Coventry Bees Vs Lakeside 09/09/15
arnieg replied to Game On's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
In truth the margin between the bottom three teams is so slim that all one can reasonably say is that Wolves, Lakeside and Leicester were equally bad. -

As a neutral don't care in the slightest what the result of this match is. I think you are taking my comment a little too seriously -

Childish homophobia alert -
Don't see what this would achieve. It would make the NL more expensive and I fear that in the long term it would reduce the number of opportunities for British youngsters as fewer teams are willing to enter.
-
Both are clearly ready for the PL, not just based on their NL averages, but also on their rate of improvement. They won't come cheap so unless Ipswich transform into big spenders I doubt that they'd both be at Foxhall.

Don't Cov have to avoid winning by more than six to ensure Wolves finish bottom? Surely that's important. -
Belle Vue, Kings Lynn Or Swindon For 3rd/4th Spot
arnieg replied to Trevor's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
16.3.4.1 stipulates the signing of riders not in current EL declared line-ups so Doyle and NKI are non-starters (and both have GSAs too high to allow them to guest for Zagar). Also 16.3.4.1 uses the phrase 'long term' and if Zagar rides in the GPs I think it is open to interpretation what long-term means. (It is not defined in section 2) -
Aces Last Stand - Monmore Green 31/8
arnieg replied to T.N.T.'s topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
And the answer was a resounding yes. There was a huge contingent of Aces fans and a healthy Leicester presence, and I think it is fair to say both groups thought they got value for money. Not sure the Wolves fans felt the same after their team's dismal performance. -
Lakeside don't even need to win - the consolation point for losing by six or less will be sufficient to put Wolves bottom. A very healthy crowd but judging by the responses to Aces and Lions victories the home supporters were almost outnumbered. Wolves performance in the first match was one of the worst by a home team I have ever seen. Just three race wins, and conceding 11 heat advantages (would have been 2 and 12 if heat 14 had been awarded). The Leicester match took just 65 minutes. Swidders winning a race was a bit of a shock, and Woz rode very authoritatively, but Masters didn't look race fit.

I can vouch for this. Due to traffic hold ups my 2 1/2 hour journey took FOUR hours and I arrived to find myself locked out. Having got in through the pits I found I had missed five races and programmes were sold out. Shame tape malfunction couldn't have been earlier. To say I am pissed off is an understatement. PS Not having much luck with Mildenhall, my previous visit was a 5 hour round trip for a rain - off. PPS Anyone got a spare programme

Stupid post as they DIDN'T cheat.

Birmingham Vs Eastbourne 2nd September (@ 7:30?)
arnieg replied to Alex2000's topic in National League Speedway
Well that was a meeting of contrasts. An almost unraceable track (falls in every one of heats 2 to 9) but a fiercely competitive match with Tom Perry showing no fear for the conditions and Ellis and BWD proving well matched. The advantage swung from one team to the other with never more than four points separating the teams and just one going into heat 15 after Hopwood and Spiller salvaged a 3-all in Ht 14 from what looked to be heading for a Brummie 5-1 for two laps. Brummies have had a fantastic year after last year's agonising death, but I hope Mildenhall pull off a shock win on Sunday just to keep this intriguing title battle between two well matched (but vey differently structured) teams going a little longer. A great shame that the weather affected the crowd, more paying fans would have improved the atmosphere and Birmingham's bank balance - but what an absorbing contest. -
Doesn't ride in Denmark(!) or Sweden, but in Poland: He is averaging nearly 8 for Tarnow in the Extraliga ...which is higher than Laguta(G), Doyle, Holder, Zagar, lversen, Jepsen Jensen, Gollob, Jonsson Go figure!

Lions first away win in the top division since 29 Sept 1983 @ Sheffield -
I think you've missed Oldace's point. His list is of fatalities. It's much longer than the one for the last 20 years (which consists solely of David Nix)

World Cup Or Gp At Twickenham?
arnieg replied to DonRacer's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Having been on the Planning Committee for Twickenham until last year I'd be very doubtful it will get through. The local residents groups are very vocal about the strictly limited approvals for other events. (Typically a max of four music events per year). There is also a big head of steam building up against the suggestion that Chelsea might relocate to Twickers during redevelopment. -

If he's withholding his services then presumably KL get a 28 day dispensation. Does that leave them with a 6 pt PL rider in the final (if they were to get there)? -

How can they rep[lace him? We've passed the 28 Aug deadline for team changes, and the new rule 16.3.4.1 only allows for the replacement of 'long term injured riders. Milik rode yesterday. http://www.speedway.sk/aktiality/362-52-ronik-zlatej-prilby-u-pozna-svojho-viaza-martina-vaculika -
A very strange meeting, with nobody knowing if this was the last meeting ever at the track. During the meeting it was a case of don't mention the end of Kirky Lane, and afterwards we had an overlong set of farewell interviews which would have been better if interspersed between the racing. As for the racing: there were two priceless moments, heat 10 with Nicholls going through the narrowest of gaps to pass Doyle and Masters in a sublime move and Cookie's last to first in heat 14. Leicester would have been destroyed if they'd had anyone but Garrity at reserve. Doyle and Masters were competitive but their three Poles were woeful and didn't even make it to the tapes after heat 9. And what a fantastic way to leave the old stadium - walking past the towering structures that will form the stands of the new stadium. When was the last time a team moved from one stadium straight into a brand new one?

I eventually settled for car to Banbury and train from there !

I think you may be underestimating him. He is a young improving rider who is already familiar with PL tracks. In the Danish League he is comfortably out scoring Michelsen, Busk Jakobsen and Ostergaard. Joint sixth in Danish Championship And Third in the world under 21 ahead of Fricke, Bech and Kurtz

Belle Vue, Kings Lynn Or Swindon For 3rd/4th Spot
arnieg replied to Trevor's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So if the weather or something unexpected doesn't scupper the chances of King's Lynn and Swindon then Belle Vue won't make the play-offs. Which begs the question: Will Sunday's match be the last ever match at Kirky Lane? -
Mostly under 21 meetings, which won't be relevant next season.

One of the tests of self-employment is the ability to choose your own clients (in this instance riding engagements). If parent clubs are dictating over which guest bookings riders can take it leaves the way open for HMRC to question their self-employment status. Therefore I think any rider that signs a club contract that prevents him guesting or gives club a veto over guesting would be very unwise.
