  1. With the caveat that not all the facts are in the public domain, it appears to me that the principle of a fine is correct, but the quantum of the fine seems excessive given the number of instances of dubious actions by promoters that have previously gone unpunished (or where sanction has been nominal).
  2. And not complete because I forgot the Leicester / Sheffield promo/relegation 'showdown'
  3. So that leaves PL KOF BV v Som/Wol - both legs CL matches: Sheffield v Redcar Glasgow v Workington Peterborough v Edinburgh Newcastle v Workington Newcastle v Redcar CL KOSF Peterboro v Newc/Glasgow plus two finals NL Cradley v Eastbourne Mildenhall v IoW Plymouth v Mildenhall and the two PO Finals and two KOC Finals still to arrange. Quite a list
  4. 18.12.2 A rider may ride as a Guest (in an Official Meeting) at a Track only once in an 8-day period unless he is replacing the Home Teams #1 or is a NDL rider guesting for the Home Team. So OK
  5. Thank you to Smederna for keeping the romance of the sport alive. Thank you to Dave Goddard for an engaging season long performance. Congratulations to our resident blacksmith - enjoy the moment Ghostie And get well Jacob Thorrsell
  6. Er no? Thorrsell is not absent due to an FIM meeting so no guest allowed. Fair???? Possibly not, but them's the rules.
  7. I particularly 'liked' the way a certain rider looked round very pointedly to make sure nobody was near him before artlessly dropping it on the third bend.
  8. Given how limited the options would be it's a moot point. King? Nicholls? Grajczonek?
  9. You are deluded. It was clearly a very small proportion of the crowd who cheered those falls.
  10. Oh grow up. We all know perfectly well the reaction would be the same if Lindgren or Masters fell at Belle Vue. A few people would cheer out of relief at seeing the home team gain an advantage - not out of malice. And if you think those were the biggest cheers you must have a hearing problem.
  11. Just bring your own tyres next time! Despite the delay a pretty good afternoon in the end. Thought Michael Breckon did a good job of keeping the meeting going.
  12. Start delayed due to lack of tyres. Hope they finish before my 4 hours in car park is up.
  13. Scottish Speedway Museum http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=55984 Steve Luxton's Garage Mahal http://www.speedwayplus.com/NewMahal.shtml and at Broxbourne the Paradise Park National speedway museum https://www.pwpark.com/national-speedway-museum
  14. Promoters are NOT the cause of every single problem in speedway. However they generally seem ill equipped (both in skills and resources) to respond to those that they are not responsible for. Most are doing the best they can in a difficult situation.
  15. Try https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.2213287,-1.9176191,17z/data=!3m1!1e3
  16. So your argument is: Cowley was effectively a 'neutral' track Oxford lost twice to Reading on this 'neutral' track Therefore Oxford were better than Reading
  17. No points carried forward [source: Speedway Star: 1/4/17]
  18. Racers had More wins, more bonus points and more race points - I'm struggling to follow Steve Roberts' argument. Basically Oxford could have won the league if only Reading weren't so good that they won at Oxford - TWICE. [and the A match was won by seven, not one or two or three but seven] I do have some sympathy with Grand central though - the KO cup win was down to the team manager after the riders lost the semi on track.
  19. Still looking 4 a lift from station to track (I have a lift back). If anyone could help I'd be grateful.
  20. I've spent the last hour trying to remember where and when this took place as I thought it was a relevant precedent. Thanks
