  1. He's long made it known that he intends to settle over there on retirement from British racing- if he hasn't already I suspect it is only a matter of time before he becomes a naturalised New Zealander.
  2. Non-flamable tickets Do you think they are taking these no smoking rules too far?
  3. Interesting read here https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/jul/27/wimbledon-greyhounds-afc-plough-lane-stadium But not a mention of speedway.
  4. I bet they'll all be talking about 'modal share targets' on the terraces at Blunsdon next week!
  5. Fox was 26 when he came over. The four riders I have named are better at 18/19 than Fox was at 23/24. Manzares had a good first season here, and could well be back next year Saying Nicol should ride in preference to Janniro is equivalent to saying Wajtknecht should be selected in preference to Danny King. (Janniro and King are both current national champions)
  6. Perhaps because: 1] They are still at school 2] it's a long way across the Atlantic 3] they want to get enough experience so that they are well prepared when they do come over After all how many teenage Danes and Swedes can you name who are riding in Britain? Dillon Ruml and Luke Becker are younger than British talents like Jack Smith and Zach Wajtknecht and over a year younger than Dmitri Berge who is currently the youngest foreigner riding regularly in Britain (based on a quick scan - it is possible I may have missed someone)
  7. They appear to be doing fine. Looking at US domestic results it is noticible that the younger brigade (Luke Becker[17], Max Ruml[19], Dillon Ruml[17], Broc Nicol[18] in particular) are now filling most of the places in the scratch main finals.
  8. Teaboys updates are amongst the best around - I have no problems with anything in Monday night's reporting.
  9. What a difference a day makes - zero for PK in Sweden tonight.
  10. Everyone seems to take this as a given, but Tom Bacon had already beaten Bowen, Ayres and Shanes so it is quite possible that he could have done so again in heat 15.
  11. It happens, and has been happening for years. In practice I've always managed to get a cash refund, but it has often required postal application or even reminders. Only one promoter ever gave me my money back with good grace, so step forward Peter Toogood. The next three meetings or restaging of postponed fixture rule generally works OK as long as there is provision for refunds for those who can't come back. And that would be OK provided promoters didn't give the impression that they would do anything they could to avoid giving a refund. So send ticket to promotion with covering letter (take a copy) and if your money doesn't come back contact BSPA.
  12. The Poles were from Wroclaw not Warsaw.
  13. Yes, architects like buildings that 'make a statement', usually 'this building looks impressive but isn't fit for purpose. A classic example is the prize winning engineering block at Leicester University by Sterling (he of the prize fame) - the sound carried thru the walls of the lecture theatres, and the building leaked!
  14. Indeed - surely it should be R/R for Summers and an EDR guest for Starke.
  15. I believe Mr Bear is an architect. And I was surprised to read on the application forms that: a) there was no pre-planning advice, and that GI had no agent listed on the form. With my extensive experience of the planning process I'd say both of those were major warning signals.
  16. From Mildenhall Fen Tigers facebook page: From Kevin Jolly - I have asked Phil [Kirk, club press officer] to reproduce this piece from this Sunday's programme so it can be seen ahead of the meeting. I will be amongst you all in the crowd on Sunday so please do take the time to speak with me if you wish to discuss the recent events of the last few weeks. I look forward to catching up with many of you on Sunday Thank you "It has been some time since our previous home meeting and a great has happened in the ensuing time. With relation to the Cradley meeting I cannot say too much at the moment as at the time of writing this is still an ongoing situation, however I do want to offer my sincere apologies to everyone concerned with the club for my actions on the 19th June. It was a ‘heat of the moment’ decision that I obviously now regret and wish I had handled differently. I was sorry to hear that a number of supporters made a wasted journey and apologise for the confusion on the day. I will be around today amongst the crowd and please come and speak to me if you wish to discuss anything to do with that afternoon".
  17. Think most of these would struggle to do much better than a 5 point average. for example it is hard to see Skurla doing any better than Zdenek Holub. My choice would be Joel Andersson - but I imagine he's already been approached by several teams (possibly including Berwick) and has good reasons why he doesn't want to ride here at the moment. no doubt the same applies to Anders Thomsen, but there might be a few other less established Danes worth trying (e.g. Patrick Hansen, Frederik Jakobsen, Jason Jorgensen, Jonas Jepersen) I was very impressed when I saw Ilya Chalov, but let's face it that's just not going to happen.
  18. Apart from 1975 these all appear to be single meeting competitions or cup competitions with elimination rounds and a final. http://www.historyspeedway.nstrefa.pl/dmbulgarii.php
  19. Russian League tables here: http://www.historyspeedway.nstrefa.pl/dmrosji.php And the Soviet Union era here: http://www.historyspeedway.nstrefa.pl/dmzsrr.php
  20. To be fair Wajtkneckt is a far better rider than his Rye House performances. He has been very indifferent in all three Hoddesdon appearances I've witnessed, but excellent at a variety of other tracks where I have seen him.
  21. But the circumstances were such that this match would have been called off even if it was indoors!!!
  22. Crowd noises Having a track less than 20 miles away. Test matches involving two teams of riders who represented the best of their country fighting for the pride of their nation.
  23. Validated doesn't mean approved. It merely means it has been registered as a valid application that they will determine at some point.
  24. Hamill and Crump have both ridden in the last 12 months.
  25. Looks to me as if the application has been withdrawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and a new one submitted (meaning permission is unlikely before October!!) Details here: http://pa1.swindon.gov.uk/publicaccess/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=O7RY9CPTHSC00
