  1. Can't see anything in the regulations to that effect
  2. Not always. Kenny Bjerre being the most obvious recent example
  3. Fairly sure Ben Shields rode on Swedish licence, not sure about Adam.
  4. A 1984 Reading programme has a Rivets fixtures list which gives 3 July for Weymouth v Reading. If so then it would have been the second half of the Weymouth v Stoke meeting. I'm now looking out for the programme for that meeting to see if that hypothesis is correct.
  5. Somebody did: http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=80529 oh! It was me!
  6. According to the highly unreliable metric of facebook followers: https://www.facebook.com/481042952054722/photos/a.481042995388051.1073741826.481042952054722/672086182950397/?type=3&theater Hardly surprising the top 12 are all Polish, although how the no 13 team gets a polish flag beside it's name I don't know. Top 7 1 Zielona Gora 2 Stal Gorzow 3 Unia Leszno 4 Torun 5 Czestochowa (top team not in Polish Extraliga) 6 Unia Tarnow 7 Sparta Wroclaw Top GB Teams 13 Poole 15 Glasgow 16 Belle Vue 17 Wolves 23 Leicester 26 Hull (!!) 27 Newcastle 29 Lakeside 31 King's Lynn 34 Peterborough (Lowest EL track Swindon @ 61; Top NL track Cradley @ no 70) Top 5 Other Nations 20 Lonigo 24 Ventura (looks suspicious as this track only stages a handful of meetings) 25 Vetlanda 28 Dackarna 30 Fast Fridays (Auburn) Top 5 Southern Hemisphere 57 Canterbury (NZ|) 58 Pinjar Park (Aus) 74 Oreti Park (NZ) 83 Bellocq (Arg) 85 Mildura (Aus)
  7. Yes - because it has happened before. Bernt Persson and Bengt Jansson both abandoned their teams mid season when the pound collapsed in 1976.
  8. Champion still going https://www.speedwaybikes.com/res2016_e/Champion-160904.htm But no sign of Tuff since 2014
  9. Presumably because he is in King's Lynn's named seven.

  11. Wuffy started his career at Pinjar Park so Rye House and Wolverhampton were big tracks to him!
  12. Dates back to the introduction of speedway in the UK. The sport arrived from Australia in 1928, the same time as greyhound racing from the USA. As a result 80-90% of speedway tracks were shared use with greyhounds and they often took the Saturday slot (Sunday's were not available due to religious based restrictions on commercial activity).
  13. It is from the Ukraine. veteran's meeting at Vozneschensk, 11 September Under 55s Result: 1.Vladimir Kolodiy Jr. (Rivne) (3, 3, 3, N / C) = 9 + 3 2. 15. Indeed, many self-employed people (me included) have had contracts that restricted their ability to work for third parties. What amuses me is the indignation on here from so many British posters, completely oblivious to the fact that this is exactly the same way the BSPA behaved in the 70s and 80s when we had the world's top league.
  16. Sabrina Bogh 2001 Danish under 21 champion (also on the podium was Ulrich Ostergaard) is the leading example of a female national champion.
  17. Given that the article seems to have been written entirely by reading the BSF and using the copy and paste functions I'd suggest that it is closer to hearsay than fact. All we have is speculation, some of it informed and some of it less so.
  18. Somerset Rebels may be in the lower echelons of the sporting world but in speedway terms they are probably in the mid to higher echelons (good track, neat stadium [but beware the rabbit holes], professionally promoted and successful). Bet Brenda's devotion was tested last night though!
  19. And Tom Bacon must now be a worry after his fall at Somerset (he wanted to continue but was withdrawn by the doctor last night)
  20. Basically it is a full time job that was only offering part-time pay. Suspect that put some people off.
  21. How wrong. Kenny has a 7 plus average in Poland, higher than Zagar, Jonsson, Kildemand, Janowski and both Pawlicki's.
