracks. Central location for: 1) all UK league tracks (only counting tracks once where there are two teams): Just South of Derby (about 5 miles from the much missed Long Eaton) - nearest current track is Leicester 2) EL tracks 10 miles west of Northampton (nearest track Coventry) 3) PL tracks: 5 miles south west of Huddersfield (nearest current track Sheffield) 4) NL tracks (including second teams and double counting Birmingham): 3 miles SW of Wellingborough (nearest track Coventry) Ipswich is in fact the most Easterly track in the UK (Glasgow West, Plymouth South and Edinburgh North are the other extremes) -

Danish fixtures are Wednesday and Friday Doyle won't be a problem - he is basically too good for the Danish League and has only ridden once (Karpov, Fricke and Lahti are the top three foreigners who ride regularly in the DSL) Andersen may be a problem but I'd guess he'll ride at Cov and Munkebo will use Kenni Larsen. They are best team in the league riding at home so can probably afford to be without him. -
