  1. Well that depends if they select the right person!
  2. There is no money from the SCB, it is an administrative body almost entirely funded by licence fees (for tracks, riders, officials). If there is going to be any investment it will have to come from the promoters, and to be fair there has been some investment in the youth development programme (largely time on the part of Neil Vacher). There certainly seem to be more opportunities for youngsters to get track time than a decade ago. Ultimately the issue is funding, so it comes down to more sponsorship, bigger crowds or higher admission charges. The single thing that will generate more British talent on track is getting more youngsters interested in taking up the sport, and the development of the British Youth Championships has been a positive step in that direction. But speedway is a niche sport that few people have heard of; and as long as that remains the case it will be difficult to get more youngsters involved.
  3. Probably - but he is not the oldest rider to score a maximum in Britain's top speedway league. PK is only 46, but Jack Parker scored his last maximum for Belle Vue in the 1953 National League when he would have been 47.
  4. It would mean Leicester dropping Klindt as they already have Summers and Ludo doubling up.
  5. Having looked at the weather forecast all I'm thinking is RAIN.😣
  6. There was no space in the programme to write the time in anyway!
  7. From an objective look at the riders eligible the top three U21 nations are easy to spot: Poland, Denmark and Australia. After that I'd say it is pretty close between GB, Sweden and Russia for fourth spot - hardly the basis for some of the running down of team GB on this thread.
  8. He's long made it known that he intends to settle over there on retirement from British racing- if he hasn't already I suspect it is only a matter of time before he becomes a naturalised New Zealander.
  9. Non-flamable tickets Do you think they are taking these no smoking rules too far?
  10. Interesting read here https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/jul/27/wimbledon-greyhounds-afc-plough-lane-stadium But not a mention of speedway.
  11. I bet they'll all be talking about 'modal share targets' on the terraces at Blunsdon next week!
  12. Fox was 26 when he came over. The four riders I have named are better at 18/19 than Fox was at 23/24. Manzares had a good first season here, and could well be back next year Saying Nicol should ride in preference to Janniro is equivalent to saying Wajtknecht should be selected in preference to Danny King. (Janniro and King are both current national champions)
  13. Perhaps because: 1] They are still at school 2] it's a long way across the Atlantic 3] they want to get enough experience so that they are well prepared when they do come over After all how many teenage Danes and Swedes can you name who are riding in Britain? Dillon Ruml and Luke Becker are younger than British talents like Jack Smith and Zach Wajtknecht and over a year younger than Dmitri Berge who is currently the youngest foreigner riding regularly in Britain (based on a quick scan - it is possible I may have missed someone)
  14. They appear to be doing fine. Looking at US domestic results it is noticible that the younger brigade (Luke Becker[17], Max Ruml[19], Dillon Ruml[17], Broc Nicol[18] in particular) are now filling most of the places in the scratch main finals.
  15. Days like these remind me why I love speedway. Congratulations to the Devils
  16. Had they team ridden then they would both have gone thru anyway.
  17. So the wise sages on the updates poll predicted the three least likely qualifiers as Rye House, Workington and Berwick. What do we know!!
  18. Teaboys updates are amongst the best around - I have no problems with anything in Monday night's reporting.
  19. What a difference a day makes - zero for PK in Sweden tonight.
  20. Everyone seems to take this as a given, but Tom Bacon had already beaten Bowen, Ayres and Shanes so it is quite possible that he could have done so again in heat 15.
  21. It happens, and has been happening for years. In practice I've always managed to get a cash refund, but it has often required postal application or even reminders. Only one promoter ever gave me my money back with good grace, so step forward Peter Toogood. The next three meetings or restaging of postponed fixture rule generally works OK as long as there is provision for refunds for those who can't come back. And that would be OK provided promoters didn't give the impression that they would do anything they could to avoid giving a refund. So send ticket to promotion with covering letter (take a copy) and if your money doesn't come back contact BSPA.
  22. The Poles were from Wroclaw not Warsaw.
  23. Yes, architects like buildings that 'make a statement', usually 'this building looks impressive but isn't fit for purpose. A classic example is the prize winning engineering block at Leicester University by Sterling (he of the prize fame) - the sound carried thru the walls of the lecture theatres, and the building leaked!
  24. Indeed - surely it should be R/R for Summers and an EDR guest for Starke.
  25. I believe Mr Bear is an architect. And I was surprised to read on the application forms that: a) there was no pre-planning advice, and that GI had no agent listed on the form. With my extensive experience of the planning process I'd say both of those were major warning signals.
