LIONS v BIRMINGHAM 25/4/24
arnieg replied to justathought's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not sure why you expect Joe [2023 Champ av of 3.36] to beat Flint [2023 Champ av 6.58]. He looked good at Oxford last week (paid 12) but none of the riders he beat had an average as high as Flint's. -
You are right, I'd forgotten about that part of the rule..

Didn't think that would fit, but 37.99 JUST!

Oxford vs King’s Lynn - Thurs April 25th
arnieg replied to SpeedwayFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well I can tell you that according to the KL website and facebook it's 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Perhaps there is some uncertainty over NKI and Basso? -
Kings Lynn vs Sheffield - Monday 22nd April
arnieg replied to SpeedwayFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Jeez how pathetic. I can well recall standing in Sheffield car park on 18 August 2022 at 7.30pm on race night in blazing sunshine (shorts weather) with no rain having fallen in the past two days but no speedway because the match had been called off on Tuesday because apparently Sheffield couldn't get the track ready. I have little time for Chapman but it irks me that a promoti9n that is equally guilty is whinging like a 12 year old. -
Oxford vs King’s Lynn - Thurs April 25th

It is an actual average based on actual points scored in real matches calculated according to the regulations. Yes sometimes the rules produce anomalies but if you want to iron them out you will often end up creating new ones, and inevitably make the rules more complicated. -

You can't. Rob P will confirm my interpretation. -
Belle Vue v Ipswich 22nd April

The two situations were different. No facility at Ipswich means a 75% guest (as Ipswich has tonight), but No facility on Sunday in the NDL meant a 3.00 unattached rider (Spooner not having ridden this season for the Chargers) -

Both were treated the same. They were both allowed a 75% no facility guest Just Oxford couldn't find one. -

As yet no offence has been committed. I assume that once the meeting is finished and the ACU referee submits his report the SCB will put out a statement saying they are investigating, and another one about the outcome. There seems an awful lot of sound and fury over very little at the moment. Doyle missed his plane. He will plead his case emphasising the mitigating circumstances and the SCB will adjudicate. Until then there's not much to be said. At least (unlike Oxford) the Witches have been able to find a 75% guest - ironically from Oxford! -

Grachan is correct. You can have a converted average, and if the conversion rules contain no cap (as was the case in this example) then ... yes you can have an average over 12 - silly though it may seem. -
Ipswich Witches 2024 serious team predictions

Also history. the previous scheme (Fast track circa 2014) drew a lot of flack from all the teams that didn't have Lewis Blackbird at reserve all year. http://www.gbspeedway.com/2014/teamstats.php?mc1=x&mc2=ta&mc3=av&mc4=Eastbourne Eagles&team=Eastbourne Eagles&league=A&comp=CMA&avtype=av -

But being a great rider does not make a great team manager either. -

Exactly. If you follow this line if thought to it's logical conclusion why not dispense with all that messy racing and random variations and just add up the two teams GSAs and award the match to the team with the highest combined average. [Think of the savings: No stadium to rent, staff to employ, machinery to purchase, riders to pay] -

Strawman argument. Harris's GSA is under 7 so no one should regularly expect him to score double figures. He's outscored his average in 4 out of 5 matches so far this season and that's an admirable record, not a reason to laugh at him. -
Interesting aside: how do you feel about Tony Clarke? His crimes were against speedway, yet he was back in the Wolverhampton team within days of his release.

7 in Prem last month and never less than paid 8 in 5 previous Cowley appearances so I think we all expected more from him. -

Great to see Dan and Joe thriving after the rotten treatment they got last year. Fantastic climax, milking the VAR for all it was worth. But as a Cheetahs fan the Oxford line up looks a bit flabby. -
And there'll be even more headroom when Janowski gets a real average

Birmingham Monday on the way up, Oxford on the Sunday afterwards on the way home and Sheffthorpe on the blank Thursday to make 7 meetings in 7 days. Go on British weather I dare you to foil my plans!
