  1. Correct answer for TR at end of 1950 is Eric Minall 72.6 (as per Stenners) The result of heat 2 on 21 September was indeed a win for Eric Mason, but his time was 74.2. Evidence: 1) 21 Sept filled in programme gives time as 74.2 2)28 Sept and 12 Oct progs still show TR as 72.6 by Eric Minall nb the only other rider to hold the record during the year was Len Williams (Sheffield) who set a new fastest time of 73.0 on 7 August
  2. Plenty of us said that last night. Crowd looked good because the stands were closed (due to the high winds). I reckon less than 650 adults last night.
  3. And an ideal opportunity for sufferers of enochlophobia to get out and watch some speedway
  4. How about a point for correctly predicting the number of guests in each match!
  5. This post most closely mirrors my thinking. So Hancock, Vaculik, Iversen and Milik are my picks with Lebedevs, MJJ or Kildemand and Fricke as the reserves.
  6. Is there not a precedent when Kasprzak missed a PL fixture because he attended a civic reception with his club in Poland?
  7. Given the commonality in promoters this would be an easy meeting to fix. But if you were fixing it your main concern would be to maximise revenues for the two clubs. So Sheffield would have won narrowly last night, coming from behind to win in a last heat decider by say 48-42. That would be enough to please Tigers fans and encourage Lions fans to turn out for the second leg where they would win comfortably after a slow start.
  8. How about staging an individual event and then at the end drawing 7 riders at random for each team. Then add their scores together and declare the 'team' with most points the winner
  9. Australian Championship result here: http://www.aktuellspeedway.se/australien/australienska-masterskapet/serietabell/
  10. I went to the rained off staging and couldn't make the restaging. Refund applied for - cheque arrived. Straightforward, no hassle. Well done Belle Vue.
  11. Not only very rare event, but it also happened in Sweden where underdogs Smederna put in an astounding performance to conquer Elit Vetlanda after losing the first leg at home.
  12. (If he wraps up the world title tonight) Would Doyle take a booking for the Monmore leg?
  13. Is there a viable alternative to amalgamation? With Sheffield, Ipswich and Glasgow interested in going up ...and doubts about Edinburgh, Peterborough, Scunthorpe, Newcastle and Workington for various reasons.. that leaves Berwick and Redcar in the second tier!
  14. With the caveat that not all the facts are in the public domain, it appears to me that the principle of a fine is correct, but the quantum of the fine seems excessive given the number of instances of dubious actions by promoters that have previously gone unpunished (or where sanction has been nominal).
  15. And not complete because I forgot the Leicester / Sheffield promo/relegation 'showdown'
  16. So that leaves PL KOF BV v Som/Wol - both legs CL matches: Sheffield v Redcar Glasgow v Workington Peterborough v Edinburgh Newcastle v Workington Newcastle v Redcar CL KOSF Peterboro v Newc/Glasgow plus two finals NL Cradley v Eastbourne Mildenhall v IoW Plymouth v Mildenhall and the two PO Finals and two KOC Finals still to arrange. Quite a list
  17. 18.12.2 A rider may ride as a Guest (in an Official Meeting) at a Track only once in an 8-day period unless he is replacing the Home Teams #1 or is a NDL rider guesting for the Home Team. So OK
  18. Thank you to Smederna for keeping the romance of the sport alive. Thank you to Dave Goddard for an engaging season long performance. Congratulations to our resident blacksmith - enjoy the moment Ghostie And get well Jacob Thorrsell
  19. Er no? Thorrsell is not absent due to an FIM meeting so no guest allowed. Fair???? Possibly not, but them's the rules.
  20. I particularly 'liked' the way a certain rider looked round very pointedly to make sure nobody was near him before artlessly dropping it on the third bend.
