No the rule book is crystal clear that there are no TR rides in the League Cup, so no that's not wheat has happened.

Not better, but different. All have a legion of problems, some shared, some specific to their division. And in the right circumstances all can provide excellent speedway.

halifaxtiger is right. The rule is crystal clear. Furthermore it is the SCB rulebook, so why are BSPA members Godfrey and CVS authorising changes to it - neither are SCB members.

That is indeed what the regulations say. But does that mean a rider who was born in the UK but never gone abroad, and therefore does not have a passport, is ineligible for the NL? Surely not!

People complain about the malign influence of SKY's presence causing matches to go ahead when they shouldn't, and now they remove themselves from that situation and people still complain. This at least allows the Wolves management/SCB official to make appropriate decisions about whether tomorrow's fixture goes ahead. Just can't win!

Here's hoping it does work out. If it does I imagine Plymouth will look to moving into the National League next year. That could make the NL larger than the PL, and the largest speedway league in the world!

The directors can be held personally liable if held to have been knowingly trading whilst insolvent ('wrongful trading' is the corporate jargon). Given the circumstances it is not inconceivable that such a charge could be laid, but highly unlikely.

Sorry but it seems perfectly reasonable to me. You wouldn't expect Accrington Stanley to get the same coverage as Manchester United in the sports pages. I really can't see any evidence that the Star is implementing a policy to 'hold the NL back'. Now you might well question the 'no assets rule' for NL clubs and the BSPAs motives but that bears no relation to the make up of Speedway Star.

The number of league teams peaked at 38 in 1978, after that there was a steady decline until it reached 21 in 1993. Then the formation of BL3 (subsequently Academy, conference and now National league) pushed that up to 27 in 1994. There are currently 28 league teams (if we exclude Plymouth) riding at 27 tracks (Cradley accounting for the difference). The most notable recent trend is the increase in the National League - now with 8 stand alone teams (a record high?). Compare that with 1998 when there were just five teams in the league (four stand-alone: Buxton, Mildenhall, St Austell and Skegness who quickly transferred to King's Lynn; and Newport's junior team).

Notwithstanding the cold, the delays and the programme layout howler, what struck me about last night was how upbeat and positive the crowd was. A marked contrast to the grumbling on here over the winter. Still think Rockets are one of the weaker teams, but Stuart Robson illustrated the importance (often under estimated by promoters) of having entertaining riders that the fans can identify with. I'm glad I chose this over Belle Vue!

Congratulations on your big day to everyone behind this project. Good luck to everyone involved, and I hope that it as an evening befitting of Belle Vue's glorious history.

So a 45 year old working for Goldman Sachs doing a part time MSC merits this a discount even though they are a higher rate taxpayer?

Seconded I've been standing at the back of the stand for 20 years or so and this isn't the first time they've tried this. But it has never stuck, and nor have I witnessesed imminent disaster as a consequence. What was annoying today was that the announcement came just as the riders were at the tapes for heat one. There were 30 minutes of presentation during which we could have been informed of the need to move. I duly moved, disturbing a couple of people in order to get to as seat. However I observed that most people in the centre of the stand hadn't moved so eventually I returned to my favoured spot.

I think it is an indication of how far Bydgoszcz have fallen. Although with a squad of 13 riders I doubt Konopka will get many chances unless they run into serious financial trouble and Konopka's main advantage [that he is cheap] becomes apparent

I haven't the faintest idea who he is. He's just a competitor in another obscure sport. But then I'd struggle to name more than half a dozen cricketers or rugby union internationals.

I suspect not. I think MattK is right very few riders will be prevented from riding over here - perhaps the next Rafal Konopka but beyond that I doubt whether there will be much difference, apart from some extra paperwork.
